Magi-Cast

A couple days passed after Oz's return to the hideout and during that time Alfreda headed off to diagon alley in order to gather the items Oz needed for the future. In the meantime Oz was looking over his plans for the product he was thinking of making back in Hogwarts.

Throughout the entire second year on his 'off time' he was planning on something that would be able to follow his health specs, he just didn't know what product would be good to make. The health specs were a good product and raked him in a lot of money however they were only limited to hospitals along with the odd medi-witch/wizard who desired to look after people. Oz wanted a monopoly, a massive amount of money so that all his future endeavours could be funded. As he racked his brains throughout the year over what would be good he thought back to the situation he went through with Rita Skeeter.

Using Rita's lust for drama Oz was able to out both Dumbledore and Lucius at the same time using the powerful weapon that was 'media'. Remembering this Oz took a step back and thought about wizarding media in general. The majority of witches and wizards still used newspapers as a means of spreading news and this mainly stayed the norm in the magic world due to how easy it was for witches and wizards to send newspapers around the world with magic. Oz however had knowledge of muggle technology and remembering his previous life he thought about how important the invention of 'television' was in spreading media.

Taking that he started to narrow down more on the product he wanted to make and eventually he ended up with an idea that was equal parts difficult as it was to exceptional. His plan was to make a video camera that integrated both muggle technology along with magic to fill in the gaps. With magic he could substitute the need for electricity and alongside that he could also add a feature that 'projected' film out to the world essentially just like a video projector the likes he had seen in his previous life. With magic however he could expand on this 'projector' allowing it to be casted into the sky like a hologram that could be viewed by the wizarding public, the only difficulty laid in combining image with magic. As he looked into making this more and more he researched muggle technology, how cameras worked, how film is produced anything he needed to know he learnt. As the year came to an end he had finalised his plans and was ready to give it a go making it. Oz anticipated it would take a few attempts though.

His final plan though was to make a camera that would be accessible to the public for a decently high price. With this camera not only would he find that his wealth would increase but the transmission of 'media' in the wizarding world would also go through a boon. This would also snowball into wizarding entertainment becoming more popular and in extension could lead to a boon in the entertainment industry as well as the media industry in the wizarding world. All Oz had to make was the snowball that would be pushed down a hill, as it gained momentum it would grow and grow into something far larger than anything else.

Alfreda returned with the items Oz requested, amongst the items were the materials she herself needed to create the clothing for herself and Oz. Alongside that there was a vast amount of provisions and supplies ready for travelling. Push to one side was all of the stuff Oz requested for himself in order to begin his project, taking them all he headed to his study within his own room in the hideout and began to get to work.

Trial and error, day in and day out. The days passed as Oz created camera after camera with issues here and there appearing at random. Compared to the health specs that only needed a few simple enchantments and a knowledge of anatomy this was the fusion of magic and technology the likes of which nobody in the world had ever sought before. Oz used runes, spells, arithmancy anything Oz could muster he poured into this project following his plans and he was met with a lot of failure.

A week passed and Oz was still working on the project non-stop. Alfreda would visit him from time to time along with Norberta to make sure he was still okay however seeing his pure concentration they never disturbed him. On a certain night Oz finished tweaking one of the runes he had tirelessly placed within the camera and with that he tested yet another prototype.

'Test number #1192... it'd be nice to have this solved before #2000'.

Oz pressed the button on top of the camera and noted that the camera began to capture image. The film inside the camera seemed to burn quickly as each frame was captured. After filming around his room for a while he unclick the top button. So far the product was functioning properly.

'And for the hardest part...'.

Flicking a switch on the side of the camera a light shot out from it onto Oz's wall. The film inside the camera magically began to move near the light as it started to project each image onto the wall. As the film moved faster the stuttered images started to become video and from there sound started to feedback. The image became clearer and eventually Oz had a video of his room on his room's wall.

'Fucking Finally...'.

The projection cut off as Oz flipped the switch. Looking at the camera bit longer Oz identified all the parts to ensure that it would continue to work. Replacing the film he filmed another portion of his room and projected it again with repeating success following the last time. Seeing that the product was now completed and only needed some slight adjustments Oz felt his excitement grow.

'Honestly this little thing has been one of the biggest challenges in this world to date...'.

Walking out from his room he headed to the main room where Alfreda and Norberta were talking. Norberta's English was getting good enough now where her sentences had coherency. As the two spotted Oz finally out of his study they looked to the item in Oz's hand.

"Is that what you've been working on master~?".

Oz smiled and nodded as he walked over to the two.

"It took me longer than I anticipated but its finally done... Only some slight adjustments need to be made but by the end of this week I feel as though it should be finished. Here let me show you two how it works".

Pointing the camera at both Alfreda and Norberta Oz pushed the 'record' button and started to record the two. They looked at what Oz was doing in confusion in their gazes. After some time Oz stopped the recording and then projected the recording onto the table to the two present. Norberta and Alfreda watched on in shock as they saw themselves in the moment just gone be shown again on the table, almost like a memory.

"Master this is a product that can capture memories!".

"Haha while it can do that it's much more capable than you think. This device is capable of capturing any moment and broadcasting it instantly much like the muggles and their television. Its basically a combination of both a camera and a video projector. This product will certainly be a boon for us long-term~".

Oz was in an especially good mood after his product was finally finalised. Laying out his blueprints that had gone through change after change he finally had a final version. This blueprint when handed to any other witch or wizard now would allow themselves to create the camera in Oz's hand.

{Oz, what do you plan on calling this invention of yours?}.

Oz felt himself shake as he heard Norberta's questioning, he was never any good at naming things.

{I'll go with... Magic-Camera™}.

Norberta and even Alfreda who managed to catch what Oz was saying both sighed as they heard Oz's name he had planned for the product.

"With all due respect master... That name is very lame".

Oz flinched as he looked at the two defeated. Racking his brains he thought over loads of names and eventually arrived on one that seemed to stick.

"How about... Magi-Cast™? A device that uses magic to cast an image thats recorded?".

Norberta and Alfreda both smiled and nodded at Oz affirming that the name was definitely an improvement on 'Magic Camera'. Oz wrote on the blueprint at the top the name of the product. Looking at what he had created with a smile he knew his next steps.

'Just a few adjustments to make the projection quicker and It'll be done... 'Lee Oswald' should hopefully soon be a household name'.
