The Undying Star

A star? I wasn't even close to being something as beautiful. But... undying? Yes. I was. Since death never ever accepted me into its embrace. So what if I live this story to its end one more time? Just one last time. I want to feel it, living, rather than death. Only once. What awaits me at the end of this never-finished draft, I wonder... Is it the cure to my curse, or yet another rebirth?

The approach of freedom

-Mmm... Mmmmm... This doesn't seem right... This isn't right....

Wiggling its tiny body, a wolf pup poked his head out of the thick blanket. Ears perked, sleepy eyes snapping open, and his fluffy tail restlessly slamming the bed, Lior circled around himself as if searching for something.

"What's the matter, Lior?"

-I, um, I think, something is wrong.

"What do you mean by that?"

Getting up and leaning back on the bed, Alaric rubbed his eyes with one hand and patted the child with the other. Despite his gentle touch, though, Lior didn't show any signs of calming down.

-Something is happening. Something very bad! I'm sure!

The child's tone was too stern and serious to be easily ignored. For such an honest and innocent kid to suddenly wake up in the middle of the night and make a scene for no reason at all... No. This wasn't normal.

"Tell me, what's bothering you?"
