Chapter 90 Mjolnir, and Thor
...
Initially, Leon had no plans beyond enjoying expensive wine in a hot tub. He had assisted Fury for Captain America's sake, not because he had become a supporter of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Why aren't some people a little more self-conscious and self-aware?
But when Phil Coulson had only mentioned a hammer, which had intrigued Leon.
"I'm here to see Mjolnir this time."
He was making an excuse for himself; he wasn't helping S.H.I.E.L.D., he just wanted to see the hammer. To be honest, Leon was still very interested in Mjolnir. His main desire was to test if he was worthy to lift it.
He intended to test his worthiness with Mjolnir, so he bid farewell to Steve and left.
...
As he walked out the door, Leon opened a portal, and upon reappearing, he found himself in New Mexico. The place was quite desolate, surrounded by Gobi or yellow sand, and the population was sparse.
In one of the Gobi deserts stood a temporary S.H.I.E.L.D. facility.
Phil Coulson was among them, guarding something unusual: a hammer standing on the ground. Oddly, no one had been able to lift this hammer since its discovery.
Leon arrived and entered directly from the outside, and no one could match his speed. He only stopped when he appeared behind Phil Coulson.
"Whoosh."
A gust of wind blew, and Leon raised his hand to catch an arrow.
He then turned to look away, and in the shadows, Barton slowly lowered his longbow. It turned out Hawkeye Barton was there, assisting and protecting Phil Coulson.
Leon glanced at Barton, who spread his hands, indicating he hadn't known it was Leon behind Phil Coulson; otherwise, he wouldn't have attacked immediately.
Phil Coulson also noticed Leon, glanced at the arrow in his hand, and said into the walkie-talkie: "Barton, it's Leon."
"I already know," Barton confirmed, stepping back into the shadows.
Leon let go of the arrow in his hand, choosing not to pursue the matter, and approached Phil Coulson.
The two of them stood atop a three-story building, overlooking the hammer standing below.
Leon reached out and pressed the guardrail in front of him and jumped down. Phil Coulson didn't have time to stop him, he could only sigh.
Leon fell to the ground, because it just rained all night here, and it didn't clear until not long ago, and the ground under his feet was full of mud. But it's not a problem for Leon , because he floats just above on the ground. Coming near to the hammer, Leon raised his hand and held the handle.
Leon reached out and grabbed the handle of the hammer. He recognized it as Mjolnir, as it was infused with the power of Odin, making it accessible only to the worthy.
Although the hammer appeared small, it was incredibly heavy if one couldn't lift it. This also explained how Captain America had been able to lift it in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
These two consequences emerged from the situation—either you couldn't lift the hammer at all, or you could. There was no in-between. Thor already knew that Captain America could lift it, so he simply said, "It's true."
At that moment, Leon stood there, reaching for the hammer's handle. He took a deep breath and raised his hand sharply. In an instant, the previously clear night sky lit up with lightning and thunder.
Leon raised his right hand high, and Mjolnir was easily lifted by him. Simultaneously, a voice echoed in Leon's ear, an aged voice saying, "Anyone who can lift this hammer will gain the power of Thor."
Leon didn't wait for the thunder and lightning in the sky to strike. He promptly set the hammer down.
After all, did he really need the power of Thor? No, he had just used Mjolnir to test his eligibility. It appeared he could lift Mjolnir, which meant he possessed the qualifications.
Importantly, Leon hadn't relied on cosmic forces, Infinity Stones, or the Heart of the Universe. He had lifted it with ease, proving that his worthiness was genuine.
In retrospect, Leon smiled. He was undeniably qualified. He had sacrificed his life to protect all of Krypton and its people. Even after being resurrected and transformed into an ugly monster like Doomsday by his people, he continued to safeguard his kind.
After coming on to the Earth, Leon never considered himself superior to others. He lived like an ordinary person, taking on odd jobs to make money, not a more direct approach like stealing. He dealt with Obadiah through subterfuge. If such a character isn't praiseworthy, then very few people could lift Mjolnir, right?
"Okay, one of my wishes has come true," Leon felt a sense of pride as he reflected on this.
If someone else had gained his power, they might have thought themselves gods, doing whatever pleased them, even crushing people if they felt like it.
[Remember that time you drank your smoothie and accidentally stepped on a few ants?]
But Leon was different. Apart from enemies, he never regarded himself as superior to anyone.
This unique character made him worthy of the favor of two great gods, OAA and The Presence.
Without another glance at Mjolnir, Leon turned around, floated lightly into the air, and returned to Phil Coulson.
Everyone present was associated with S.H.I.E.L.D. As long as they held a certain position, they would know who Leon was, so he didn't bother to conceal his identity.
Before Leon could say anything, Phil Coulson spoke first: "Okay, now that you've seen the hammer, I want you to meet someone."
"Huh?" Leon squinted at Phil Coulson. He seemed to have picked up some tricks.
Phil Coulson maintained his expression and led the way for Leon. Leon sighed and thought, "Well, since I'm here, I might as well see what's going on."
He had a strong hunch that the person he was about to meet was none other than Thor. After all, with Mjolnir in the room, who else could it be? Sure enough, inside a room in the building, Thor sat there, utterly disheveled and covered in mud. Even his once-proud hair was tangled into a mess, and his face showed despair.
Leon looked at the people inside and asked Phil Coulson, "So, what's the story here?"
Phil Coulson pondered for a moment and inquired, "Is he the mythical Thor or just an alien?"
Leon glanced at Thor and replied, "He's both the Thor of mythology and an alien. Is there any conflict?"
