CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR: CADMA’S FLASHBACK

Cadma –

"Flashback"

While my beautiful mate and our sidekick surveyed the pack warriors, we found out one segment was struggling.

It was my mate's idea that we check it out. If she told me to venture into a hunters' den, I would do it. I would do anything to just to see my mates' beautiful eyes light up. We were getting closer as our bond grew stronger every day. As the bond between my mate and I grew stronger, the third person hanging around with us kept trying to convince my mate to leave with him and plan their wedding. It's weird she hasn't told him yet that the wedding is off.

The horrific scene we walked into when we reached the segment that had issues wasn't what I expected. This so-called Golden Military captain was regurgitating everywhere. Honestly, it was horrifying. As a man who never cries, I wanted to cry for all the people who lost their lives. My mate's eyes filled with tears as I looked over at her. She held onto me, and we both cried when we saw all the dead people who came to help princess Ashina.

I had brought several of my dragon warriors, I was ordering them around making certain all the bodies had a decent burial. We found whatever identification we could to let their families know what happened.

One of my men came running over dragging someone with them, he smelled of rancid dog, (Wolf) I am guessing this is what the wolf packs called a rogue. He smelt like sewage walking in skin. They threw him at my feet, stating that he was one of the ones that attacked this segment of our warriors. I could see he had been severely injured; I instructed my warriors to put him in the tent so that I could interrogate him.

What we found out while interrogating him had me livid, Malcolm knew were some of our troops were located and was going to massacre them one by one, until we came begging for him to stop.

That was never going to happen, not while I still had breath in my lungs. I left the warriors to clean things up while my mate, and the third party followed me to the other packs to have them relocate. The final pack I had visited I found out my best friend since I was just a whelp had been tortured, killed, and beheaded. I had become so angry that if I could blow fire, I would have burnt anything I could find. Instead, I soared into the sky heading to Ashina's kingdom to kill Malcolm, I didn't pay attention to anything, not even my mate chasing after me.

This is when I happened upon a group of vampires and wolves coming out of the tunnels. Seeing as they knew about his I knew that Ashina had something to do with this. I headed down to see what was going on and saw so many injured people coming out. I wanted to cry at the loss of my friend, but instead we had to get these warriors back to the East Kingdoms pack and let Ashina know what we had found out.

There was some witches, wolves, and vampires, some were seriously injured where others were fine, and some injured but not so bad.

I directed the witches to teleport the serious injuries first to the pack clinic. If the witches teleport too many people, their powers will become weaker. I then looked behind me knowing that my beautiful mate and the idiot were there. I apologize to her for lifting her chin, explaining my plans and why we were doing this. She smiled at me with her beautiful eyes. She loved that I cared enough to help the vampires etc. to safety. I kissed her on her forehead, while the idiot had a small roar. I glared back at him and told him I never asked him to come.

When we reached the East Kingdoms pack, I found out that Ashina and Andor were sleeping. I smiled to myself; in the past I would have been jealous of Andor. Now it is just a fleeting memory of a love I once felt. I wondered if when I saw Ashina if any of the old feelings would surface.

In order to meet with Andor's sister Melanie and her mate Rector, I was asked to come to the office of Andor's. After walking into the office, I stopped breathing for a moment when I saw Ashina sitting on Andor's lap. In the midst of analyzing my feelings for her, I noticed that she continued to look so attractive. Despite the fact that I only want my mate, I still have feelings for Ashina, but why?

After ignoring those old feelings, I explained the attack on the pack warriors that were killed and how we moved the troops.

I did not notice that my partner heard my breathing stop and her eyes followed where my eyes went, which was Ashina. As we all took seats at a conference table, I kept looking over at her, and she sat across from me on the other side of the idiot. With questioning eyes, I stared at her while she looked away angrily.

I wasn't sure what had happened however my heart was breaking thinking that she would not want me.
