The Walking Dead: A Survival Tale

A man dies and is reincarnated in an alternative universe in the middle of the 2000s. Although it's a different universe from his own, things are pretty much the same, with very few differences. Using what he knew about some events, our protagonist uses his knowledge to become a billionaire. He was satisfied, as he had everything he wanted. Until... 'Congratulations to you for owning the one and only SHOP, where you can buy food, weapons, ammo, and many other things to help you on your journey through the Apocalypse!' An interface/message appeared in front of him, deeply confusing our protagonist. And the content of the message wasn't good either. ''Apocalypse !?!? What is happening!'' A few days later, news started to show some crazy people biting others. ''... That's bad, isn't it?'' ------------------ The Image is AI generated; I own nothing. 38 - Woodbury (1)

Quickly, but still not trusting everyone, Michonne met all the residents of block 3. She quickly asked Gabriel, ''When can I see Jonathan again? I have some news for him from the outside world.''

Gabriel didn't think there was anything wrong with that. Although he had only recently arrived at the prison, he knew that information from the outside world was essential. ''He usually appears at lunchtime, to distribute the food. You can talk to him then.''

Michonne nodded, ''Thank you for accompanying me. But, if you don't mind, I'd like to rest now.''

The cell/room Michonne chose was as remote as possible. After all she had been through in the short time since the apocalypse began, she didn't want to make any kind of connection with anyone. Connection leads to affection, and affection, in this new world, was a weakness.

''It's okay. If you need anything else, just call me.'' Gabriel watched as Michonne went to her room. He looked at the swords in his hand and noticed that they were covered in blood, 'God have mercy on those who have no shelter.'

Although Jonathan knew Michonne's personality and how she was, he still made her give the swords to Gabriel. Well, he didn't even say anything, Gabriel just mentioned that it was a small rule until she gained everyone's trust and Michonne promptly gave him the swords.

Gabriel, after he saw Michonne enter her room, went back to his business.

WITH JONATHAN

While Michonne was adjusting to her room, Jonathan was trying to remember as much as he could about the Governor. But, the biggest problem is that this universe he was in, did not seem to follow certain sources. One time it seemed to follow the comics and another time it seemed to follow the plot of the TV series.

Therefore, every attempt to form a plan ended in frustration, as he didn't know where to start looking. Jonathan knew that Woodbury was close, but now, without the internet to help him, it was difficult to know exactly where it was. And in the physical map they had, the town didn't exist.

'Come on Jonathan, try to remember!' But, even after hours since he started thinking, he couldn't remember the exact location, 'That means that until I find out the exact location, my hands are tied.'

Jonathan could simply take Daryl's motorcycle and go out looking around a certain radius of the prison, but he didn't want to do that, 'It would take too long and there was no guarantee that I would find it.'

Frustrated, Jonathan was about to continue thinking when his stomach rumbled. Looking at his watch, which he bought from the store for a thousand dollars, he saw that it was already lunchtime, 'Time goes fast when you have things to do.'

Still, Jonathan stopped what he was doing and went to the kitchen. There, he found Samantha making portions for every block. He quickly approached her, '' Has Nathanael told you that we found a survivor?''

Samantha nodded, '' Yes. I have already added her portion... Did she also appear in your 'dreams'?''

Jonathan was not going to say anything more on that subject, but still, he nodded, '' Yes.''

Samantha noticed that he wasn't going to talk about it anymore and dropped it, '' By the way, the farm is already self-sustaining, even with the increase in the number of people. We might not need your 'gift' any longer.''

This was something Jonathan was happy about since it had been one of his goals from the beginning. He wouldn't confess, but he feared that one day the SHOP would simply stop working and he would be left without his Cheat in this world. That would be a nightmare, not because of the zombies, but because of food and water.

''Good to know.'' Jonathan took the food portion destined for Block 3, '' I'll take it to Gabriel and you take it to Rick... I'll tell you, this thing of moving from block to block, whenever we need to distribute food, is getting on my nerves, ever. Do you think it's time we unified all groups in one block?''

Counting Gabriel, Rick, and Jonathan's group, the three blocks have, at most, 40 people. And each block has approximately 100 cells. If they wanted, they could all be in the same block. Although Jonathan wanted privacy, he was also looking out for his own well-being, and this moving between blocks daily was getting on his nerves.

''Let's bring this up with the others in the afternoon or evening when everyone is rested. Let them eat now.'' Samantha didn't care much about this, and didn't see any problem in the joining of the blocks.

Jonathan nodded and went out to deliver the food. He quickly arrived at block 3 and knocked on the door.

Again, it was Patrick's daughter who opened the door. When she saw the food, she smiled, "Yay!''

Jonathan quickly walked in and went straight to the kitchen. He left the meals and wanted to leave quickly, to think of a solution to the problem called Governor.

But before he could leave Block 3, Gabriel stopped him. ''The survivor you brought in, Michonne, says she wants to talk to you. It sounds important.''

Although he was in a hurry, Jonathan didn't mind giving Michonne one, two, or three minutes of his time, "Where is she?''

Gabriel pointed to the farthest cell, ''There.''

''As expected.'' Jonathan thanked Gabriel for the direction and went to Michonne's cell. Arriving at the front of the cell, he saw that the door was open, and Micchone was on the bed looking at the ceiling.

''I heard that you want to talk to me?'' As soon as Jonathan finished speaking, Micchone looked at him. She got out of bed and stood in front of him.

Jonathan, despite his smaller stature, was not intimidated. Michonne stared at him for a while before she said, "I don't know how you can trust a stranger so easily? But I'm grateful for that. Again, my name is Micchone.''

This time, however, Michonne extended his hand to Jonathan, who didn't hesitate to shake it.

''Once again, welcome to your new home. You may not trust us yet, but I assure you that we are normal people. ''

Although the first contact between the two had been hours ago, Michonne felt that she could trust, even if not that much, the boy in front of her.

''We will see about that''. Micchone pulled her hand back, ''I have information that you might like.''

'' Oh?'' Jonathan was intrigued, "If you want, you can start talking. I'm all ears.''

Michonne then began to tell his story, '' While I was out there, going from town to town looking for supplements, I found one less than 100 km from here, called Woodburry.''

Jonathan's interest immediately picked up and he listened even more carefully.

''I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm not what you might call sociable. So, just like I did with your group, I watched them for a while, to see if I could get in and get some supplements, but...''

''What I saw there made me give up asking for help.''

Even with almost no information, Jonathan now sort of knew that the Governor they were dealing with was the one from the Comics. And that made him curse. 'Shit! Damn, it!'

This version of the Governor was the worst. If the one in the series was a villain, the one in the comics was a diabolical psychopath. One of the 'little' things he did was cut off Rick's hand for no reason, torture and do things to Micchone, and break Gleen's mind.

'' The town had a leader who was called the Governor. From what little I could see, he would take people from the outside and force them to fight in a ring against zombies. But that's not what I wanted to talk about.''Michonne sounded more serious now, '' On one of my rounds around town, I overheard a group of people who had just arrived at the gates talking about a group that was nearby. Supposedly, they had a great place to stay and so, with no other options, I left the place and went to look for this group.''

'' And you think this group is ours, correct?''

Michonne nodded, '' Yes. And if I found it in less than three days, I don't doubt they could do the same.''

'' Hmmmm.'' Although it didn't change much, it was always good to be prepared for this kind of thing. '' Thanks for telling me. I'll talk to the rest of the people about this and keep an eye out.''

''Please do.'' Michonne then returned to her cell, ''Goodbye.''

Jonathan knew she wanted to be alone, but before he left, he asked, '' Can you tell me where this town is?''

Michonne nodded. She quickly pointed out the direction of Woodbury in the map Jonathan pulled out of his ass, and the approximate miles it was away.

''Thanks. See you later.'' Jonathan left Michonne aread, said goodbye to Gabriel, and went to block 1 again. He arrived at his room soon after and looked at the map.

With the location of Woodbury in hand, Jonathan smiled, ''I'll get rid of one more variable!''
