COURTNEY'S POV

I flinched and took a haggard breath in. I felt the hairs on my body stand as goosebumps formed. He'd figured it out. He was going to kill me, wasn't he? I asked myself. I should have found a better hiding spot rather than staying by the tent.

"Looks like you have been busy. I'm just amazed how I could have missed that. I underestimated you far too much," He went on. We faced the dukes and the prince who were approaching us, ready to attack Viktor again.

"Step any closer and I'll kill her," he threatened them as he brought the sword even closer to my neck. All four of them stopped and hesitated as they feared I would be harmed.

"Just as I suspected, you care for what happens to her," he said. "Now when did you turn against me in time for them to feel this way for you?" he asked me in a whisper. "Your whole life all you ever wanted was mine and father's approval when did that change?"
