The rise of Shadow [1]

I am now a twelve years old boy, a valedictorian and a young member to the assassin group called: The deathbringers, and my code name to that group is "Shadow" since I can see musk surrounding from evil people.

I woke up, and sat on the bed, I looked at my new uniform and I smiled. "Well, it's time to shower!" I stretched my arms off, and went to the bathroom, after refreshing myself a bit, I went to my room and wore my uniform, it perfectly fits!

I went downstairs to eat breakfast, suddenly my father's arms hooked all over my shoulders, "You are now a fine young man huh?" he laughed, and I sighed, "Dad, your arm's heavy you know?" I took his arms off, "What makes it difficult? You're a smart lad." he put his thumb up and smiled on me.

"Mom, what's for breakfast?" I took the chair ad sat on it, mother puts the food on the table, "It's a beef stew, your favorite, since it's your first day of school at Huete university!" she smiled and sat on the chair, "No need to push yourself okay?" she looked at me and I nodded.

I finished my meal right on time and I have to take Ellie to her school "So Elle, how is school?" I looked at her on my right, "It's fine, and also, I want to ask you something brother" she looked at me with confusion written all over her face, "What does Murder mean?"--?! I was shocked from her question, how could someone teach her that?

"Who told you that?" I asked her to dodge the question, "A guy from my class says he wants to murder me, but I didn't know what that means." she smiled and looked at me, somehow, I feel very irritated.

"You better ignore what he said, maybe he doesn't know what that means either." I smiled and she nods. Who would do such a thing? I'll kill him when he does--"Brother, we're here!" she took her hands off mine and pointed at her school entrance, "Bye!" I waved goodbye and she waved back.

I went towards my university and decided to stop by at Drake's house, and there he is! "Hey Drake! How are you?" I put my arm around his shoulder, "I'm doing great, and guess what--I am going to surpass your knowledge." he looked at me and smirked, "What do you mean?" I raised a brow, "I am enrolled to Huete University!" he shouted while showing me his certificate.

"Eh? You never told me that!" I shouted, "Heh, to surprise you of course" he shrugs.

We headed to our university together. "Gosh, I think were late for the opening ceremony!" I put my bag on my chair while hurriedly waiting for Drake to change his coat, "Sorry, the button got stuck!" he opened the door and we hurriedly went to the stage. The opening ceremony has begun!

"My name is Forero Monta, and I am a head master to this school. As you can see, this university is larger than normal so we'll do whatever we can to aid you from any kinds of problems, but our learning system is a different matter than normal ones, it is very advanced and it is dangerous f you won't do it right. Welcome to Huete University!" he smiled and turned back towards his seat.

The school supervisor came towards the table, "I would like to thank Madam Kath Bernavouse, the head chief of the main base of Giere here on Gilnshe, for enrolling this special children here on Huete University, I shall call their names, Adam Grey: Valedictorian from Damoca University, Benedict Clut, Hannad Giede, Louise Scott, and Drake Hemington. Please proceed towards the stage."

After being called, we went towards the stage in front of a lot of people, "These are the people being recommended by none other than Madam Kath Bernavouse" he pointed his hands on us, and the people just starts clapping.

And just like that, the opening ceremony ended, we headed into our classroom and the class begun. "So, I am George, Forero Monta's disciple, and I will be your advisor for this year and so forth." Ah! It's that guy from the library back then, he's literally an annoying adult.

"Yo Adam! Long time no see!" he raised his hand as a gesture of greeting, I sighed and frowned, "Well! Since this is your first day of school, I think you should have fun first!" he smiled and the class was as confused as me, "This is school isn't just about books and powers you know.....it's also dangerous so if everything happens to you....we don't care." he smirked and taps the board.

"Well, you heard me, go and meet new friends before time runs out." he smiled at us and waved goodbye as he left the classroom. "Childish adults are disgusting...." I murmured, "Hey Adam, you really don't want to be in this class right?" Drake looked at me.

"Yeah, your hunch is annoyingly right, I need to be somewhere off than here...(I need to find the one who killed [Adam] )....." I sighed and scratched my neck, he smiled back and said, "It's okay, you don't need to tell me the whole information, since the day Prince James told us about [Adam] you seem pretty concentrated about it...." he looked at me and stretched his arms.

"Um excuse me.....you're Adam Grey right?" a random guy just popped out of nowhere, "Yeah, what about it?" I raised a brow and tilted my head, "Um could you sign me an autograph?" he handed me a piece of paper and a pen, (HUH?! I didn't expect that coming from the son of the noble: Adelio Hriess!!!), "Sure!" I smiled and signed the paper, he took the paper and smiled, "Thank you so much!" then he left.

"He seems a little suspicious." I looked at Drake and shrugs, "You should leave him be, he seems to have a liking to you." he replied while getting something from his bag, "You were popular since you were a valedictorian from Damoca university, it's not that easy to achieve you know." he continued.

"Well I know that but.....I don't know why I feel...." I touched my chest and felt my heart beating, (.....I feel lonely....)

"Well, if you aren't feeling well, you can always tell me...." he smiled and stood up, ".....I will go and meet new people, see you later Adam...." he went across the room and said hello to a bunch of people.

I sighed and went outside the room, I saw George crossing his arms at the wall near the classroom door, "I figured you'd be here." I tilt my head and he smiled, "I also figured that you'd catch me here eavesdropping on the students' conversation."

"Do whatever you want, I also don't care." I walked passed him, "A large number of murder cases have been increased on the city of Neidelberg, and I might need a little help from a smart young man." I told me from behind.

"So?" I looked back at him, "Will you accept my wish or not?" he released his arms and smiled.

(As long as he doesn't suspect me from being a part of the deathbringers, then it's fine.)

"I'll gladly accept it." his face was beamed up and his eyes were widen, he smiled, "Thank you, then let's meet at the town square at Sunday early in the morning." he left and went back towards the office.

(What was that for? He didn't seem to be plotting something bad since there was no musk surrounding him. Even so, he seems to be a suspicious person.) I continued walking towards the garden.

I spotted Louise on the way and she was looking at the sky as if she was lost in thought, I approached her from behind. "Ba!" I scared her from her back and she jolts.

I laughed because of her reaction, "Sorry, you were just looking at the sky and I thought you might need a little shock." I wiped my tears out of laughter then sat at the bench, and she frowned at me.

"What do you want?" she crossed her arms and cleared her throat, "I definitely want nothing from anyone you know." I raised a brow and she looked confused.

"You are a confusing child, I can't believe your parents raised you with that attitude." she smirked

"Want to get hit in the face?" I clenched my fist as a joke

"Go ahead, you'll be known to this university as a bully rather than being a valedictorian." she raised a brow and smiled.

"As if I'd do that, I don't hit girls" I crossed my arms

"So if I hit you, you won't hit me back?" she looked as if she was looking down at me

"I would hit anyone who would hit me first" I smug

"For sure you will." she stood up and brushed her skirt, "I am determined to defeat the highest ranking student in this school, which is you...Adam Grey, so beware." she left the garden.

I stood up and looked at her leaving the room, (What's up with her? She seemed pissed off.) I scratched my neck and headed back to the classroom.

As I entered the classroom, the room was a clamorous, the students are there lying on the floor, other students are playing, while most of the students are fighting to see who is stronger.

(What in the world happened here?) My face was disgusted more than being confused. I went back to my seat and suddenly, a students puts his feet near my head, (This is more like a supermarket for being al loud and dirty.)

I sighed, and tried to look for Drake and he was no longer in the classroom. I asked anyone in class where he is and they weren't able to answer. (I only disappeared for a short time! how could that happen?)

I began to bite my thumb's nail, I was nervous, maybe something happened?

"Adam, come here for a moment." George was at the doorstep waving at me

We went inside the head master's office and Drake was there comfortably sitting on the couch, "Drake, you were here the whole time? You made me worry!" I looked at him and he chuckled, "Professor George called me after you left the room, so there's no need to worry." he smiled.

I sighed out of relief, "So, what do you want Mr. Forero?" I drifted back to the head master and nods.

"I believe George have told you about Neidelberg but, this is a different matter." he stood up and took something from his cabinet.

"Here are some quests you might need to be prepared for the Neidelberg investigation." he handed me some papers regarding about escorting royal highnesses to arrive at their destination.

"Consider this as a practice on being able to catch up on George, he finished all quests in only four hours." he smiled, "Well, if you don't want to, then don't force yourself." he said politely.

(Doing this might take sometime but, I need this for my future needs)

"I accept all of these quests, and I will try hard to surpass George's record and set a new record." I looked at him and he nods.

"Then I shall move the investigation next week, good luck Adam." he taps the folders and put it in his drawer.

"Pardon me, but I would like to ask why Drake is part of this matter?" I asked politely, he nods, "He is going to be assigned as a new assistant of George's so, whenever George needs his help, he will come by and grant his orders." he smiled.

"Why would a high rank sorcerer would need a help from a rookie?" I crossed my arms and looked at George.

"He may not look like it but, George is a busy person, since he is a high rank sorcerer." Forero replied

"Tehe." George laughed from behind, "Come on, let's go, Drake." I went towards the door step and Drake didn't follow.

"What's up?" I looked back at him, "I need to fulfill orders from George, but he didn't say I could leave." Drake smiled, "You go on ahead, I'll catch up later." I was having two thoughts on leaving him behind or wait for him. I chose to leave him behind.

(I am really sure George will use Drake as a decoy on what he plots to happen, but I'm not sure if he will do something I would expect or what I didn't expect...I have 42 percent chance that he'll do something I would expect but since earlier, he have adjusted his management on his strategy which leads to a 58 percent chance to doom.) I walked back towards the classroom.

"Good afternoon, Adam Grey." Benedict was there standing before me, "What do you want?" I looked at the window

"I know you don't want to be here, Drake told me, but, it seems like you have no intention on being a Giere office at all, since you don't really pay attention to class." he smiled and it's pissing me off.

(Drake told him?)

"Don't mind other peoples' businesses, Benedict." I crossed my arms looking at him.

"I won't for now, up until your future upholds, I'll defeat." he walked pass by me

(What is his deal?!)

I sighed and went inside the classroom, I sat on my seat and a teacher comes in, the class starts.

4:03 pm

"Ugh, I'm tired." I stretched my arms as I finally be able to go home, (Drake's not yet back though, and he's acting strange lately...)

As I went out of the classroom door, the head master was standing in front of me, he hands me a piece of paper and then left.

(What?! I thought this quest is only a practice for the investigation at Neidelberg!) They're literally making fun of me aren't they...Uugh this sucks. This starts tomorrow too.....

"I wanna go home...." I walked out of the school building.

"Good day, Mr. Adam!" Prince James smiled at me while putting his left hand on his chest.

"Uhh, you too." I raised a brow.

"I would like to discuss you with something." he smiled once again

(Seriously?! Can they talk about it with someone else? I am pretty stressed right now! And I still need to fulfill another mission from the deathbringers!)

'Calm down Adam, your mind isn't at peace which means it's noisy inside here...' Shade interupted

"Y-yeah sure." I nodded and he escorted me towards the shore line.

"I know this is a lot to take in but, since the death of [Adam], more and more cases of murder are increasing this week, and I would like to arrest you as the prime suspect."

(HUH?)

Guards suddenly held both my arms and legs, they tied a rope surrounding my hands.

"Even now, I am grateful to you." he smiled
