Abandon

Lady Gisella could not understand.

She looked at Sir Kit and said in a small voice, "This is not the right thing."

"I should be the one deciding it." Sir Kit looked sideways as his gaze narrowed. "I know the Lady might have her own opinions, but I hope that you do not try and interfere in mine."

Lady Gisella shivered as she saw the killing aura executing from Sir Kit. She took a step back subconsciously as she bit her lips. "I understand." Lady Gisella's eyes shivered as she looked down.

"By the way, how is Lady Gisella's health?'' I hope you are recovering well." Sir Kit said with a smile. But the way his lips curled up made Lady Gisella swallow hard. She knew that the man was a little angry.

Lady Gisella knew that he wasn't angry because she was sick but because she crossed her line yet again. She tried to educate him out of her instincts. "I am well now. Princess Eleanor's lady in waiting has a good hand on medicines."

Sir Kit nodded his head. "Take care. I hope the Lady gets well soon. After all, we have a long way to go till we reach the Empire."

Lady Gisella nodded as she saw Sir Kit walk away. She did not know what to do anymore. Although she did not hate Princess Eleanor now, but Lady Gisella thought that the day was near when she would no longer have a good feeling about the Princess.

"I hope it is only my personal thoughts." Lady Gisella murmured under her breath as she took a few deep breaths. She did not know what to do anymore if things accelerated beyond control.

"Let's just hope that we reach the Empire without any mishaps."

"Nia, is there any reason for you being here?" Princess Eleanor looked at Nia who was standing beside her bed with dull eyes.

Nia did not dare to look up. She could feel that she was getting away from Princess Eleanor. It felt like the Princess was avoiding her and Nia did not understand why.

"Have I made a mistake?" Nia managed to say as she swallowed hard. Her voice trembled at the end.

Nia wanted to know the reason why Princess Eleanor was behaving this way. She felt like the Princess was keeping a distance from her.

"You have not." Princess Eleanor said as she looked at Nia, "Why would you feel like that?"

"The Princess is avoiding me. You do not let me stay near you." tears started to fall from Nia's eyes as she went to her knees. "Is it because I have done something unacceptable? The Princess should tell me so that I can correct myself."

Princess Eleanor looked down as she bit her lips. It was true that she had distanced herself from Nia, but it was not intentional. Princess Eleanor knew that what she was feeling was not repulsion but fear. She feared that everyone would betray her in the end.

Although Princess Eleanor did not doubt Nia, She still felt that she needed to make sure that Nia was still on her side. She was still loyal to her.

But the Princess also knew that it was not the right time. Maybe when they reach the Empire she would decide. "Nia, do you feel like I am giving your place to Sir Kit?"

Nia's throat ran dry. She did not know if Princess Eleanor was saying the thoughts of her mind or what she was observing, but the first thing that Nia said in her head when she heard the question was 'Yes.'

Somewhere Nia felt like Sir Kit was taking her place. He was replacing her. Maybe Princess Eleanor had started trusting him a lot but Nia also thought that it was just in her mind. She knew that Princess Eleanor would never tell her true thoughts to just anyone. One has to be close to her.

Princess Eleanor saw the uncertainty in Nia's eyes as she sighed. She shook her head as she touched Nia's shoulders and made her stand up.

The soft touch by the Princess made Nia come back to reality. It was then that she realized that her face was filled with water. She was crying.

Nia felt embarrassed as she rubbed her eyes. She did not want Princess Eleanor to see her like this.

"Nia…" Princess Eleanor, "I want Sir Kit's loyalty. I hope you understand that. It is necessary if we want to leave the Empire in the future, but be sure that I am not abandoning you."

Nia nodded her head as Princess Eleanor's words gave her some confidence. "I understand."

Princess Eleanor smiled as she rubbed Nia's eyes. "You take care of Lady Gisella and don't worry about me. I know where to draw a line. Just trust me, Nia. I will make sure that we do not suffer."

Nia nodded her head in understanding as she bit her lips. She now understood that Princess Eleanor wanted something from Sir Kit. The Princess had not forgotten her.

"I will take care of Lady Gisella," Nia said with determination. She knew that if Princess Eleanor was working hard to achieve the goals she needed to work hard too.

'Maybe I can make Lady Gisella have a good impression of us.' Nia thought as her heart was filled with determination. She looked forward to helping Princess Eleanor in the future.
