Johanne's Past

-Johanne's POV-

-FLASHBACK-

It all began on a beautiful sunny day in Citadel. The people are celebrating the prince's 4th birthday. Cheerful music was played all throughout the streets of the city, and people are rejoicing and dancing to it.

Amidst the celebration, meanwhile… My father, who was a low-rank soldier of the city, was being mistreated by his chieftain. The scars from all the kicks and punches he received from that worthless man were still evident on his body when he got home from work that all my mother could do at that time was to cry.

"Why are you letting them do this to you?" I heard my mother ask my father while she cleans his wound. I was the same age as the prince and was always hiding behind our staircase whenever I felt my mother and father would be having some deep conversations. Luckily for me, I was their only child.
