Chapter 28 (The Dungeon)

*OUTSIDE THE DUNGEON ENTRANCE*

"So this is it, this is the dungeon and the nest of all the monsters. And my goal is to get to its deepest floor for Intel.". Yamato says as he looks at the huge entrance.

Its entrance was big as a house and the looks were of a cave and the place where it was looked like it had been blasted with bombs as the surface was deeper than normal.

"It's just like a cave, but with killing instincts coming out of it. I wonder if their prime objective of existence is to kill me. If so then this might be trouble."

Yamato took a huge breather and went directly into the dungeon.

The inside of the dungeon was wide and very similar to a cave. There were many weird voices coming from the inside though, which by no question were the demons and the beasts.

Yamato started roaming around the dungeon following the voices. His movements were slow and silent as he didn't know where the tunnels end to and there was no relevant map.

*ZIP*

He sensed a living presence near him.

"I sense something, but it's weak, but I got to be cautious right now." he says as he talks toward the navigation

He activates all his silent assassin type abilities to be ultra cautious while walking to the pits.

He walks and walks until he saw the body In front of him.

"There it is, but it's kinda small in size though."

When he got close enough to be able to see the being, it was just a small minion.

"PFFT... HAHAHA THAT'S JUST A TOY AND YOU WERE GETTING CAUTIOUS AS HECK." Akari laughed.

"AAAAHHHHHH SHUT UP." he says as he slices through the minion…

Most of the floors were easily passed as there were usually low level minions or some normal beasts, so it wasn't all that trouble.

Yamato slid though the monsters like it was nothing but a crowd of normal people.

But the deeper he got into the dungeon, the difficulty level increased.

"Phew, it is easy to walk through the but it is taking up all my stamina. I won't have enough stamina if I have to fight the general if this keeps on."

"How about taking a break?"

"Nah, I want to make it as quick as possible."

"Alright...."

"Anyway, how many floors are there in total."

"Hmm wait let me check."

Akari uses the environmental scan to check for nearby structure and any living thing.

"There are about 7 floors left and most of the enemies are just scums. But there is someone entertaining near the bottom floor."

"Entertaining? I get a bad feeling about this...."

"Anyway let's get moving."

"Yeah."

Yamato started to descend more to the bottom.

*SLICE*

*SQUASH*

*STRIKE*

Yamato dashed towards the floors with no break until he reached the third last floor.

"This feels weird"

Akari says

"What's weird?"

"I can't sense anyone in this floor."

"Huh? That's awkward."

"Yeah, there are two reasons of not sensing. 1. The opponent is much more powerful than me and is expert in hiding its presence. 2. There is no one."

"Well I doubt there are any powerful one here, so maybe they just shifted."

"That's what I think too "

"Well let's get moving for now. I have taken many materials, so first I'll make an armor."

He checks his materials and finds really nothing that can suit him well.

"Uhh no materials. That's bad."

*STRIKE*

"Hey, hey I sense some high material nearby."

"What do you mean high material?".

"A material with high durability and strength."

"Can it be used for armor and stuff?"

"That's on luck."

"Alright so where is it?"

"See the tunnel 9 O'clock to you?"

"That's one dark tunnel."

"Yeah, I sense it from there."

"Scary...."

Yamato goes to the tunnel and finds a box. More like a chest.

He opens the box and once again finds a recording.

"I leave this material for you and if you are informed enough, then you surely can use it for something good and creative and helpful."

Yamato looks inside the box and finds scales of some creature and a dagger.

"What am I supposed to do with the scales...."

"Wait don't tell me....are they THE SCALES OF THE DRAGON!?"

"SCALES OF WHAT?"

"Yeah you heard me correct. The scales of a dragon and with no conflict, they are strong and strongest in most cases."

"And I suppose they too are gifts from the general."

"Yeah and I'll put them in the virtual space as you don't need them for now."

"Virtual what?"

"Say 'Virtual Inventory' "

"Virtual Inventory?"

A small black hole type thing appeared before Yamato.

"What's this?"

"Just put anything inside it, and it will remain unscratched."

"So it's like a bank, huh?"

"A bank? What's that?"

"Eh nothing."

Yamato puts the scales Inside the portal and a dagger which was also in the chest.

"Now let's move on."

Soon Yamato was In front of the dungeon's bottom gate and unexpectedly there were no guards as he passed.

The entrance was dark and there were many statues which were placed in that room.

As Yamato got close to the door and was about to open it, a fire attack was launched at him from behind.

*SPLASH*

Yamato barely dodges the fire, and he sees something unpredictable.

The statues which were supposed to be decorations were moving, and we're hostile.

"So this is why I couldn't see anyone before."

"Yeah, that was just a warm-up area, here is the final boss."

"Then let's dig them up."

There were about 5 statues.

2 Mages on the back.

2 swordsman In front of the mages and 1 shield on front.

The strategy used was common and only defeating the shield would make a clear path to victory but killing it was difficult.

The two mages were also defenders and the only attackers were the swordsmen as backup.

"So I have to take down the shield first. This is gonna be difficult."

Yamato advanced towards the shield and tried to directly strike it with his swords. When he was in midair, the mages launched their attacks leaving Yamato with two choices, one to dodge them and second to take the hit and use the opportunity to strike the shield though there was no guarantee it would work.

"Gotta dodge it."

Yamato slashed the fire bolts instead and failed to strike.

He used the same technique many times, but it didn't work as there were two mages, and they were working as backups for each other.

"Oye Yamato you should think something else."

"But what?"

"Try using magic too. Using blade isn't the only tactic."

"OH YES! I STILL HAVE MAGIC."

"You actually forgot about that?"

"Anyway...so there are 2 Mages and 1 shield which are our main priority. So if I take on the attack from of the mages then the possibility that the same would use it again is literally 0%. So what if I launch an attack behind the clock and use magic to counter magic instead of blade and another spell to blind the other mage and use my blade to hit the shield."

"Stop muttering and do what you think is good."

"Okay..."

Yamato starts to cast two full power fire bolts and with them on hold, jumps towards the shield. As the mage uses its magic again, Yamato also releases his spell and counters it successfully and at the same time blinds the other mage.

He did that midair and took the chance to strike the shield's head and successfully strikes it but...

"SHIT I FORGOT ABOUT THE RECOIL."

The blade cracked half of the neck, but the recoil bounced Yamato back.

"Gotta do something gotta do something GOTTA DO SOMETHING!"

"Use recoil as an attack. Use your magic to create pressure and hold your ground, surely you have enough IQ to know what to do."

the sage said.

Yamato uses close wind magic and uses its recoil to bounce back on the shield and accelerates his frequency of his blades and cuts off the neck of the shield making it fall down.

He then used the huge body of the shield as a surface and jumps towards the mages.

He first strikes the mage he blinded and slashes it and then when he jumped towards the other mage, it launched a high level fire attack.

Yamato used his swords to shield himself, and he lost grip of the swords, and they fall.

He had no other weapon, and then he remembers about the dagger.

He pulls out his dagger from inventory and strike on the mage.

"Put your magic inside the dagger, and it will absorb it."

Yamato puts explosive magic on the blade once, and it blasted the head, he did it again and blasted it once again and again until the head was totally broken into pieces.

After defeating the mages, Yamato picks up his swords and quickly slashes through the remaining swordsmen.

"After this fight, I have no stamina left. I hope she doesn't betray me "

Yamato calmly opens the door, and he saw the former general Lukacia Celestine trapped with cursed chains to keep her seized.

"Now's the time you came The Vessel of Akari."
