All the students in the class listened with admiration and respect for King Elias. Also, when they heard him disappear, their faces unexpectedly became sad. Roxie guessed they must have really loved their king.
Roxie didn't even really understand what her father was like, and this kind of reality made her head hurt.
She suddenly felt dizzy after learning the fact that she was actually a princess, a daughter of a powerful King. The one that's been hidden for a long time. She wondered if this was the reason why her father never came home, and also the reason why her mother had forced her to quickly transfer to the new school. But the reasons why she should be hidden are still unknown.
Judging from Professor Nel's eyes, that someone didn't seem like a good person. He or she has taken the throne of her father and it could be him/her who made her father disappear. But Roxie still couldn't put every piece of these messy puzzles together. She doesn't know who's the culprit and the reasons behind everything.
Her head throbbed in pain. She then laid her head on the table.
She was just scratching the surface of the single clue she could find. Thanks to her teacher. But she still needs more explanation.
"Ah, sorry, class. Instead of teaching, I told you guys about a sad incident. But anyway, let's move on to discuss the elemental theory of ice,"
Professor Nel explained while walking left and right.
He continued, "So a person with this power can bring forth any kind of powers he wants because it is unlimited. He can create living things from ice, snow, he can turn water into a block of ice, et cetera, and it is also fire resistant. Isn't it amazing? Anyway, this power is really interesting, blah, blah, blah ..." He exclaimed excitedly.
It was very relatable to Roxie; she had experienced it all. But she was no longer focused because her mind was still filled with questions that could not be answered yet.
'Should I ask the teacher after class?' she asked. But she was disturbed by the sound of the person beside her.
"Hey little girl, are you okay?" Demitri asked worriedly, waving his hand in front of Roxie's face.
She then raised her face slowly from the table. She then smoothed her hair, which was a bit messy.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," She replied without looking at him.
"Are you feeling unwell? Do you want to ask for permission and take a rest?"
Roxie shook her head, "No need. I'm fine,"
She then looked at Demitri, "Thanks," she smiled a little.
Demitri blinked once and raised an eyebrow when he saw Roxie smile at him.
"This is your first time smiling at me," he said straightforwardly.
Roxie just ignored it, then continued to focus on the front.
Luckily, after this, Demitri didn't bother her anymore. They both focused on listening to the teacher's explanation upfront.
Roxie's mind was made up after class ended she would immediately ask Professor Nel about her father without telling her identity or about her real father. She will ask about King Elias Walker only.
Several hours later, the sound of school bells rang, indicating that the class was over this morning and it was going to be lunch soon.
The other students had already disbanded the class, leaving Demitri, Roxie, and Professor Nel packing upfront. The teacher was humming happily because the class was going well. Roxie then stood up from her seat, Demitri also followed.
"What're you doing?" Roxie asked Demitri curiously.
"Going to have lunch with you," he replied casually.
Roxie thought maybe if the other girls heard this they would be excited. However, she was different. She actually felt strange about Demitri.
She raised an eyebrow, "You go ahead first, there's something I want to ask the teacher," She was about to walk forward but had her arm was held back by Demitri.
She then looked at him.
"Then I will accompany you,"
"No, I'll be fine on my own," She let go of Demitri's hand then walked around Demitri.
"Oh, really? This is your first day, are you sure you have memorized the ways around this school?" he asked defiantly.
This made Roxie stop walking and turn to look at Demitri.
"Hmm, touche. But if you want to wait for me, please be quiet,"
Hearing Roxie's reply made him happy.
He grinned happily, "Yes, ma'am,"
Roxie shook her head, then smiled amusedly.
Then the two of them walked over to Professor Nel, who was already holding his things in his hands. He was about to go out of the class.
'I had to make this quick,' Roxie thought while walking at a brisk pace.
Demitri walked slowly behind her, putting both hands in the pockets of his black jeans.
"Professor Nel, I want to ask some questions. Do you mind if I take up your time for a while?"
Professor Nel stopped stepping out from his desk. He then turned around to Roxie, who stopped in front of his table. Meanwhile, Demitri was standing about 2 meters behind Roxie.
He then smiled happily, "Oh, the new student! and also Prince Demitri is still in the classroom. What a good day,"
He then gasped, "are you guys perhaps dating?"
"NO!" They shouted in unison.
He then laughed, "I'm joking,"
Then he saw the two people making a sullen face.
His smile then decreased, "Ah, I thought you guys are getting along at the back seat. I guess not. And how may I help you, Miss Roxie?"
"I want to ask regarding my f — I mean, King Elias Walker. How did you know about him?" Roxie asked curiously.
"Oh, very straight to the point. Well, let's see. I know him from our school days. The era where we who were special like all of you joined with the human nobility in the same school. But then, there was a tragedy," he stared out of the window, remembering the old days.
Then his face turned sullen and looked sad.
"What happened?" Roxie asked slowly, listened attentively.
"I can't tell you much on that one, because that case has been closed tightly and is now confidential,"
'Ah, damn it,' Roxie cursed.
He then sighed, "After the tragedy, the school was closed due to the resistance between the nobles and special people. That caused a split between the two sides,"
Roxie was silent for a while to receive the information. Then she continued to ask another question.
"How about the King? Do you know him personally?"
He then turned to Roxie with a smile, "I'm not someone close to him but I know a few things about him which I noticed when interacting with him a few times,"
Roxie only nodded.
He blinked as he gazed outside the window once more with one hand supporting his chin, "He is a very strict, cold, and strong person. I think he also has a family and also has a daughter. But those are just rumors from what I heard around the people. I don't know much about it, but that's all I know about him,"
"Then, do you know anyone who knows him better? Can you tell me their names?" Roxie asked eagerly as she puts her hands on the desk and stares at him.
He then looked back at Roxie in astonishment.
"Whoah, whoah, miss Roxie, what's wrong with you today? Suddenly obsessed with King Elias, do you have something going on with him?"
'Yes, he's my father! And I want to know about him!'
However, she couldn't yell it out like that — or else she would pave the way for her pursuers to kill her. She couldn't let that happen.
"No, I just want to dig up on history. As I didn't know much about the royalties around here. That's why I want to ask if you know some people who know more about him," She smiled nervously.
"Oh, I see. There are a few people here who are quite close to His Majesty, Beatrice the Headmaster knows a lot about him, and the Kings of the five boys at this school," He then peeked behind Roxie to look at Demitri.
Demitri replied with a sharp glare.
His gaze then returned to Roxie, "Even so, they sometimes like to fight and cause conflicts. But they actually understand each other in political matters. Unlike Beatrice, Beatrice is like a mother to King Elias,"
Roxie is shocked to hear about Beatrice and her father's relationship. Luckily, Professor Nel didn't see Roxie's expression as he looked out the window once again.
Roxie thought there seemed to be a connection between him and the classroom window. She joked inside her head. Then she continued thinking for a while.
'So that's why she knows about my mother,' She thought as she began to understand the situation.
'I'll have to keep in mind to ask her later,'
"Thank you for all the information, Professor Nel," Roxie smiled in gratitude.
"Please, when you guys are in class just call me Nel. I don't like being called formally. It doesn't seem like myself,"
"Alright, uh, Nel,"
A moment later, Roxie and Demitri were already walking towards the school cafeteria. Demitri wanted to ask Roxie a few things, but he held it for the right moment. He then saw several boys around them staring at Roxie with adore.
Somehow seeing this made him very upset. He felt like burning one by one the eyes that looked at her. But as soon as he saw Roxie, who was walking calmly regardless of their surroundings, he held back his anger.
At least, he can enjoy his lunch with Roxie for today.
