Chapter 36: Putting Jeffrey in his place

Author's POV

"We are heading towards brick hills. It is not far from here. Daffodil, Jake, and I assumed that it should be the best place we could stay for now. As for these initials, we all have to wear something that will cover them." Madison informed. One looked seemingly lost for a moment thinking why the name of the place sounded so familiar.

"It has been a few days now. Hopefully, we will arrive soon." Madison asserted taking her leave. Normally, all of them will do other things to kill time. They no longer had classes since they were not on the island as John anticipated. Instead, they try to learn new things from each other and help around the ship.

Jeffrey on the other hand, couldn't shake the feeling that Lucian had been getting closer to them. His way of approach was strange indeed. One time he would sit with them and eat peacefully, another time he would insult Jeffrey and Jin for being two idiotic fellows.

So far, He attacked Lucian who merely sidestepped him and landed on the floor. His nonchalance according to the blonde has peaked.

He recalled the discussion he had with him last night about his beast powers and all. He also recollected the fact that he told a person known as Madl to shut up while sleeping. He shook it off maybe it was something else or he heard things.

Stuart wanted to stay with the sailor since he knew him and was a father figure to him. Besides there was no more room.

"Morning already?"Elvis yawned, rubbing his eyes while he peered at the room. Jin and Logan were still asleep as usual.

"You are up early!" Elvis stared eyes wide at his blonde friend who was already brushing his teeth.

"No... Green jerk over here swatted me at five in the morning. "Jeffrey spat angrily facing Lucian. Lucian didn't even react for a moment not surprising to the blonde.

"You were snoring too loud. The best way to shut you up was to do that..." Lucian nonchalantly stated in a deep voice surprising the two boys.

"You also snored... Damn it! I hate sleeping next to you." Jeffrey fumed.

"I said you were too loud, idiot."

"What did you just say?"Elvis nervously chuckled at the sight. His friend kept on fuming for fifteen minutes, unexpectedly, Jeffrey got hit in the face by a pillow.

"You are too loud." Logan chimed in. "It's 6 in the morning, you trying to make my ears bleed?" He said half asleep.

"Tell me about it."Lucian rolled his eyes. 'Finally, someone points it out' he thought.

"Why your voice is even deeper? First of green jerk over here now you agree with him" Jeffrey yelled. Logan shrugged tired of this drama hoping he could shut up for him to sleep. Lucian didn't sleep back since he woke up early, even more than Elvis but was bothered by Jeffrey.

"Good morning b..." Anastasia greeted cheerfully only to be stopped short. Ash tried her best not to crack up seeing Jeffrey with a black eye. She couldn't hold it anymore and burst into a fit of laughter. Jin also joined her in laughter while Anastasia, Mark, and Elvis gave him pitiful looks.

'The audacity... Well, what could I have expected from these two.' Jeffrey thought and frowned. He looked at Dahila who neared him. She examined his left eye carefully.

"How did you get this?" She inquired.

"I rather not say."He replied flustered at the embarrassing thought.

"Oh, he was punched," Jin confessed earning a glare from Jeffery. They turned to Lucian who didn't change in manner.

"Why did you punch him?"Anastasia asked.

"No one ever said it was me. I didn't do it." Lucian said glancing at his competitor.

"Alright! It was me. He won't quit shouting. Someone needed to set him straight. I mean he wrecked my sleep." Logan said causing Ash to snicker again to Jeffrey's dissatisfaction.

'Is this why the teachers are afraid of waking him up?' Everyone except Dahila, Jin, and Lucian thought.

"... Is breakfast ready? I'm famished. "Logan walked away from the group into where they were serving breakfast. The rest stared at his figure before following.

Nothing much happened after that day other than Lucian who will constantly wake up and read a book. Jeffrey would always peep trying to get a glimpse of what he read but Lucian always caught him in the act. It continued to the extent that Lucian had to knock him out for bothering him.

"I can't control it, Madl. Every time I try nothing happens," Lucian said with a frustrated tone to this inner beast tamer. Right now, Lucian was in his subconscious interacting with him.

"Your beast powers were supposed to manifest a year ago. Due to that seal placed on you, it delayed such a thing from occurring. With time, I'll manifest," Lucian grunted angrily. He needed to learn how to obtain and use his powers to save his sister.

"Ahem! I will be going now." Madl said finally leaving Lucian back to sleep peacefully. However, that didn't come across Lucian.

*Meanwhile*

"Albert!" Daffodil screamed panting heavily. She stopped short as she took notice of her surroundings till her eyes landed on Jake.

"Had a bad dream?" Jake asked handing her a cup of water.

"Yeah, I died. How many days?" She stared at the cup of water before chugging the fresh liquid down her dry throat.

"For a few days. I also have bad news." Daffodil faced him with a confused expression. What else could be bad at this time since they left without John's permission?

"Albert is most likely still alive. I checked for his corpse later that day to find him gone. " Daffodil heaved a sigh of frustration. He wouldn't just die now, would he? What should she expect of a rank A hunter?

"I assume that he went to look for your brother. "

"Then I better go after him. I don't know how but I'll find my answers." Daffodil asserted in a determined voice.

"Well, good luck," Jake said leaving Daffodil. Daffodil frowned.

"He is just going to go ahead with his plan."...

"It has been days since I last saw those children..." John mumbled drinking from his tea while looking outside the window. "No matter... I will still find them... Albert shall have his turn first."
