Jianyu fell on the ground and he winced in pain as he pressed his left eye where he was hit. Li Fei turned to look at the raged Jin Liwei and she asked," What have you done?! You want to make him blind or worse kill him?"
"It will be better if he dies," he retorted before looking at her. "What are you doing kissing other men in my presence? Don't you have any dignity?!" "Kissing other men?! I-I didn't even notice when he kissed me and perhaps, I can do as I please because we are not together anymore You're the last person who should speak about dignity," she told him.
Jianyu stood up and said," You should stop controlling her because she's not yours anymore. She's my girlfriend and I can do anything I wish with her." Jin Liwei lost it and charged at him but before he could reach him, Li Fei tugged on his jacket and she said," You should leave. This is no place for you."
Just that moment, the guards of the building arrived.
"Is everything okay here?" they asked.
"No. This man trespassed at our property and he attacked me," reported Jianyu.
They looked at Jin Liwei and they asked," Is it true?" "Yes. He forgot to tell you that I am going to kill him," he said.
"Mister, you should be very careful about the things you say because you might end up in jail," the guard told Jin Liwei. "You think I'm scared? You can go ahead and do what you want." Li Fei intervened and said," He's going to leave. There's no need to drag issues that far." Looking at Jin Liwei, she said," Leave. Please."
After much deliberation, he turned and started walking away.
Seeing the situation back to normal, the guards left and she looked at Jianyu.
"Are you okay?" she asked and he nodded.
Walking him to his house, she got ice and pressed it on his bruises.
"Jianyu, I didn't like what you did back then and I hope that you don't do it again," she said.
"He followed us to the restaurant and back home. I did it so that he could back off," he said. "It wasn't the right way. I told you that we should take things slowly." "I'm sorry," he said. She took a deep breath and said," Let me hope you will be okay. I want to have some rest." "I'm fine you can go. Have a good night."
Reaching her house, Li Fei passed hands through her hair frustratedly as she remembered the words Jin Liwei told her. Did she really behave like a woman with no dignity? Yet it was Jianyu who kissed her? Anyway, she didn't owe him any explanation. But why was she feeling guilty as though she had cheated on him? Still lost in thoughts, she heard it start to rain and she decided to go to bed.
Changing into her night gown, she went to check if the windows were securely locked and as she was peeking outside, she saw a familiar car parking by the roadside.
Realizing that it was Jin Liwei's car, a frown appeared on her face as she wondered what he was doing there in this heavy rain. She couldn't tell if he was inside the car as the mirrors were tinted. She wanted to think that he had left it there and was not inside because it would be dangerous if he was there.
Putting back the curtains, she went to bed.
Unbeknownst to her, he was watching her from the car.
The next day in the evening as Li Fei was waiting for a cab, Jin Liwei parked in front of her. "Let me drop you," he offered. "No. I thought I made myself clear," she said. "Yes you did. And I promise to give up on you if you let me drop you home." "I don't believe you," she said. "I think you should take the risk if you want me to leave you in peace. It's only a ride," he said and she thought before saying," Fine."
Opening the door, she sat in and he started the car.
After much silence in the car, he asked," How is your boyfriend?" She looked at him and said," Good. He's good."
When he didn't say anything else, she looked outside the window and she started thinking. What was going to happen next? What if he gets another woman?! Will she be able to take it? She turned to look at him and she found him staring at her. "What is it?" he asked. She shook her head and said," Nothing. Focus on the road." When he looked onto the road, her eyes turned to look outside and she realized something.
"This is not the route to my house. Where are we going?" He didn't reply and only kept driving. "Jin Liwei? What is the meaning of this?" she asked again but got no response.
"I'm going to scream," she threatened.
"You can go ahead," he told her and she swallowed before saying, "Nothing of this is going to make me change my mind. Stop the car right here." When he didn't listen to her, she decided to calm down for she was sure that he wasn't going to hurt her.
He drove them towards a deserted place and she noticed that the speed of the car was increasing with time. "Slow down," she said and he instead increased. When she looked outside, she realized that they were driving on a dangerous road. They were on a cliff and one wrong move from him would make them fall off and die.
"Why don't you listen! You're going to get us killed!" she screamed at him but he didn't listen.
Not long after, she didn't know where rain came from, and it fell heavily. It was vision blurring but he didn't slow down and she panicked. "What is your problem?!" she asked glaring at him. "Tell me that you're coming back to me," he demanded.
"You're crazy! You know it's not- " she couldn't complete her statement when she felt the car slide on the slippery slope. She looked below the cliff and she saw that it was very high.
