CHAPTER 68
The people who were just walking leisurely and talking among their friends were shocked when out of nowhere they heard a loud explosion. Most of them were curious about what the explosion was about. They scanned their surroundings and they could see both the inn and the building fronting it had some damage done towards them. The damage done to the inn was large enough that you could clearly see the scared occupants of the establishment. But if you look at the whole in the inn your attention would be drawn to a tall man. The man had blonde hair and on occasion would have lighting appearing in his body.
The scared occupants were just an afterthought.
While the building fronting the inn had smoke coming from it. This had prevented people from knowing what was inside of it.
The man walked out of the inn, on occasion lighting would continue to spark around his body.
Realizing that a fight between mages was the cause of the destruction, the more knowledgeable bystanders immediately run away from the premises. They didn't want to be placed in a situation that could endanger them. While the naive ones just remained in place and watch the events unfolding in front of them. For them, something interesting was happening in their mundane life and they couldn't just let the chance pass them by.
"You think that because Enzo trained you, you now have the authority to speak to me like that?!", Laxus said with anger in his voice. His entire body began to be surrounding by yellow lighting, "I don't give a crap about what the old man says! I am Laxus and I don't care about what he will say! I will become the next Master of Fairy Tail cause I am the strongest! Not because of his blood flowing through my veins!".
Suddenly out of the damaged building in front of Laxus came out multiple projectiles. All of which Laxus easily dodged.
Every single people left in the area were shocked when they saw the inn behind the lighting mage. The inn suffered severe damage but the damage was done in a manner similar to that of a sword slice. This was the moment where the people still inside of the inn ran out and they did this just in time. It was like the inn just waited for them to leave before completely collapsing down on itself.
"Pathetic, your attacks mean nothing to me. You can't--", Laxus was interrupted from his smug speech when Elfman suddenly appeared in front of him. Elfman delivered a powerful punch towards Laxus' face. The lighting mage couldn't react fast enough to block Elfman's punch and this cause Elfman's iron fist to land. Laxus used his right leg to support himself from not falling. His eyes began to spark with lighting and with blood in his mouth he said, "Why you little!".
With greater anger than before, the lighting mage immediately grabs Elfman's neck and slammed him on the ground. Elfman tried to free himself from Laxus' hold but Laxus channeled a huge amount of electricity in his body.
"Ah!", Elfman screamed as yellow lighting was coursing through him. But Laxus wasn't finished, he opened his mouth and a magical seal appeared in front of his face. Elfman was wide-eyed, he didn't think that Laxus would deliver a powerful attack in such close proximity. Elfman immediately thought of a plan to survive such an attack.
"LIGHTING DRAGON'S ROAR!"
Laxus's attack resulted in a blinding light made of lighting that caused all the people that were still watching to cover their eyes. Some were even electrocuted by stray lighting hitting them.
Once the light faded, they could see a 10-meter diameter crater. In the middle of it was the lighting mage standing tall and beneath him was Elfman with his arms cross in front of his face. Before's Laxus attack landed he was able to partially transform both his arm into one of his take-over forms; Beast Arm: Stone Bull.
Elfman opened his eyes and immediately attacked Laxus with the stone projectiles coming from his arm. Laxus dodge all of Elfman's attack but Elfman didn't mind. He took this chance to stand up and make some distance between him and Laxus.
Most of Elfman's clothes were burned due to Laxus' previous attack. His head was injured but because of him blocking and using 'Tekkai' at the last moment, his injuries weren't that severe. He could still fight and that was the most important thing right now.
Elfman spits out the blood that was in his mouth and said, "Damn it, now this town will surely no longer allow wizards of Fairy Tail to perform mission within its borders".
"As the future master, why would I care about a small town such as this", Laxus stated, still with lighting crawling all over his body.
"Tell me Laxus, why do you assume that you will be the next master? Is it because you are Master's Makarovs grandson?", Elfman said. He could see Laxus clench his fist at his statement. This just proves a hypothesis that he had. Before he engages Laxus in combat, the lighting mage said something that made Elfman quite interested.
"But you don't want that, do you?", Elfman paused and he could see Laxus narrow his eyes. Realizing that he won't interrupt him, Elfman continued. "There is no doubt in my mind that you want Fairy Tail to become the strongest guild but you don't like people assuming that you will become the next Guild Master simply by the fact that you are Makarov's grandson. A part of you wants the title to prove to Makarov that you are strong in your own right. But then Enzo came along and defeat---".
"ENOUGH!", Laxus said as charges towards Elfman with his speed enhanced by lighting. Realizing that words could no longer sway Laxus away from fighting him and causing more damage to the town, Elfman strengthen his resolve and met Laxus' fist with his own. If a fight is what Laxus wants, it is a fight he will get.
"IRON FIST OF THE LIGHTING DRAGON!"
"BEAST SOUL: WERETIGER! IRON IMPACT!"
"BANG!"
