The System

Cough... Cough...

George was slowly regaining his consciousness. A decent amount of water along with sand could be seen exiting his body through the coughing.

*Ding! Ding! Ding!*

Bell ringing sounds could be continuously heard in his head.

*Host has now regained his senses. Due to host missing the previous explanation, the system will explain it once more.*

*Please pay attention, your life will be preserved during the process.*

'What?' George thought then he recalled what happened. 'Life will be preserved? Then I survived that?'

*Host named George Castle, number XXXX, an inhabitant of world#3533.*

*Your world has been chosen to participate in the trials. The top candidates will have a chance to compete in the Grand Tournament.*

* In order for the hosts to grow stronger they have been provided with a system. They can bring the option anytime just by thinking "System". Please try it.*

'System?' George thought, and immediately, a menu appeared in his mind.

Status

Inventory

Quests

'Huh? This is interesting.' Goerge thought. He had played his fair share of games, so he was a bit familiar with it.

*As long as host thinks of the options, they will automatically open.*

'Status' George thought.

'I guess the average number should be 10, as expected, I am above than average.' George thought, quite proudly.

*Please note that many options of the system are still locked but can be unlocked after host performs individual achievements.*

When the voice sounded again, the status page immediately vanished from George's mind.

*As long as host focuses his mind on an option, an explanation for it will appear.*

*Classes can be obtained in specific areas, the "System Towns" that have spawned in your world.*

*A quest has already been triggered for the host.*

*We will be providing the host with a weapon of his choice. Please choose one from the list.*

A list appeared in his mind with tens of different weapons, ranging from staffs to sword and shield and bows.

George was always fond of dual-wielding, so he chose the only dual wielding option available on the list, which was two swords.

*Are you sure you want to pick "Dual Swords"?*

'Yes.'

*Congratulations on picking your weapon. From now on you will have to find your weapons from boss drops, from crafting or as quest rewards.*

*You will find your weapon in your "Inventory" option*

*This is the end of the introductory explanation. From this moment host is vulnerable once again. If the host unlocks extra options, a description will be given.*

*Good luck in your trial.*

'System' George thought once again, but this time he focused on the Quests option.

*Ding! New quest received

Your world has undergone significant changes. Do your best to adapt and survive for 30 days.

Rewards are based on the power levels at the end of the period.*

'That's not helpful at all.'

George stood up and shook off the sand from his clothes. He then checked his surroundings to see if he can find anything familiar.

'This looks like the beach in Southampton, but why are the grass and the trees so tall? Does this have to do with the significant changes that the system informed me earlier?

Ok, first things first, let's check in detail what this system is all about.'

'Status' George thought once again.

Name : George Castle

Level : 1

Exp : 0/100

Class : None

Title : Heir **

Health: 100/100

Mana: 100/100

Str : 12

Agi : 11

Con : 10

Int : 12

Wis : 10

Cha: 12 (+2)

Skills : Night Walker (Passive), Weapons Master (Advanced)

He then focused on all the attributes one at a time to get a better understanding of them.

*Health represents the damage the host can receive before dying. Health regeneration is always 10% per hour. Can only be increased with unique items.*

*Mana represents the energy on the user's body. Using skills and spells require the usage of Mana. Mana regeneration is always 10% per hour. Can only be increased with unique items.*

*Str is the strength of the body; it represents the power of the host. Higher-strength will make the host able to lift heavier objects and do more damage with all of his physical attacks."

*Agi is the agility of the body; it represents the reaction and flexibility of the host. Higher agility will make the host be able to react faster and be more agile in his moves.*

*Con is the constitution of the body; it represents the toughness of the skin and the regeneration ability of the host. A higher constitution can make the skin as tough as steel, regeneration of limbs will be possible while also increasing Health.*

*Int is the intelligence of the host. Higher intelligence will make the user able to think faster and able to resist mental skills and spells.*

*Wis is the wisdom of the host. Higher wisdom will make the user able to understand higher difficulty skills and spells faster while also increasing Mana.*

*Cha is the host's charisma. It improves the impression others will have when they first met the host. It also enhances the chance that others will willingly become your followers.*

'As expected, the attributes are about the same as most of the games. The interesting thing is about the followers mentioned in the charisma attribute, but that is not an immediate concern. Now let's check the title and the skills I have.'

* Heir: A title awarded to the heir of ancient families. Increases Charisma by 2 points.

Please note that this title will be removed if the host is no longer considered part of the family. Due to special conditions, the title will be removed in 14 days.*

'Well, this title is as good as gone since there is no way I'm going back to the family.' George thought emotionlessly then checked his skills.

*Night Walker (Passive): Improves Vision and Battle efficiency at night by 20%.*

*Weapons Master (Advanced) (Passive): Improves Mastery and damage with all kinds of weapons by 20%.*

'So, the skills I acquired growing up can be used. That is good to know.' George knew very well how crucial these two skills would be for him to survive.

'According to the introduction from the system, the world has gone through major changes. I doubt that vegetation will be the only change and since monsters appeared in the sea, it is safe to assume that monsters now exist on land as well.'

'Inventory!' George thought, and immediately a small space appeared in his mind with the dual swords in it.

*Host has opened the Inventory for the first time. Please note that currently, you can store six different items. Living beings cannot be stored, plants for consumption excluded. Expansion of the Inventory is possible with specific items or achievements. Mastery in spatial magic can also increase the Inventory space.

The host can think of any item stored in the Inventory, and it will immediately appear in his hands. There is no need for the host to open the Inventory first.*

'So the Inventory is pretty much a spatial storage. This is great; I always wanted to have one of these.

Dual Swords!' George thought, and immediately the dual swords appeared in his hands.

'These look good.'

*Duals Swords

Basic swords provided by the system to newbies during the introduction.

Rarity : Basic

Damage : 5-10*

'Oh? So the items have attributes as well. This feels more and more like a game!' George mused.

'Time to get out of here. If I remember correctly, there should be a village about 2 kilometres from here. Let's check there first. At the very least I will be able to find some water and food. After that, I should head to Helen in Southampton; she will definitely know more than me about this whole situation.'

Deciding his next move, George did not waste any more time and headed towards the village.

Apart from some spots where the vegetation was too thick, and he had to cut a path with his swords, he met no mishaps, that was up until he arrived at the village. Even though he expected the village to be busy since it was probably around noon, he wasn't expecting the sound of fighting.

The closer he got, the clearer the sounds became, and he could understand that humans were fighting against some beasts that sounded like dogs. As soon as he arrived at the first houses of the village, he realised that the sounds came from the village square and wasting no time he headed there.

As soon as the main square came into view, he froze on the spot. There were tens of some kind of dogs encircling about 15 persons, who were holding swords, spears and axes to fight against them. He realised that only ten or so of the humans were fighting while the rest were children who were crying and hugging each other.

"Friend! Please help us fight the beasts. We are the only ones left in the village!" One of the men who was fighting against the monsters saw George and wasted no time shouting at him for help.

The moment he shouted, two of the dogs turned around and saw George. As soon as they realised there was another human, they charged straight at him.

'Why the fuck did he need to shout.' George thought while lifting his swords, readying himself for battle.
