Prologue

I was woken by a sound of something smashing and someone muttering

"I'm sorry maam. I didn't mean for this to happen!"

"It's fine it's just a cup. Anyways i was going to get rid of it soon. Are you ok with handling all these boxes i mean if i was a bit younger I wouldn't mind giving you a helping hand but age does your back bad."

"No maam i'm fine. Sam will come soon, he's just popped down to get a MacyD's"

I was extremely confused as my aunt was usually busy with work that i would rarely see her but it was understandable as she had to make a living. My cousins were very friendly and easy going that I didn't have a hard time talking them and eventhough my aunt and her family adopted me they treated me as family and cared for me as though I was their child. I hurried downstairs and looked around. There was boxes full of plates, teacups, books, a hairstraightener and makeup box and men in blue shirts were holding our shelf towards their car. "Aunt Lorraine, what's happening?"

She stared at me for a minute before getting back into her senses.

"Harley i'm sorry i couldn't bring myself to tell you but Uncle Pete got a job in Austrailia and we decided it would be best for us to move there. You see it's embarrasing to say this but we're in debt and this job will help our family financially. Your cousins, Leya and Luke have families now and live seperately from us but you have to attend school and your Uncle and I thought it would be better for you to remain here where your most familiar to and it would be harder for you to adjust at your new school there. Of course we want you to decide whether you want to leave this country or stay. I'm sorry i couldn't bring myself to tell you earlier."

I hugged Aunt. Inside my heart there was a selfish thought of complaining to them why they didn't tell me sooner and for a split second I wanted to cry and scream and tell them i want to come along. But i told myself it was only right if i would let them enjoy the rest of their life rather than tag along and be a nuisance.

"I'm with you and Uncle's decision. I want to stay here."

Aunt Lorraine hugged me and started crying then we heard the sound of a car closing and out came Uncle who realised Aunt had told me everything.

Uncle hugged me and told me he was sorry and he would promise to visit me when he could.

Aunt Lorraine hurried to her bag and got out her notebook and ripped out a piece of paper and handed it to me. The paper read an address and someone's phone number.

"You're obviously underage so we can't leave you alone here but when me and your mother was younger, she had a best friend called Janet and she told me that she would love to take you in and she would do anything for her best friend, your mother, let alone her daughter. Here's her address and i'm so sorry honey i'm sorry for everything."

I reassured her i'd be fine and it's not her fault .She handed me a wallet and told me to use it to take a taxi to that house and for any other expenses

"Maam i'm sorry to interrupt but we've packed everything and we have other customers so it would me much appreciated if we could drive to the airport quickly."

My aunt cried and my uncle hugged her then looked at me with a sad glance and as we waved our goodbyes it was not long before the van was gone and my aunt and uncle had left.

I looked at the note my aunt had handed me then i quietly started crying.
