Retribution

The scream that rang out loud and clear felt vaguely familiar.

Aru immediately scanned the area for any other presence. It didn't resemble the cry of an injured animal; it must be human, right?

A sense of concern gripped him.

Had he inadvertently caused harm to someone?

Yet, the frost willow's assault wasn't over.

The branches continued to shower icicles onto the boulder in succession. Thankfully, it appeared the injured individual had taken cover behind a boulder.

Regardless, painful cries were coming from behind the boulder occasionally. 

'I should investigate and help.'

The injured person fell somewhat under his responsibility. After all, he was the reason for their plight. 

Aru crept away from the boulder slowly, towards the outer perimeter.
