WHO IS MALCOLMS’ QUEEN?

ASHINA --

My heart was pumping with fear hoping that Andor's' cousin was all right and the fate of the others that accompanied him were unharmed.

Walking into the pack hospital, I was hit with the smell of disinfectant overwhelming my senses. On the way to the pack hospital, I asked how a vampire could have injuries. As far as I knew they weren't human at all, they were more like the walking dead. Andor laughed and stated I watched too many movies.

Andor explained there are vampires who were turned when they were near death. The turned vampires are not able to walk in the day or it would kill them. The vampires who are of the old vampire lineage are born vampire and have human components. They are only infected with vampire DNA in their blood, so yes, they like blood. If they become a hybrid like Cornelius, then they are susceptible to injuries just as a wolf would. His wolf is going to be trying to heal him now.

We look into Cornelius' door and see blood transfusions going on. I cringed when I saw the needles in his arms and the monitor beeping at his heart rate. Medications were given to Cornelius to make him sleep, giving his wolf time to heal him. Once Cornelius' wolf healed him, the doctor said he'd be fine.

I asked, hopefully getting some kind of information. "Doctor, did Cornelius say anything before he went under?" I asked hoping to get some information.

Nodding the doctor replied, "He was pretty belligerent from the medication. He kept stating the queen was sitting with Malcolm, repeatedly."

"Malcolm has a queen?" I asked without expecting an answer. The doctor just shrugged his shoulders.

It was apparent that Cornelius would be out for a while. Andor and I turn to leave when I hear Cornelius ever so softly muttered, "Ashina's mother the queen was at Malcolms side."

I turned around suddenly thinking I had heard incorrectly, but I am sure I hadn't.

"Andor, did you hear what I heard?"

Andor's looks perplexed and in shock as I did, "I don't see how that is possible. I mean they slaughtered all the royals, and anyone of high ranking."

Andor grabs me by the arm stating, "Let's go and talk to the others who came back unscathed and see what we can find out."

I watch as Andor's eyes glazed over a good indication he is mind linking someone.

I decided it was taking too long for us to get to the packhouse, so I transported us to Andor's office. They were making out in the office when Andor and I teleported in, and his sister wasn't expecting us to do so.

I coughed to draw attention to our presence, feeling uncomfortable. The two of them were startled, quickly straightening out their clothes as they stopped and looked at both of us.

Andor looks annoyed. "Come on Rector, no one wants to see their sister making out and fondling each other. Keep that in your room!"

We could hear Rector grumbling about us being a cockblocker. I rolled my eyes "Whatever".

Andor –

When we heard Ashina's mom might be alive, we were shocked. I was wondering if it was just my injured cousin's ramblings.

"Melanie, have you talked to the vampires and warriors who weren't seriously hurt?"

Nodding yes, Melanie explained while sitting up straight. She, herself, was looking shocked as she relayed what the Vampire and Warriors had told her.

"The ones who escaped out of the castle saw a woman that looked like Ashina, but older and weathered. There was no clue why she was Malcolm's queen, she was sitting next to Malcolm. There's no doubt it was her. The uninjured confirmed that they had seen the queen. Also, the vampires siding with Malcolm could see through the invisibility shield of the vampires we sent. Most of the vampires in the castle died, except those who survived through the hidden tunnels. The injured were flown back here by Cadma, his mate, and some grumpy dragon once they were outside the castle. Those who were severely injured got teleported straight to the Pack hospital by the witches we sent. Everyone else is showing up in the vehicles they took off in."

Ashina –

My heart felt like a knife had been plunged through it and was being dissected into tiny, shredded pieces. I couldn't understand why my mother was Malcolm's queen and why she never let me know she was still alive. I used to look into the tunnels back at the winter pack hoping my parents would make it out alive. However, my heart broke every day, and they never came for me, and here my mother was alive all this time. Why, I ask myself, why didn't she come?

Andor feeling my sorrow and pain, whispered in my ear. "It was probably she didn't want you to get hurt by Malcolm. I am sure there is an explanation, and it may not even be your mother. Let's wait until we get more answers." Andor kisses me on my head, taking a seat and putting me on his lap. I didn't fight him; I was getting used to this now.

Suddenly the door opened without them knocking and in walked Cadma, his mate, and a grumpy sidekick.

Cadma spoke "The king knows we have a rebellion. He has killed several of our men already."
