Seated behind his work desk, Aiden enjoyed the company of the silent study, while he dealt with some urgent state affairs that required his attention. Hours had gone by and he was finishing up his report on the progress of the northern provinces.

Disturbing the peaceful atmosphere, he heard two sharp raps on the door, the sound nearly reverberating through the quiet room and he raised his gaze from the desk, permitting the butler in.

"Come in"

Pulling the handle open, the old man strolled into the room, followed closely behind by a maid who held a small tea tray in her hands.

"Good afternoon, my lord" the butler greeted, his fine white hair swept into a bun at the back of his head.

"You haven't had much all day so I thought to bring you some refreshments. Please have some, my lord" the butler announced softly, now standing in front of Aiden, motioning for the maid to carry on with the serving of the tea.
