Chapter 18 Home life

William made his way back home as the sun slowly moved down in the sky getting back as the world switched from day till night as he made his way inside and sat on his bed he heard a knocking in the house and decided to go investigate he slowly walked down the hall putting his foot down slowly making it as light as he could as he reached the end of the hallway he closed in on the room that the noise was coming from he rounded the corner and saw his little sister sitting on the couch with her headphones on and her leg bouncing up and down on the ground.

William stood and laughed to himself as he had forgotten that his little sister was home from school already, taking the headphones off her head "how long have you been home" William asked

"Long enough to know you weren't"

William looked at her not believing his cute little sister had grown up so much. he sat down next to her looking at her from time to time and eventually denied not being home the whole day.

"sure so you must have been invisible when I looked for you that makes sense" she never stopped smiling as she played on her phone not even looking at William.

"I was home you must have just not looked well enough"

As William got no reply he closed his eyes and went throw his memories of where the organisation was and how he would get there when he heard a faint sobbing and opened his eyes, looking over he saw his little sister crying.

"I just didn't... know where... you went.. again" she cried bearly saying it out loud she was fighting back tears as she spoke to her big brother that had disappeared on her and had left her alone in a house with their parents and again when she had gotten home she was alone once more.

William realised that she had just been scared that he would not come back this time and how that would mean she would be left alone with her mum and dad who would only fight and fight until they could not speak anymore.

He felt sorry as he would not want that for anyone even more so for his little sister whom he loved and wanted to care for and protect against the world he had forgotten how hard he had argued and fought against his parents to keep her out of the fighting and the arguments as no matter the side it was terrible to be one would yell and scream while being physically intimidating and the other would attach your weakest points making you want to do anything to get there approval and attention manipulating everyone around them into doing what they wanted and making you feel like a terrible person for not doing it for them, either side sucked to be on but taking his mothers side was the worst as she made you think you where on the right side of the argument defending someone who did nothing wrong but In fact, she had started the argument and started the yelling and would not let anyone go and cool down from the argument and would continue to knit pick and attach you with words or guilt-trip you making you feel bad whenever it did not go her way.

William remembered how he had always taken the side that let his sister be out of the argument it was normally his mother's side Alice otherwise, she would drag Susan into the argument to have someone to validate her position no matter how silly or outrageous it was.

Danial as mean as he could be or uncaring would never drag anyone into the argument even when he was losing but William always feared what would happen if he did as sometimes he would take Danial's side and it was not any better you may win or get out of the argument but the verbal attacks and mental damage was not worth it.

Willaim in all the new powers and abilities as well as a new life in his head changing who he was he had thought it was for the better to make him a new and better man but it had also made him forget how bad his home life had been and about the people he loved how it hurt them when he went cold and ignored them and vanished for a week. 'how much had that hurt Susan who would have been in the middle of the most intense and nasty arguments that could have been happening without him around and how Susan would have suffered during that'.

William held his head down onto Susan's head as he hugged her slowly his eyes stung and he held her tighter as a single tear rolled down his cheek making it wet as he looked outside through the window at the darkened gloomy sky seeing his sister crying in the corner in the moonlight.

How could he set off to the academy up past Melbourne without leaving his sister behind alone again without him, he knew he was fast but he wasn't fast enough to cover over 50 km in less than 3 hours on foot, he did not have a car and he could only go up and back each weekend even if he had a car until he enrolled into what the merc called the academy it was not really an academy for learning it was a place where they drilled training into them until they breathe the right way think the right way and move the right way in formations.

William waddled over to the couch and laid down as Susan was not letting him go after about half an hour she had fallen asleep she did not cry even once which worried William a tone as he knew she should be balling her eyes out and she would of before he was taken to Italy as she was soft and cried when anything went wrong and now she was not crying at all even when she would not let go.

William was terrified of what he had done to his little sister even unintentionally it was still his fault as she was his only little sister and was his responsibility.

Alice got home a little while after that she came in and dumped her bag on the counter and went to her room straight away without saying hello which was unusual but a welcome one, he did not know when his father would be home or if he would be home at all sometimes he would not come home as he did not want to have to deal with his wife and it must have been worse to deal with her then the happiness he could feel to see his children as a normal father should feel.

William drifted to sleep with Susan still bear-hugging him thinking of what he would have to do to get out of the hole he had found himself in.

As the sun shone through the window falling onto his face he felt the drool pooling on his cheek he had not slept that well in years with one arm under him having gone numb he noticed his sister was no longer hugging him and he jumped up off the couch he fell to the ground and slammed his head against the ground, he heard a high pitched laughter assaulting his senses as he looked around the room and saw his sister sitting on the other couch watching tv, she must have woken up before him breathing in relief he rolled his eyes at the little girl laughing at him as she had been so worried the night before and now was laughing at him but it was a little funny when he thought about what had happened.
