Foolish Draco

As Oz and the emerald trio entered back into the castle, they were met with a stern looking Mcgonagall who was holding a lantern.

"Where have all four of you been at this hour might I ask?".

Oz watched as Harry and Daphne scrambled for an excuse before they saw Malfoy appear behind Mcgonagall.

Looking at the boy, Oz sighed deeply.

'That idiot... There was no bone to pick with Harry but instead he decided on doing this because of me im guessing... Well im not complaining at all. After all if I get a free trip to the forbidden forest without having to sneak out to there then I'm all for it'.

As the four entered into McGonagall's classroom they were met with a stern lecture, specifically targeting the fact on how they were out so late. At one point during the lecture, Harry went to explain why they had gone down to see Hagrid before Oz nudged him and told him to hush. Unlike in the original canon, Malfoy hadn't seen the dragon this time around. Norberta in fact was hidden in the pan over the fireplace this time before he poked his head in the window.

Even if he did see it Oz would try and find a way to keep norberta by his side however this arrangement right now was the most operable. What made Oz look down on the boy who had snitched on them however was his impulsiveness. Oz imagined that after he returned to his home for the holidays he must have gotten one hell of a beating from his father. That beating was probably amplified after news spread from Rita about the dealings with goblins that the Malfoy family had.

The boy must have been desperate to get a one up on Oz, not realising that what he was doing would also get him in trouble. Such impulsiveness almost made Oz think that the boy was a better fit for Gryffindor...

After a long lecture to the emerald trio, McGonagall finally turned to Oz.

"And you Oz... I thought better of such a smart student such as yourself! You seriously went ahead and decided on leaving the castle this late as well?! I thought you would have learned better after that fight you had in the hallway...".

This rambling went on for a while as Oz just allowed the woman to speak. He didn't want to refute her, less she changed the punishment to something else. Throughout all of this, Draco looked at Oz with a smug grin on his face. Oz returned the look with his cold purple eyes which in turn made the boy freeze up.

After McGonagall was finally finished lecturing the four, she finished off with dishing out the punishment for these actions.

"50 points will be taken from each of your houses... Along with this you'll also serve detention, all five of you".

Hearing 'all five of you', Malfoy's eyebrows jumped as he approached McGonagall's desk.

"Excuse me professor... Perhaps I heard you wrong, did you just say 'all five of you?'".

McGonagall looked at the boy with a knowing look on her face.

"You heard me correct Mr. Malfoy. You were also out after hours after all even if you were trying to do good".

Malfoy's jaw dropped as he looked at the four people he would have to spend detention with. He sneered as he looked at Oz who again returned his gaze with apathy laced in his eyes.

As all of them left McGonagall's classroom, being told that the detention would be held tomorrow night and that they were to meet up with filch to enact it, Malfoy ran ahead of the four as to avoid conflict. Lucky for him he did that as Oz noticed Daphne had something in her hand, specifically a dungbomb.

"Damn it that little snake... I was gonna throw this at him as well but he scurried off...".

Harry looked at Daphne with a slight chuckle.

"Hey Daphne there's plenty of times we can pay him back still! After all we are in the same house as him! How about we...".

As the duo of Harry and Daphne began to walk ahead, Oz could hear that their plans to enact revenge on Malfoy were becoming more and more sinister. Oz looked on with slight amusement wondering what the two would come up with. Hermione on the other hand trailed back with Oz. Looking at the young girl, Oz couldn't help but quip at her.

"So our little bookworm is going to serve detention huh? What is everyone going to think about that I wonder...".

Hermione looked at Oz and rolled her eyes. She smiled slightly though as she realised Oz was just trying to cheer her up after the stern talking to.

"Well I guess ill just have to work doubly as hard in McGonagall's lessons to make it up to her! Anyway Oz...".

Hermione's gaze changed again to a look of pure curiosity.

"Do you really not know how you spoke in Dragon-Tongue? People have been trying to find out how to speak it for years... no centuries even! Such a language could improve relations with dragons immensely as you understand their wants and needs...".

Oz listened as Hermione started to rattle off about the importance of his new found ability. Oz found himself instead wondering about the application of said ability that could give him an edge.

'If I could learn how to speak it properly... I could use spells via dragon-tongue instead of the normal latin-english spells. That should make the spells more powerful and far more easier to control... After all there's studies that show parselmouth can be used in order to augment healing spells so dragon-tongue should be the grandfather of such an application maybe even applying to all spells...'.

Walking back to all their dorms, each of the four had different thoughts swimming in their mind. They all split off as the Slytherins; Daphne, Harry and Oz went down to the dungeons as Hermione ventured up to the Gryffindor common room. As the trio of Slytherins arrived in the common room, Harry and Daphne bade Oz a goodnight as they went into the respective rooms. As Oz was just about to go bed, he took another look at the Marauders map to see that none of the major characters were anywhere important. Seeing that he got into his bed fully and fell asleep.

Tomorrow nights detention was set in Oz's mind as a very important event, one where a number of things could happen...
