Let's skip class

I left the principal's office without the slightest hint of nervousness, a confident smile hanging on my lips despite the admonitions I had just received. The scene, which might have seemed intimidating to others, actually left me with no regrets. Once the door closed behind me, I found Rhea and Nyx waiting patiently for me, leaning against the hallway wall. Their faces lit up seeing me leave so quickly.

-So what did the old lady say?, asked Rhea with a glint of mischief in her eyes.

-Nothing too bad, I replied, smiling maliciously.

-Your smile says it all, Rhea added with a chuckle, come on, tell me

-I'll tell you in detail later, I replied, this time amused

Nyx, with her eternal smirk, motioned for me to follow her.

-Come on, let's skip the next classes and go to my place, she suggested in a cheerful tone.

Without hesitation, I accepted the invitation. Rhea seemed torn between excitement and hesitation, but eventually gave in to temptation.

-Don't tell me that your mother burned that you were drying out, I scoffed

-She put a GPS on my phone, Rhea simply told us with a sigh

-I think she didn't understand that nothing can stop US, I told her with a smirk.

After this brief discussion we set off, taking care not to attract attention. However, we had barely taken a few steps down the corridor when the director's authoritative voice rang out behind us.

-You three, come back here right away!

Nyx burst out laughing and continued forward, dragging Rhea and me with her. I turned to give the headmistress a teasing smile, my eyes sparkling with challenge. It was as if that smile said, "You'll never catch up with us.

-Trying to catch up with us, I replied

The director, visibly annoyed, could only helplessly watch us walk away.

-I'll let you go but don't forget the apologies to make, the director murmured in a mocking tone under her breath

We rushed out of the school grounds, our laughter echoing in the spring air. Freedom awaited us beyond the walls of the establishment, and nothing seemed able to hinder our momentum.

At Nyx, the atmosphere was imbued with an almost palpable serenity, far from the worries and reprimands of school. We had left the living room to move into his bedroom, a space that belonged entirely to us, where the outside world seemed to have no influence. The bed was covered with all kinds of snacks: chips, candy, cookies and soda. This was our arsenal for an intense brainstorming session.

-To our wickedness, she declared, raising her improvised glass.

-Ours, I replied, clinking glasses with my friends.

I drank the whole of my glass before putting it on the ground. I then plopped down on the bed, grabbing a bag of chips on the way. Rhea sat cross-legged beside me, while Nyx lay on her stomach, watching us.

-Why activate the black code and not the red code? she asked, biting into a cookie.

I took a deep breath before starting.

-Code black is our ultimate alarm signal, I explained. It's for critical situations, when you have to act quickly and well. And there we are right in the middle of it.

-Remember that code red only activates on rare occasions, Nyx reminded him
