As Harry Potter took his first breath and opened his eyes, he felt a crushing sense of loss and grief wash over him. He was in a strange and unfamiliar world, surrounded by unfamiliar faces, and a deep sense of longing for his old life and loved ones consumed him. The confusion and disorientation he felt as he gazed upon the faces of a crying rough men and a dying woman, who was holding him tenderly and speaking in a language that was foreign to his ears, was overwhelming.
He couldn't understand their words, but he could see the raw pain and sadness etched on their faces. These were to be his new parents, or so he thought in that moment. Unfortunately, he was powerless to keep her from expiring or to console the painful sobs of the man. The thought of losing yet another mother figure and not being able to understand or comfort them in their grief was too much for him to bear and he felt a deep sense of loneliness and loss right after having a new shot in life.
As he grew and delved deeper into the history of this new world, the now named Jon Snow discovered that he had a deep and intrinsic connection to it. After learning how to speak westerosi, he immediately revisited the painful memory surrounding his birth and learned that his true parents were Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, that they had been embroiled in a great conflict known as Robert's Rebellion, and that his true name was Jaehaerys Targaryen.
The knowledge of his true heritage was both exhilarating and devastating for Jon. On one hand, it gave him a sense of belonging and connection to a past that he never knew he had, but on the other hand, it also meant that his parents' relationship had been a source of much controversy and had led to much bloodshed, which he couldn't help but feel guilty about.
As if his true parentage was not anxiety-inducing enough, Jon learned that he had to keep his magical abilities hidden in order to survive and fit in with his new family. He remembered the events surrounding his upbringing with magic-hating relatives in his old world and knew that he had to be cautious in revealing his abilities. Thankfully, he had the ability to summon a copy of the Death Stick at any time just like he could with the other Deathly Hallows, but for most uses of magic he could perform wandlessly.
He suspected that magic was not well-accepted in this world and did not want to draw unwanted attention to himself. The thought of being rejected and outed as a wizard filled him with dread and fear, and he couldn't help but feel like he was constantly walking on eggshells, hiding a part of himself that was essential to who he was. It was a constant struggle for him to keep his true self hidden, but he knew that it was necessary for his survival in this new world.
As he settled into his new life, Jon found that fitting in with his new family was not easy. He had hoped that Catelyn Stark, his new stepmother of sorts, would treat him with the love and affection of a mother, but instead she consumed him with her disdain and coldness, seeing him as a constant reminder of her husband's supposed infidelity. Jon couldn't help but feel the sting of rejection and the emptiness of not being accepted. He knew that he had to be careful around her and keep his distance, but it was hard for him to hide the mixture of hurt and disappointment he felt. The thought of not having a motherly figure in his life was a constant ache in his heart, and he couldn't shake off the feeling of being unwanted and alone when near her.
Despite the difficulties he faced, Jon found love and acceptance from his brother Robb Stark, his stepfather Eddard Stark, and his sister Arya Stark, the less said about Sansa, the better, for she was unfortunately the spitting image of her mother both in looks and beliefs.
His brother Robb, in particular, became his closest confidant and friend, bonding over their shared love of sword fighting and spending many hours training together. Jon found solace in their friendship and felt a sense of camaraderie with Robb despite the annoying presence of Theon Greyjoy.
Eddard Stark, who had taken him in as his own, was a father figure to Jon and instilled in him a sense of honor and duty. He taught him how to be a good person, a good leader and a good Stark. Jon couldn't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude towards Eddard for accepting him and treating him as his own son.
Arya Stark, his youngest sister, was a fierce and independent spirit who constantly pestered him to teach her how to fight and constantly bickered with her mother and sister that she would never be a lady. They shared a deep bond, and Jon couldn't help but admire her courage and determination, even if he found her stubbornness annoying from time to time.
These relationships and connections he formed with his new family members helped Jon to feel a sense of belonging and love in this new world, despite the challenges he faced. He realized that even though his past and his true identity were important to him, he also belonged in this new world with the people who loved and accepted him for who he was.
Maester Luwin, the castle's resident Maester, took notice of Jon's academic abilities and began to teach him High Valyrian, the language of the dragonlords of old. Jon was an eager and quick learner, impressing the Maester with his knowledge and understanding of the language. He found solace in learning and mastering it, as it gave him a sense of belonging and connection to his true family.
As he grew older, Jon never forgot about his past and his wife, Daphne. He kept a close eye on all the merchants that passed through Winterfell, hoping to find any information about her whereabouts. The thought of losing Daphne forever was a constant ache in his heart, and he couldn't shake off the feeling of being incomplete without her. He would often find himself lost in memories of her, missing her dearly and longing for the life they had together.
Even though he had found acceptance and love in his new family, there was always a part of him that was missing and it was a constant reminder that he had lost a part of himself when he was transported to this new world.
Luckily his soul bond to Daphne transferred over in this new life, so he knew for a fact that she was alive and somewhere very far away to the southeast of his current location. A quick check to the maps made him conclude she was somewhere in another continent, Essos. Everyday he prayed to whatever god was out there for the safety of his wife, as the mere thought of her being a slave in Lys made his stomach churn and spiked his anxiety, but he knew for a fact that Daphne was more than capable to deal with any problem a muggle could present.
Besides, it was not like he could do anything about it as he was still a child.
Some could argue that Jon could have achieved much in those 11 years if he did not hide his magic, but he was of a different opinion. The first 17 years of his life had been naught but struggle, pain and turmoil, the rest was traveling all over the world searching for a way to share the boons of the Deathly Hallows with his wife and mastering all sorts of magic. For the first time in his existence he had a vacation. A long one, he admitted, but a necessary one nonetheless.
At the year 294 A.C. (After Conquest), exactly 11 years after the end of Robert's Rebellion, Jon started to feel Daphne moving somewhat closer to his current location. He knew she was a woman used to the comforts and soft power provided by nobility, so with a sudden sense of urgency Jon set out to remedy his bastardy, and it all began with a talk with his father. For obvious reasons he was not anticipating it. Not at all.
