Chapter 87 - Marriage

Walking back to the camp, Felia tossed the spring water pouch to Long and whispered. "How can we waste such a precious thing for washing hands?"

With her eyes she said, 'I don't care if you are rich. My Xia will not fall to your grubby hands.'

Long glared back at her and huffed. 'You saw the water. It's just a chump change for me.' he laughed out loud like a rich overlord.

Xia gazed at them both with a weird look on his face. 'Why are they always glaring at each other? Before they used to shout all the time now they glare all the time,' he thought with wonder. 'I guess I still have lot to learn about human emotions.' He thought with a sigh.

He chewed on the chicken wing silently.

Long huffed and moved closer to his lover. "You feel cold right lean on me," he whispered.

Xia who was busy chewing on the chicken did not know how to answer to that. "Leaning and eating is uncomfortable ba. I'll eat and tuck myself to sleep," he said with a smile.

Long gaped at him with a shocked look on his face. 'Xia rejected. He rejected my offer. I have been shot down!' he exclaimed in his mind.

With a down cast look, he gazed up at that stupid woman. She had a smug smile on her face.

Long sighed and took a deep breath. 'I should not kill her. Nope, control' he chanted continuously.

The sun went down and darkness descended upon them.

Xia kindled the fire, making the fire stronger. But their fire wood was burning out quickly.

"We need more firewood," Xia mumbled.

"He/she will go," two voices shouted together.

Long shot up and shouted, "You go get firewood," he pointed his long finger at her face.

Felia flicked his finger off and whispered, "No you go,"

"No, you go," Long shouted.

Felia subtly smirked at him and sobbed out loud. "AHH, it's a dark forest. how can you expect a woman to collect firewood at this time?"

Long gritted his teeth. "Yay, didn't you hunt at night just yesterday,"

Princess made a fake action of drying her tears. "But... but that a safe forest. This forest is said to have dangerous beasts in vicinity,"

"Hey..." Long started, but Xia held his hands.

"She is right. This part of the forest is not safe. Men should do this. I will go," Xia said.

"NO! It's dangerous," Long shouted and hugged him. Xia gave him a glum stare.

The golden dragon resigned to his fate and nodded. "I will go. You stay safe here, okay. Don't eat anything she gives," he shouted and darted deep into the forest.

Xia gazed at his retreating back and chuckled. He turned to Felia and whispered, "Don't be offended by him. He is a baby still. He hasn't learned how to treat women,"

Princess Felia shook her head. "You don't have to apologize for his actions. I forgave him long back," she said with a dazzling smile. But inside she thought, 'My poor fairy is apologizing for that brute's actions. How could I forgive him, ah?'

Xia nodded his head with a smile. He gazed deeply into the burning embers of the fire. He couldn't help but think of the little snake's question. "What do you think about marrying a man?" Long voice echoed in his mind.

After thinking for a while his heart did feel all tingly and fluffy when he thought about marrying Long. But still the stupid little snake did not ask him again after that day.

With a pout he kindled the fire with a stick.

"Felia, what do you think about marriage?" He whispered with an absentminded smirk.

Felia gazed at him with her eyes wide open. 'Is he proposing me? oh my god, I feel so bashful,' she internally squealed in delight.

Externally, she maintained her graceful behaviour as she roasted another piece of chicken leg.

"I think marriage unites two people who are deeply in love," she uttered.

"Hmm," Xia mumbled with a small smile.

'Oh, look at his smile. He is probably too shy to pop the question? Should be brave to ask it myself? What should I do?' she internally panicked.

"Marriage does sound good," Xia whispered.

'Okay, I'm doing it. It's now or never. I have to as his hand in marriage,' she finally decided her mind.

"You know, Xia, there is a grand chapel in my kingdom of Huilion. All the royal weddings are celebrated there. Its specialty is the stained glass paintings that cover all the walls. And in sunlight it shines the colours of a rainbow. So I was thinking can we get marrie...." she slowly said.

"But I would like to marry Long in a flower field," Xia muttered with a star struck look.

"Huh what?" Felia whispered.
