The Vampire Prince's Slave

The prince’s smile was so enchanting that Vanessa forgot what she was doing and simply gawked up at the handsome vampire prince with her hands still resting on his chest. Klyde’s mouth kicked up in a smirk, and he could not help but tease, “If you keep caressing me like this, I might have the wrong intentions towards you, little butterfly.” — When Vanessa’s name is chosen to be the next sacrifice for the vampires, the girl vows to do her best and survive at the hands of the blood monsters. But her first foray into the vampire world is not so simple and neither is the master that she must serve and give herself to. For here in Transmere, she is nothing but a slave. Prince Klyde is known for his ruthless and cold nature. And yet, one look into the striking eyes of his new slave and a burning desire to possess her body and soul is the only thing on his mind. But a romance between vampires and humans is taboo as humans are nothing but food— a necessary evil for survival. As Vanessa and Klyde struggle to deal with their forbidden feelings, an enemy in the dark has unleashed evil forces at work to overthrow the King of Transmare. Klyde must fight to maintain the peace of the common vampires and the humans they have promised to protect with each sacrifice. Will the star-crossed lovers be able to save the kingdom from doom or will they burn as a result of their passion, resulting in their own ruin?

Third Attack

While Vanessa made her way back in the direction of the kitchens that she had been in with the two maids earlier, Vanessa could only cross her arms in front of her and hug herself. The butler gave her a long list of all the things that the mean prince needed to be done and gave her enough orders that she wondered if she would even remember them all.

Grudgingly, Vanessa prepared the tea as she was told and took it to the prince. Her stomach was in knots as she thought about facing the prince again, but what choice did she have?

With her thoughts all focused inwards as she walked through the corridor while balancing the delicate teacup, she failed to notice the shadow that followed her as she turned the corner towards the prince’s library.

Suddenly, Vanessa felt herself being grabbed with such speed and force that her breath hitched.

Attacked for the third time in a single night, Vanessa let out an ear-piercing shriek that echoed throughout the hallways while the teacup and tray that she had been holding fell to the floor with a clattering sound.

As everything started to spin, her eyes landed on the person… no, the vampire that had pulled her violently into that dark corner. He snarled, and Vanessa let out another deafening shriek that made the vampire’s sensitive ears ring, causing him to wince.

The vampire growled, covering her mouth with his filthy hands. Opening his mouth wide, he cocked his head to the side so that he could bite into her neck.

Vanessa kicked him in the groin, but it seemed not to have made an impact. He was bent on devouring her. His eyes were black— there was no sclera, the white of a normal person’s eyes. It was as if he had obsidian orbs in his eye sockets.

Vanessa continued to struggle, but it was clear that her struggles and attempts to free herself were proving futile. He was way stronger than she was and had saliva coming out of his mouth like a wild animal that had not fed in a while and had just found its prey.

Her mind told her to keep shrieking. She had evaded two ‘royal’ bloodsuckers so she was not going to be an easy prey for this one! Maybe she should try biting him like she had Prince Kaine.

Just as suddenly as she had been cornered, the vampire was pulled off her and flung away. In an instant, she watched him being flung away and crash into a stone statue, causing the thing to break with a loud crash. However, while the statue shattered, the vampire seemed to not have suffered from the impact.

The vampire merely stood up and shook his head before snarling at the person who dared to interrupt his meal. Vanessa’s eyes followed the wild vampire’s gaze and saw that it had been Prince Klyde that had saved her again.

The vampire hesitated for a moment when he noticed the prince. But soon, he snarled and bared his fangs at the prince, maintaining only the feral, hungry expression. It seemed as if he had recognized the prince for a split second before hunger and madness had overtaken him.

Soon, green saliva started to stream down from the mouth of her attacker. Vanessa stepped back in fear, almost trying to merge into the wall. Even when Prince Kaine and Prince Klyde had been angrily arguing, she had not seen green saliva…

She turned to look at Prince Klyde, wondering if it was normal for a vampire to have this much amount of green saliva coming out of his mouth. Was this some sign of anger in vampires? No, that could not be.

Even when the loathsome princes had been butting heads against each other, she had not seen any sign of green spit when she had finally opened her eyes.

Prince Klyde noticed this too. His brows creased for a second before his facial expression became serious.

For a moment there, the prince looked like he was worried about something and Vanessa

wondered what it was. She guessed that it must have something to do with the

vampire that had attacked her.

“Move back, Vanessa. This vampire is infected,” Prince Klyde said without a glance at her.

She didn’t waste a second. Vanessa took several steps backward and stood in a corner of the walls that lined the hallway. She put her head out so that she could peep at what was about to happen between the infected vampire and Prince Klyde.

‘What did it mean for a vampire to be infected? What could infect a vampire?’ Vanessa wondered. ‘Weren’t they immortal?’

Vanessa was thankful that the prince had come to rescue her and the anger that she felt towards him earlier began to dissipate. Vanessa was grateful. She was so close to being bitten and fed on by an infected vampire. It would have been as bad as being bitten by a rabid dog, wouldn’t it?

“What a nuisance,” the prince murmured under his breath. His eyes hardened and glinted before he dashed forward. He seemed irritated at the sight of the vampire in front of him.

In a flash, Prince Klyde decapitated the vampire. He had moved so quickly that Vanessa hadn’t even caught sight of what had happened before it ended. All that Vanessa saw was the infected vampire’s head floating in the air before finding its destination on the floor with a thud. All gratefulness and positive feelings of a moment ago vanished.

This man was a ruthless killer.

Vanessa was shaken by the attack just now, and the icing on the cake was witnessing how Prince Klyde had killed the vampire that had almost bitten her. He had killed the vampire with his bare hands! The ease with which he had done this pointed to her that he had done this in the past as well. Maybe as often as swatting off a fly!

And now, that same prince had walked her back to her quarters while holding her hand, and all through, Vanessa wondered if it was the same person that had killed his kind just a few moments ago. At some point, Vanessa had struggled to remove her hand from his firm grip, but he had held still and had not let her go. It was the same hand that had just gripped the other vampire’s neck. And yet, his fingers curled around her wrist did not seem to be hurting her.

When they got to the door of her room, in a low voice, Prince Klyde said, “We have breakfast in a few hours. Come to my office first, then we’ll go together.”

Vanessa nodded in response to what he had just told her as she stared at him through widely opened eyes. She continued to stare at him and jerked when he stopped abruptly and turned his head a little so that he would speak over his shoulder.

“Go in now and lock your doors.”

He remained standing there till it occurred to Vanessa that the prince was waiting for her to enter her room. Hurriedly, she opened the door and walked into her room.

Vanessa placed her ears on the door and listened to Prince Klyde’s footsteps as he walked away.
