Living to the Moment(1)

"Miss! Miss!" My nursery maid, Lillia, yelled at me as she dragged me towards a clothing store. She was filled with enthusiasm that I had missed very dearly in my previous life. She gave me too much hope for me to lean on.

"Miss Belle! Look at this Dress! This is perfect for you to wear at Marquis Leo's Banquet!" Lilla yelped at me as she pointed towards a velvet midnight blue gown. The gown was filled with a gold streamlined waist belt that matches the chest.

"Lillia, I think it's too much, let's look for something- less flashy," I say, waving my hands up and down, my way of saying no.

"Ah! But Miss Belle, didn't you say that you wanted to look outstanding?" Lillia asked, confused with my change of words. Ah... did I really say that?

Not that I didn't want to look outstanding... but I wanted to be out of everyone's eyes to be pointed at. I didn't want to be noticeable at all. After all that I had already gone through. Misery. Pain.

I didn't want any more attention. Not how the darkness already scarred me.

"No need Lillia, I think it's quite unnecessary to attract more than enough attention," I say. "Although, I do appreciate your help,"

Lillia's puppy dog eyes darkened, and her doggy ears went flat down. I couldn't help but feel kind of disappointed for ruining this maiden's hopes.

All maidens had hopeful dreams. I did too. Now that it was all shattered. There was no point in dreaming anymore. I gritted my teeth, as I sighed to hold myself back. I patted Lillia's head and said,

"How about I chose your dress?"

Lillia looked shocked when I said that. Her eyes seemed to have been popped out after I said that. "No! Miss Belle! There is no way-!"

"Of course, there is way. Just consider this as a token from your miss daughter," I say. "You need to attend the ball too. There is no way I would make you dress like a dog in rags,"

"But- this is your-"

"No more no's. I am your master, and you will obey my orders. You heed my commands? Now let's find a perfect dress for you," I say as I grab her by her wrist and dragged her over to find a perfect dress. Lillia was a few years older than me. She was almost like my older sister. Nineteen at most. Too bad she didn't get married yet. But I didn't want her to leave me. Although it was selfish.

I found a dark blue gown, wrapped in fluffy fabric, draped with dark velvet clothing. It should suit Lillia really well. In contrast to Lillia's dark eyes, this dress would look fantastic. This way, she would really find her groom.

Just as I was about to reach for it- another woman grabbed it out of my hands and snatched it from me.

"Watch your filthy hands, you servant!" she said angrily.

S-servant? I looked down on my clothes and I saw myself wearing a normal blouse and skirt. It looked like a commoner's dress because I didn't want to attract attention. But why did this woman call me a servant?

"How dare you insult my Miss!" Lillia snapped angrily.

"Lillia-" I warned Lillia with a sharp and cold tone and silenced her. Lilla looked like she was about to start bickering.
