38 Chapter 38 The Way Back

The next day, John had woken up and gotten up he went out and came back with four filled gas cans. The group started to come out of the motel, and they saw John filling the vehicles with fuel. They asked him where he got it and he said he siphoned it from multiple cars, the group was constantly impressed by John's various different skills.

When the group had eaten and then they were ready to leave. John started to drive, and Alicia asked, "So, what is the prison like?"

John answered, "It is a large prison. Surrounded by two metal fences and the building itself is made of rebar enforced concrete. There are many towers that surround the prison. Overall, it is a great place to defend."

Alicia got excited and said, "Do you think the prison will last? It won't be destroyed, will it?"

John smiled and said, "I seriously doubt it the only thing that could destroy that place is a tank."

Alicia shocked said, "A tank! Who owns a tank nowadays?"

John smiled and said, "Maybe someday my group will."

As they continued to drive down the road John and Alicia grew closer and closer. It was only after 12 hours of driving, did they stop, they were now in a small town in Arizona, they hopped out of the cars. They split up and started to search some of the small businesses in town, John and Alicia went into a small convenience store. They split up and started to search, a while later John had picked up some peanut butter crackers.

Suddenly John heard Alicia cry for help, he ran over and saw a walker on top of her. John pulled his pistol and quickly shot it in the head, John then ran over to her and hugged her. Her small body was shaking as she cried in John's chest, this had been her first close call with a walker. She had been very sheltered to how the world is now, this experience had made her realize how dangerous those things were now.

They hugged for a while longer before Alicia had stopped drying, she didn't let go of John though. She stayed in his embrace for a couple minutes longer, then they stood up. They started to scavenge again, but this time John did not leave Alicia alone. When they finished, they went to the car and saw that the others weren't back yet.

So, John brought Alicia to some cars that were parked nearby and taught her how to siphon gas from the cars. When they had filled three gas cans full; they went back to the cars again and looked for everyone, but they still weren't back.

John seeing this frowned before he told Alicia to get in the car, lock the doors and wait for him to come back. John then walked over to the other car and saw that Griselda had turned into a walker. He opened the door and quickly stabbed her in the head with his knife.

John then walked over to another small shop and when he got inside, he saw that Travis, Chris, and Liza were surrounded by walkers. John quickly killed them before he searched the store with the rest of the group. He felt relieved when he saw that they were all right. He searched the bathroom and the stockroom but found nothing too useful.

John then went to another store, with his group following him. There he saw Daniel and Ofelia were now walkers and there were also 4 other walkers in the store. John killed them and searched for the rest of the group but saw that they were nowhere to be found in that store. Travis, Liza, and Chris were shocked because they had just seen Daniel and Ofelia a while ago. Travis seemed down as he comforted Liza, Chris seemed unaffected and the gaze he gave was chilling.

John went to the next store and saw 5 walkers, banging on a wooden door and they were really trying to get inside. John pulled his pistol out and rapidly fired 5 times killing all the walkers. He then walked to the door and knocked on it slowly, he said, "Hey Madison, Nick, are you in there."

The door then opened and John saw that both Nick and Madison were okay. He then told them about what had happened to Daniel and Ofelia. The rest of the group and Madison hugged each other. Nick comforted his mother as they walked to the car and got in, after Alicia unlocked the door for them.

Alicia asked, "Where are Daniel and Ofelia?"

Hearing this Madison burst into tears, and John said, "They didn't make it".

Alicia broke down into tears as she hugged John, seeing as they were now stocked with supplies, John started to drive after the girls looked a little better. Alicia didn't let go of John's hand for the entire ride and when they stopped to rest. They cleared a house, John and Alicia took one room, Chris, Travis and Nick took a room and Madison and Liza took another. John and Alicia then lay down on the bed as Alicia snuggles deep into John's chest, she had begun crying as soon as they entered the room.

The trauma of losing two people she grew close to, made her want the comfort of someone who she could feel safe with. She fell asleep after crying for a long while, and John just stayed up, comforting Alicia when she woke up suddenly from nightmares.

Over the next 2 weeks, John had become very close with Alicia and her family. John and Alicia had sex a couple of times and she felt she really knew John. She was beginning to fall in love with John. She had felt it since John had saved her, but she didn't know what it was at first. Over time she had learned that she only felt this way when she was in John's embrace.

It had taken so long because the roads were way more blocked on the way back. They had to take really long detours, but they had gotten stronger over the time they spent with John. That's why a trip that should have only taken 33 hours had taken two weeks.

But finally, they had arrived at the prison and Carl had opened the gate for them when he saw John was driving. John then went into the yard, before they parked. John, Alicia, Madison, Nick, Travis, Liza, and Chris got out of the car. Rick greeted them as they walked over, Maggie, Amy, and Sarah walked over to John and hugged him. When they saw Alicia with John, they knew this was the person he had wanted to bring back. Maggie and Amy talked to Alicia for a while, and they got along quite well.

Madison and her group greeted Rick and he had them settled into the prison in no time. John and his group had arrived in the evening, so they ate dinner together before John went to his tower, bringing along Maggie, Amy, and Alicia. They had left Sarah with Lori as she was already asleep after she ate dinner. The cutest thing is that Sarah tried to stay up to play with John after dinner, but she fell asleep in his arms.

Maggie and Amy remembered the promise John had made them and they looked expectantly at John. Alicia had also been brought into the loop, but she didn't want to have a baby at this time, but that didn't mean Alicia didn't want to have sex with John tonight, together with Amy and Maggie.
