230— Li Lianmo's Friend Comes To City M

Since both had reached a compromise, Pei Yueran turned her mind away from it and looked at Li Chuanmo, "So where are you going now?"

"To the study." He had a couple of meetings to attend today.

Pei Yueran patted the bed while looking at him, "Won't you stay to keep me company?"

Li Chuanmo's eyes darkened as he weighed the options, but reason eventually won out and he shook his head. After smiling at her and arranging her hair, he walked out.

They had not even hugged since her illness began, much less anything else. He was afraid that even a simple cuddle would cause problems and aggravate her condition, so he declined. He didn't want to risk it.

If she could hear his train of thought, Pei Yueran would have given an unladylike snort. Chairman Li, you refused to hug not because I'd be sicker, but because you think of me as some fragile porcelain!

How can a mere cuddle worsen her health? She was already feeling much better! But her heart felt warm because of his concern, and she was determined to make it up to him later.

As to why she was making it up to him, it was all Mrs. Li's own choice.

If Li Chuanmo knew that his concession made out of genuine concern would lead to such a pleasing result, it would have kept his mood permanently elevated.

Unfortunately, mood-ruining issues were bound to come knocking somehow.

He had just finished the first meeting when his phone beeped, alerting him to a new message.

When he checked it, he frowned.

Quickly dialing the number, he spoke in a measured tone when the other party answered.

"What is the situation?"

"They've just entered the cinema now."

Li Chuanmo frowned slightly before saying, "Make sure you keep them in your sight at all times. Don't lose them no matter what. And if you sense any danger, call the police and move in immediately."

"Yes Sir."

Li Chuanmo cut the call and rubbed his brows. It was a good thing he put men on the trail of his siblings.

He sincerely hoped there would be no problem during their stay at home, but experience with Pei Yueran had showed him that people were unpredictable, so he had to be prepared at all times.

The man in the picture was someone he knew, but whether he could be dangerous or not remained to be seen.

As he continued to stare at the picture of the guy walking with his sister, his face was blank.

*****

Since the boys left, Li Lianmo had been feeling bored at home. After the excitement of the wedding had died down, there was nothing else to do.

She would have flown back to school, but in order to be allowed to come home earlier, she had completed her course work for the semester and even written her exams. Going back now was just going to be unnecessary.

She regretted it. She thought there would be things to do, but if she had known that it would be so boring, she wouldn't have written her exams in such a hurry. Now she could only keep reading at home even though she was desperately itching for some fun.

Her childhood friends were mostly abroad or in the Capital studying, and they won't be back until the Lunar New Year, so there was basically no one to play with.

Li Junmo had suggested taking her outside to play, but she mercilessly rejected him. What kind of fun could be had with this bratty brother of hers?

Still, they had eventually gone out together two days ago and it was quite fun. It was just that she had stylishly gone to ask him if he would want to go out today but he declined, saying he was busy.

Or should she just take permission and fly to one of the nearby countries for a week of fun?

Just as she browsing on her phone, looking for destinations she could go on a quick trip to, her phone rang.

When she saw the caller ID, she was pleasantly surprised.

"BaiFumei? How come you're calling? I thought you said you'd only call me if you come over?"

A cheery voice came from the other end, "Of course, that's why I'm calling. I've arrived in City M. I'm currently in the house of my relatives, so I was calling to see if we could meet up."

Li Lianmo sat up excitedly. This was good news indeed. Fen Fumei was her classmate in medical school, and the two got along pretty well.

Her real name was Fen Fumei, but due to the popularity of the internet slang, her friends called her BaiFumei (Miss Perfect), and she had become used to it.

She lived in the Capital, but when she found out that Li Lianmo was going to City M, she mentioned that she also had relatives in City M and would call if she came to visit. Li Lianmo readily agreed at the time, but she didn't know her friend would actually keep her promise.

"Great. Of course, where should we meet?"

Fen Fumei continued, "Well I don't know City M well, so I'm not sure, but my cousin brother is here and he says he would recommend Tianlou near the city court. Do you know the place?"

"That coffee shop? Sure! See you there in an hour." Li Lianmo replied before hanging up. After doing a little jiggle in happiness, she dashed to her closet to change her home clothes.

In less than twenty minutes, she was ready to go. She knocked on the door of her parents' bedroom to inform them that she would be going out, and Zhang Heying reminded her to take the family driver.

Since she had been behaving well since that fiasco, she felt assured to let her go out on her own. Anyway, she was no longer a kid.

Due to the fact that she had to inform the driver late, they arrived at Tianlou a few minutes past the agreed time.

When Fen Fumei saw her friend coming in, she stood up and waved excitedly, "Lianmo!"

The two girls hugged each other enthusiastically. Only after they pulled apart did Li Lianmo see the young man in a suit who was sitting beside her friend.

While she looked at the slightly familiar man, he took the initiative to introduce himself, "Hi Lianmo, I'm Fen Sizhong."

The fog of confusion in Li Lianmo's eyes. cleared up almost immediately and her voice wasn't as enthusiastic as before, "Oh it's Sizhong dage. How are you?"
