The Wall Of Flames

Who would have thought supernaturals exists? Not I at least. Heartbroken when my crush left me for a trip with his boyfriend, I did what any sane love smitten boy will do. I decided to take care of the boyfriend's company with my crush's siblings. What I never envisioned is having to take care of not only the company but the insufferable friend Meka. A boss who sees everything bad in all I do. Determined to get the work that's allocated to me done and over with, I never expected there to be a glitch on the way. I stupidly had to fall for the Stony boss not knowing he's a fire-breather. Note: This novel took place in two universes. The first part took place on Earth while the other part took place in a fictional world.

She'll love me so dearly

With the devil's incarnate gone, I take a much-needed deep breath.

"I'll murder you!" Standing from the chair, Dozzy makes a choking motion at me.

"What?" I frown at him. "Who among us should murder each other?" I frown at the male who's supposed to be my eyes here. "You should have called me the moment you came." I accuse in anger.

Had he called me earlier, I wouldn't have been late. I would have woken up in time to arrive here earlier.

" And how did you propose I do that when he was already in the office when I arrived? "

" He was here?" I tilt my head confused

" Of course. It was as if he expected you to be late."

" Nothing can be put past the devil's incarnate. " I scoff in anger.

Walking to my desk, I place my bag and the files I have with me on the table, before I proceeded to clean the chair he sat on.

"What did you do to him?" Dozzy placed both hands on the table as he brings his face a little closer to mine.

"Aside from meeting him on that day, I can't think of what I did to warrant all this." I sigh in exasperation.

Most times, I feel there must be something that caused his anger towards me, something that might have happened without my knowledge.

"Take heart, my brother. Some people just hate others for no reason at all." Patting me on the back, he winks. "I'll be in my office if you need me."

"As if I'll have any reason to need you." I frown at him.

" Have a nice time operating that machine." He banged the office door behind him.

" Thanks." Glowering at him, I sit on the chair I just cleaned.

"Let's get this thing done," I said to the computer system.

And like yesterday, I worked until past lunchtime.

Setting the entire database to work, I listed the workers in the company, making sure to list them according to their criteria.

"I know you won't recall having your lunch, so I brought some for you." Dozzy placed a wrapped sandwich and an orange juice on the table.

" Thanks." I look up from the system. Wiping my eyes, I smile at him. " Have I told you how much of a darling you are?"

" Nah, you've not done that." He pursed his lips, "You've been complaining of how much of a nuisance I am."

"Then know it now." I lightly pinch his cheeks, "You're more than a darling." I make a kissing motion towards him.

"Yuck," he slaps my hands off. "This is so gross, "he wipes his face as if wiping off what I did.

"As if you don't like it." I raise a brow.

"Like it, my foot! Wait until my girlfriend gets her hand on you."

" She'll love me so dearly." I save my work before I started to eat.

" You're starving." Dozzy makes the observations based on how ravenous I am.

" You don't know the half of it. I've not eaten anything since yesterday." I was too tired to cook any meal yesterday, and this morning, I was late.

"And you wouldn't have eaten anything had I not given you this." He looks at me with pity.

" I guess you're a lifesaver."

" Finish it fast, you still have some work in hand."

" Yeah," I look at the system. " I have like five more databases to create before I complete my daily work."

" Good luck, then. I'll see you later in the evening. Don't worry, I'll let you know when it's time to go."

" Thanks for the meal, and the future reminder." I bade him farewell.

Completing the five remaining databases, I relax on the chair.

"Gosh, that was one hectic work." I smile at my handiwork.

Checking my work, I made sure there were no mistakes in it.

I check the time on the clock and found out it was still 4:00.

"I guess I still have time to....."

My desk phone rang, expertly cutting off my musing.

The sound startled me out of my skin based on the fact I had not heard the phone ring before.

Looking at the still ringing phone, I was torn between what to do and what not to do. Should I pick up the call, or should I not?

"Hello." Deciding at the last minute to pick up the call in case it happens to be something urgent, I keep the phone a little distance from my ears.

"It took you long to pick up the damn phone." Came the reply from the other end.

"Sir…. sir?" I stutter in fear when I heard the voice of the devil's incarnate.

"Yes, am the one."

"What do you want? I mean…. why are you calling?"

Last I checked, aside from the incident of this morning, there's no cause for him to call me now.

" Come to my office."

" Par….par…pardon?" I blink.

My heart skipped more than a beat, the organ beating as if it were on the verge of escaping from my chest.

" I want you in my office before 2 minutes."

" But I have....."

" Be there, don't waste any time." He disconnects the call.

" That mother fun…." I look around the office for any hidden camera.

There's no way I can put it past Mr Mar not to have a hidden camera somewhere in my office.

I didn't see any camera when I scooted this place, but that doesn't mean there's none here. God forbid, the Devi incarnate won't have a CCTV in here.

Before leaving the office, I made sure I make myself as presentable as I can.

Straightening my rumpled shirt, I tuck it into my trousers. Setting my tie well, I run a hand through my hair.

Making sure I look presentable compared to how I looked this morning, I walk out of my office, and towards the elevator.

Pressing the button for the second to the last floor, I pray to whatever deity might be listening that today shouldn't end worse than yesterday did.
