Sarah shielded Laura away from my view while throwing a side eye to Wanda who was toying around with Kimura. Sure the girl could phase, but against someone who's been training to hit immaterial objects was just a bad match-up.
"So, what will your choice be?" I turned to Sarah and asked.
I might be saying that but her choices weren't all that better. If she refuses then she'll just be putting herself and her daughter up for grabs when the execs decides to come for her.
Charles definitely wouldn't pick up Laura's signature because the Cerebro is the farthest thing from omniscient. And it's not like he's clocking in to it every single day.
Sarah's face had despair clouding it as she heard my words. "What do you want from us? Whatever it is, please she's just a child!"
My facial expression was the closest thing to a dead face anyone's ever seen but I didn't make any effort to correct her thoughts until she came to a decision.
Seeing me not answering her cries, she took a look at Laura and then looked at me with plea in her eyes. "I just want to give her a normal life. I can do anything for you, but I just want her to be safe." She begged.
My voice as bland as it could be with its robotic undertone that creeped people out, "If that is her wish, then I'll see to it that it is done."
Laura was looking at me with heavy distrust and skepticism and if it weren't for her mother, she'd most likely have bared her claws at me and lose woefully.
Unlike her daughter, Sarah thanked me with a resigned look but this wasn't the time for straightening her misconceptions.
Laura was the 29th clone they've made and also the only one successful because Sarah had grafted in her DNA to that of Wolverine's without anybody knowing until much later.
Meaning we can go to town with this base. While it's fun sniping mercenaries this past week, I wanted a fight, at least one I could exert a level of effort on. And I also want to test out a few kinks of this body.
"Round that up Wanda. We have a couple of squads incoming."
Wanda shouted back. "… I'm trying. She just won't stay down." Looks like she just noticed that despite looking disheveled, Kimura was fine for the most part.

"She's impervious to all outward physical damage. Try damaging her from the inside."
With that said, I left the stunned mother and daughter duo and walked around the edge of the hole I dug and stood in front of the incoming group.
No one said anything as they all rushed at me while I stood and waited for them.
Some of them had guns and knives, stupid, while a few of them were mutates like Kimura.
'Let's tone it down, shall we?'
[Order affirmed]
'Well, it's not an order but whatever.'
I ignored the bullets and caught the fist of the first guy that got to me and from his widened eyes and the force behind his punch, a mutate, and crushed it, followed by a chop that went wrong.
My hands went straight through the back of his neck and decapitated him.
I threw his body away just in time to duck as an adamantium bladed arm passed through where my head had been.
Unlike Kimura, this guy only had some sections of his body covered in adamantium while the other parts were vulnerable. While it wasn't visible to the naked eyes, adamantium's vibrating frequency was something I was somewhat familiar with.
I caught him by his outstretched hand and dragged him into the path of an incoming adamantium blade.
"Where the fuck did you guys get a shit load of adamantium from?" Wasn't this supposed to be some super duper rare metal that only a few people know of?
"Oh shi-"
Without even looking around, I knew I was surrounded but that didn't bother me in the slightest as I just outstretched my hands and took control of everybody around me and used the adamantium knife from the dead guy and targeted all their weak spots.
For those that were like Kimura with full immunity, well I just targeted their brains through their eye sockets.
It took me less than a minute to decimate the entire squadron around me so I turned to Wanda only to find her finishing off hers.
Seriously, this girl was a walking nuke. How come she didn't play a major role other than a vengeful witch in the MCU is something I'll never understand.
"Impressive." She really did impressive work with Kimura seeing as how she forcefully invaded the girl's mind and scrambled her brain to the point that even involuntary actions became hard to perform.
"Wait, where did you learn that?" I never taught her that, trust me.
She looked sheepishly at me as if embarrassed that I found out a white secret of hers.
"It's something that occurred to me when I was wondering how to take care of a speedster like Pietro."
True. Speedsters were very hard to mind control given how fast their brain works, and given her basic mastery of the mind arts, I can see why she went for the brute force method.
"What are we going to do with both of them?" She pointed at Sarah and Laura, the former looking as if she couldn't decide whether to pass out from shock or fear, while the former with gratitude? Admiration?
Her emotions were very wild, almost like an animal's.
Hmm, looking at her now, Sarah is a pretty good geneticist and as someone programmed for prime efficiency, it's only right that I put good talent to good use.
"She'll work for me if she's up to the task, and as for little Laura here," I chuckled as the teenage girl bared her teeth at me in a growl because of my words, "We'll let her choose what she wants."
They both looked surprised for different reasons but none of that matters now.
What matters now is that I've gotten a geneticist and a potential recruit under me. The rest can come later.
"We're leaving now."
