CHAPTER 1 - RUNNING AWAY

20yrs old Princess Tata Edwards, a blonde beautiful young woman hid in her chamber as she disguised herself into a maid.

She had taken the maid clothing from the ropes outside and wore it. Coming out of her room and passing the guards, none of them seemed to recognize she was the second princess.

Exiting the palace gate, she immediately stopped a cab-driver and ordered the driver to take her to Acan kingdom as that was the only welcoming kingdom she knew for foreigners like herself.

She has heard of some other kingdoms that were killing and imprisoning her people but she wasn't ready to die, so she ordered the cab driver to take her to Acan.

Arriving at Acan kingdom after passing the territorial borders, The cab driver whom was a middle-aged man slowed down and asked her, "Where will I drop you ma'am?", After dropping some few other passengers in their preferred destination.

Princess Tata thought for a while and subconsciously mentioned "palace" as she was thinking of a safer place to stay and hide away from her people.

The Cab-driver replied her, "Okay Ma'am" and drove her to the Acan palace that stood mighty at the center of the city. He came down from his driver's seat and went to open the Cab door for her.

Princess Tata came down and paid him two golden coins but the Cab-driver was taken aback as he hadn't expected for a dirty looking woman like her adorned in a maid clothing to be able to possess the coin owned by the rich and noble. He immediately stopped her and questioned her.

"Excuse me Ma'am but where did you get these golden coins from?."

Princess Tata turned backward and stared at him, She asked him, "Any problem with the coins," As she was hurrying up to get to the palace on time before the night completely fell.

"No Ma'am but am just wondering how a dirty looking woman like you, dressed as a maid would be able to own this type of coins," The Cab-driver replied and Princess Tata's eyes subtly narrowed at him.

She was a pure blooded witch and they had powers to enchant people to do their biding, so she quickly enchanted him to keep mute as her eyes shone bright red colours. The Cab-driver kept mute and went back to his driver's seat and drove away.

Princess Tata quickly headed towards the palace gate, as she used a veil in covering her head and part of her face as she looked so different from the ordinary humans. They were keeping their ancestral powers abd she looked more beautiful than the ordinary women.

She got to the palace gate and knocked heavily on it. A guard came out from the guardhouse built closer to the gate and went to peep on whom was knocking. He was shocked to see a woman dressed in black standing by the gate, his eyes quickly narrowed at her, thinking she was probably a mad woman or someone who had lost her direction. He came out and questioned her, "Yes what do you want here?."

Princess Tata raised her head up and meet his gaze, her eyes quickly enchanted him and she said, "Am here to work as a maid, please can you show me to your head maid, so I can apply to work in this palace."

"Okay Ma'am, Follow me." The Palace guard lead her into the palace not knowing he was acting under her spell. He lead her to the head maid department and the head maid stood in front of the maids department gossiping with her assistant.

The headmaid was named Lucy while her assistant was named Helen, They both stared at the palace guard as they saw him approaching them with a strange looking human, covered in veil.

"What do you want Jonathan?," Lucy asked, as she stared from the guard to the strange looking person who she couldn't see her face

"She's here to work as a maid," Jonathan replied and he turned and left, surprising both Lucy and Helen as they stared at the presumed new maid in shock, while watching Jonathan's retreating back.

"What's your name?," Lucy finally asked the strange looking woman standing in her front. .

"Am Fiona," Princess Tata replied, mentioning only her second name as didn't want to mentioned her first name to them, incase her older brother came searching for her, but the assistant headmaid questioned "Fiona who?," And she swallowed not knowing what to say as she hadn't thought of a second name. She ended up mentioning her first name, "Tata."

"Hmm," Helen hummed.

"Well you will have to go to the palace seamstress first to get your size of maid clothing as you cannot dress like this in this palace, And then you come back to us so we can properly interview you and show you to your duties here in this palace as it's getting late," Helen told her and she left to inspect the other young maids doing their duties.

Lady Lucy stared back at Princess Tata Edwards from head to toe and said, "You can go now to the seamstress place to change your clothes, then you come back here to meet me, I will be waiting for you and please be quick as am to go and serve the royal family by 8pm," She stared at her wristwatch time and it was past 7pm.

"Okay Ma'am," Princess Tata Edwards replied and turned to leave but Lady Lucy stopped her saying, "You can call me Lucy or Lady Lucy, next time, but do you already know your way to the seamstress place?."

"No Ma'am," she replied shaking her head and Lady Lucy sighed and said, "Okay, you see that second tall building at your front, don't mistake it and go into the first royal mansion, when you get to the building you knock and tell whoever answered you that you are looking for Lady Alora the seamstress. Do you understand?."

"Yes Lady Lucy," Princess Tata replied and she left.

Lady Lucy stared at her, wondering why she would cover her head in veil, dressing like the northerners as they were the only ones whom mostly used to cover up in veil. She wondered where the girl was from and she shook her head as she finally stared away from her. She went back into the maids building to continue with her evaluation.
