The value of a hero

This is a story about Doryoku Suzuki, a kid whose powerful and uncontrollable quirk gave him many problems throughout his life, and who unlike everyone else, his only dream and goal is to help his mother instead of being a hero. —The story mostly takes place at the same time as when Aizawa was studying at the U.A. —Bnha and the image on the cover don't belong to me obviously. —Any advice to improve the writing is welcome.

The strange training of Last laser

The next morning Doryoku got up at 5:00 a.m. since at 6:00 a.m. he must be in the UA according to what Last laser said.

Doryoku was still a bit tired from waking up last night and because he had a hard time sleeping after this, but he drew his strength from within and got out of bed to enlist and go to the academy.

As always, Doryoku quietly prepared himself and made a small breakfast for himself and his mother, then headed off to the academy along with some food for lunch in a bento.

Unlike always when he had to wear the mandatory UA clothing, Doryoku wore dark gray sports pants and a wine-colored shirt that his mother recently bought him, since comfortable clothes were another of the indications of Last laser.

Doryoku took the train and walked leisurely towards the academy while he enjoyed his journey as always.

Mornings were always a great time to enjoy the quiet of a walk, although he had to admit that the dim lighting at 5:30 a.m. made him a little nervous.

Anyway, after walking for a while longer, Doryoku arrived in front of the academy where he could see a paper stuck to the door.

"I'll wait for you in the Gamma training room" Doryoku read the only thing written in the letter with a pretty good calligraphy in his opinion.

From what Doryoku remembered, Oboro mentioned something about that place and that it was in the east of the academy, so Doryoku just went in that direction.

Upon arriving and entering the great training room, which was huge and spacious in size, had wooden floors and had nothing inside but a few steps, Doryoku looked around for someone.

But there was no one around, logical knowing that he always arrived excessively early, but welp.

Doryoku walked to the center of the room and sat cross-legged while he waited for Last laser and put the bento on his legs, although he only closed his eyes a little to rest since he had not brought his phone.

And after a few minutes, he almost fell asleep still sitting while he waited for Last laser.

Last laser arrived at the academy at 5:40 a.m. in his common hero clothes and he went to the Gamma training room to wait for the boy the director asked him to train.

And when he reached the training room, there was Doryoku Suzuki, the Kyanseru boy asleep in the center of the room.

'I knew he was always early because of what Ectoplasm told me, but it's more than I thought, I already like this brat' Last Laser thought with appreciation for the boy's punctuality.

"Hey brat! This is not the time to sleep" Last laser said loudly and with a warning tone causing Doryoku to jump a little scared and wake up.

Doryoku looked back and saw Last laser, so he got up from the ground a little wobbly from just waking up and approached him.

"Good morning Last laser-sensei, I hope I don't cause you too much trouble" Doryoku said cordially bowing still with his bento in hand and causing Last laser to nod in satisfaction.

"Good brat, you are very well educated, you must have a good mother" said Last laser quite comfortable with the boy's attitude towards his older ones.

"That's right, Last laser-sensei" Doryoku said with a calm tone and smiling slightly when remembering his mother.

"Laser-sensei is enough" Last laser said with a serious tone making Doryoku nod with understanding.

Last laser guided Doryoku to the stands and told him to sit down to begin explaining his training while he put the bento next to him.

"You see brat, I didn't have much time to explain to you last time but I will now" Last laser said with a serious tone as Doryoku paid attention and he began with his explanation.

Doryoku wouldn't have to go to class next month like the rest of the hero class students and he would just have to come to the training room every day to train and prepare to enter the hero class.

The training will be from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a whole month, this due to lack of time and in order to catch up with his classmates in heroic classes.

Doryoku nodded with understanding to everything said by Last laser so he decided to start with his first training.

"It is already 6:00 a.m. but before any training I want you to answer a question and remember what I will tell you always" Last laser said with a much more serious tone than before making Doryoku tense a little and nod.

"What's your biggest weakness brat?" Last laser asked Doryoku seriously making him think about it a bit.

"Emitters?" Doryoku asked curiously causing Last Laser to shake his head.

"Sharp weapons?" Doryoku asked again trying to guess and receiving another refusal from Last laser.

"Your feelings brat, take care of your feelings and do not let them go out in combat, I saw what happened to you at the sports festival in the fight against Aizawa and in paintball, now it is not so bad but if you let yourself control you will always end up regretting" Last laser said with an explanatory and serious tone as he remembered Doryoku fighting without thinking against Aizawa and letting himself be carried away.

Doryoku remembered that match and understood it, but he had no idea how to control his feelings and keep a cold mind.

"I know what you feel, logical people like you, me or Aizawa are not to express what we feel openly and we do not have great control over them, after all feelings and logic repel each other, but that alone makes it more dangerous, the day you let yourself be carried away by a negative feeling will be your misfortune, besides, you are worse than us, you don't have any practice with feelings from what I understand" Last laser said quite sure of that and with what which would seem to be a bit of regret while Doryoku was quite concerned at not having thought about it.

"When you fought against Aizawa, Shirakumo and in the second part of the festival you used your pure combat instinct and simply let out all your feelings, it would be very useful for certain cases, but it is not worth, because of the danger that it means to let yourself be carried away by them and just don't think" Last laser said with a terribly serious tone and making Doryoku nod again with nervous sweat.

The atmosphere was quite tense as Last laser searched for any reluctance in Doryoku about being careful, and finding nothing he simply said...

"Well, making that clear here is your first test" Last laser said looking at his vest and pulling something out.

Last laser threw whatever it was on his vest at Doryoku and he caught it in midair, and upon looking closer he noticed that it was an unfinished Rubik's cube.

Faced with the strangeness of this, Doryoku blinked a few times and looked at Last laser in clear confusion.

"Yes I know what you're thinking, but I know your quirk just like Director Nezu so this is the best I could think of" Last laser said calmly and scratching the back of his neck as he pointed at the Rubik's cube.

"I want you to finish it using your quirk, and I don't want cheating I want you to use it as it should and in its entirety" Last laser said with a serious tone making Doryoku nod still a little confused and activate his quirk.

Doryoku activated his bracelet and took the Rubik's cube with both hands to try to make the first turn until...

It blew off.

All the small cubes that made it up came undone and left Doryoku with his eyes blank and only the central part, in addition to his bracelet releasing some steam.

"There you have it, your control is practically null, I want you to finish the cube without burning your wrist and using your quirk, and I don't want you to cheat, believe me I'll know" Last laser said with a serious and warning tone, leaving the training room to advance his work.

"If you need any advice you can find me in the teachers' office, I'll be back in a while anyway" Last laser said in an explanatory tone as he walked towards the exit.

Doryoku searched for all the pieces of the Rubik's Cube and put it back together almost as it was before, and then tried to solve the Rubik's Cube again.

With great care and concentration, Doryoku managed to make a move with the Rubik's cube without it shattering again, causing it to have a small smile of pride.

But that lasted until he realized that his bracelet was burning a bit and was releasing a lot of steam, causing him to feel down again.

If Doryoku tried to make his bracelet not release too much steam, the Rubik's cube would explode, if he tried to make it not fly to pieces, his wrist would burn and if by some miracle he managed to maintain a balance, every time he thought to solve the Rubik's cube his concentration on the rest was fading.

He basically had to do it naturally to solve the Rubik's cube, and that would only come from trying thousands of times according to him, so Doryoku tried this as he had no other idea.

He tried many times and the same thing always happened, but at least there was a small improvement in each attempt which made him maintain perseverance and keep trying.

And so it was the rest of the day until 6:00 p.m. without he being able to solve the Rubik's cube but having a good start in his opinion.

He would have to keep trying tomorrow, although the training was simple it was very tiring for his mind to concentrate for so long, so Doryoku simply went home to rest.

While Doryoku was resting at home at 7:00 p.m. Azami was with Mirai in her room while she helped her with notes so she wouldn't be late at the academy after missing a day.

Mirai's room was... very yellow let's say, you could tell with the naked eye that it was her favorite color, as well as having an excessive amount of stuffed animals, which were curiously gifts from her father.

They were both on Mirai's bed in common clothes while she was hugging a yellow shark-shaped stuffed animal and paying attention to Azami's explanation.

"It's simple, see Mirai? You just have to follow the formula" Azami said in an explanatory tone as she taught Mirai about chemistry with her notebook and the latter nodded with almost understanding.

"Let's take a break Azami my brain hurts" Mirai said with a slightly constipated tone from her cold and a little tired from studying.

"Has anything interesting happened lately? I'm sure you have a good anecdote the quartet of idiots" Mirai asked with quite curiosity and expectation on the subject.

Although she may not seem like it, she quite enjoyed being friends with the quartet of idiots, every day she had something at least entertaining to see around them.

Like that time Aizawa showed an almost murky fascination for caterpillars, the time Oboro forgot his shirt and spent the whole day alone with the academy vest evading Last laser so that he would not be killed by him according to himself, or when Hizashi was very excited and screamed making all the windows explode.

"Everyone is in hero internships, the only one left is Suzuki-kun" Azami said with an explanatory tone and making Mirai drop a bit.

'The most boring and well behaved of all, what a disgrace' Mirai thought quite downcast and without remembering anything interesting that Doryoku had done.

Doryoku was always the same, he seemed like a kind of ghost, basically it was nice to talk to him according to Azami but for her he was almost like a responsible emo doll with no feelings.

"Suzuki-kun said that he would be training to enter the hero class" Azami said thoughtfully remembering his conversation with Doryoku and making Mirai look up in shock.

"What did you say Azami?!" Mirai said with shock taking Azami by her shoulders and shaking her like a rag doll in search of more information.

The bored Doryoku wanting something, that was impossible, surely some satanic pact would have behind at least, or so she thought.

Azami explained what he had talked with Doryoku in great detail to make Mirai understand, and making her have a thoughtful expression for a moment.

What bothered her the most was that for a profession you needed passion, something that to her sounded like a kind of formula for some kind of calculation.

She wanted to be a hero just like everyone else, and hearing the way Doryoku treated this, it exasperated her.

And yes, a few words awaited Doryoku from her.

Yup, I don't know what to write here so... That's it.
