CHAPTER 1 CONFUSION

Beyond the grip of the familiar.

A threshold demands to be crossed.

The Mortal Shells yearn for meaning,

Awaiting a glimpse of their true purpose...

This is what I heard when I felt myself slowly fly into the sky. My vision slowly started to turn dark but at the same time it's like I was opening them at the same time and very slowly the feeling of opening my eyes became much more apparent until that's all it became, me opening my eyes.

The shock of what happened is still present. After somewhat organizing my mind I started to slowly get up very, very slowly.

And at the same time I started to feel some pieces of my mind slip away while others seemed to come into focus.

Things like how to walk, fight and a whole lot of other things but more importantly I now knew where I am.

Walking forward I felt knowledge start to flood my mind but it also allowed me to finally put the fragmented memories that layer at the corners of my mind.

My name is Ash and I died from getting hit by a truck but that didn't bother me as much as where I was kicking some water as I walked.

I couldn't help but sigh when I approached a weird looking door however before I could even get close enough to touch it it slid down into the water in front of me stood a black figure and although he was a distance away I felt knowledge about a skill called hardening and I used it immediately because the black guy rushed towards me and swing a sword at me thankfully it wasn't night time or else I would've been in a serious disposition.

After the first attack it tried to attack again I threw myself to the side and rolled back on to my feet but also paying attention to the black figure and what it was gonna do next however it just clasped it's hands and faded away leaving me and a statue holding a sword and walking over I used a little strength to pry it from the statue grasp however I almost dropped it when I saw the white hand I mean sure knowing and seeing things are completely different but it also helped me accept my reality and that reality was that I am in mortal shell where everyone and thing wants to kill me or use me and then kill me however thankfully I was the foundling so my ascension was guaranteed to some extent

After that thought I picked up the sword and that must've triggered a hidden function seeing as the door like structure that was blocking my path quickly sank into the water

Walking past the doorway I immediately attacked and hardened myself mid swing.

Luckily I did it in time because that black guy came out of nowhere and attacked me and then quickly disappeared again when my attack hit the figure.

Looking around I saw something shiny walking over.

I picked it up and was surprised to find out that it was a mortal token as for what it could do remains a mystery for now.

After my findings I went to the last area were I knew I was gonna fight the black dude for real this time although I don't think it really matters seeing as that no matter what happens I am still going to be sent to fallgrim

Stepping into the area I was quickly attacked by black dude. If not for my timely dodge I would have been hit. Standing up I swing my sword and hit him but sadly it was a blow for blow and I took some major damage but I didn't pay attention to that no all my attention was on my opponent who was a swinging his sword again so, with a plan in mind I thrusting my sword upwards while also hardening my body effectively blocking and counter attacking at the same time and this continued until a bell wrung and the black figure disappeared and a giant fish appeared and started to circle me and knowing what was happening I slowly got into position as soon as the giant fish swallowed me whole and everything went dark.
