Chapter 81:Love beyond eye vision.

Rebecca told a story.

[Story]

She was a daughter of an honest man that worked as a merchant, while his wife lived in the village between the forest of death and the grand cheery forest.

It was a quiet area, where wars were something non-existing, making it a perfect place to have a family in. Horrors that you could see in the places where many things were happening never appeared in the village such as this.

She lived a happy life while her father took care of her. Because of her, he decided to stop being a merchant and became one of the herbalists in the village. Because of a lot of experience he was able to gather during his travels as a merchant, he was one of the best in the village; therefore, he was able to make a lot of money compared to others, but still, it was nothing close to the amount he was making as travelling merchant.

Days passed, and the father found himself a new wife that had 3 daughters. Because the money he was making from the herbs wasn't enough to feed the family, and daughters of his new wife, never worked in their life and only waited to marry someone rich and live a lax life. Only Rebecca that didn't have her sight from birth, worked to her best abilities.

Instead of appreciating her work, her stepmother and her new sisters only mocked and sneered at her. She was forced to do all of the things she was able to do. Despite the attitude that her stepmother and sisters had towards her, she never complained. She worked hard and dreamed of someone loving her.

She was used to being mocked by others since she was used to it. Since childhood, she was not like other kids. She could not play games, she could not learn to dance or do anything fun, and all she could do was accept others' jeers.

Throughout the time, she grew and once, when she tried to clean the house, but because of her disability, instead of saying "Good work," her stepmother slapped her for doing a bad job. After that, her mental health started to crumble, and she started to ignore the outside world.

Ignore her father, sisters and stepmother. Despite jeers and something physical abuse, she kept on ignoring them, slowly falling into depths of nothingness. But once, when she was lying on the grass close to the house, she didn't know if it was day or night since she had never been aware of such a thing.

She just lay there, thinking about everything but reality. But then she heard a voice, deep but gentle. "You are beautiful".

It was her prince. He came out of nowhere and took her along. Since then, all the worries, all jeers and mocking stopped, and nobody dared to even talk to her. She started to live a happy life along with the man she fell in love with.

He never forced her to do anything and was wild like an animal during their intimate moments. Since then, she never faced mocks and lived like a queen in her dreams.

Her husband would daily go to work and bring back food that she would cook. She missed talking to people, but her husband told her that none of them deserved to have a conversation with her since she was a queen and they were just animals.

[End of the story]

She didn't know why she stopped hearing anyone around them, but the reason was simple. People that used to jeer about her were dead. They were sucked dry and left to rot, dying like animals without anyone besides them and without any mercy.

Rebecca finished with words full of love, with tenderness in her voice. "And that is why I love my Gregory more than others."

August inquired about one thing that this lady was not aware of. "Do you know that you live in the long-abandoned village? There is nothing left here. All the people you used to know are just piles of bones, including your father?"

Rebecca froze, holding a cup in her hand. It looked like these words were like a rock falling from a high mountain right on you. She stayed silent for a minute before replying like nothing happened, "Gregory is the best thing that happened to me in my life. He is my prince."

Regis decided to try to do the same as August, but with the use of his abilities "Rebecca, you live in the graveyard where…

Before speaking another word, sharp fangs pierced right through his neck and started to suck the blood.

August reacted quickly, unleashing his sword and trying to cut the head of the one that appeared out of nowhere. Like teleportation, but without any use of magic.

The monster quickly took a step back, avoiding the silver sword that could end his life.

Regis covered his neck with his palm and cursed "Shit, this is Mula."

August looked in the direction of the Mula when he heard a voice behind his back.

"Darling, you came back from work? I cooked you some food," said Rebecca, completely ignoring the sounds coming from the recent events.

To August's surprise Mula spoke "Good, darling."

August once again focused on Mula, who showed his fangs and claws, standing in the stance to dash at his opponent and slowly taking blood red colour with his eyes.

It was a sign of him entering a state of blood rage.

He dashed at August with his fangs ready to bite like a beast.

August put his sword on the way of the Mula, expecting it to avoid the clash, but that didn't work. Moving at ineradicable speed, he let the silver sword pierce his arm and bit August on his shoulder.

Taken by surprise, August didn't have a countermeasure to such a thing, so trying to slash the Mula from behind, August failed since the beast had just moved out of the way.

When the mule took a step back, August looked towards Regis, who regained his posture and had an angry grin on his face.

"How to beat it?" inquired August, since it is the best way to seek advice on how to kill a vampire from a vampire.

"It is either your sword or my fangs and claws", replied Regis looking at the Mula.

August had no idea why he didn't Regis react to Mula when he bit him. "Why did you let him bite you? I thought you could feel those like you."

"Mulas can turn invisible for a fraction of time, making it impossible to detect using any means. This one is also kind of strange, so his behaviour can't be judged by the main populace. He attacked me, but I'm much higher in the hierarchy of our kind. He is abnormal," replied Regis.

"So we need to slash till he can't move?" inquired August, seeing no other option of dealing with a Mula.

"Yes", shortly replied Regis, showing his fangs.
