Skye just wanted to go back to her cottage and hide under the covers until the day was over. Skye has been putting on a facade for years, she always acted like she didn't care about anything or what anyone thought. The truth was she actually just wanted to be liked. Everyone does, everyone wants to know that they are special to someone. She didn't care if it was someone she just wanted anyone. Skye tried so hard not to care, pretending that what people said and did to her didn't matter. In the end, they always mattered.
"Why does everyone hate me? What have I done to deserve this?" Skye accidentally said aloud.
Luckily she was far enough away that no one heard her comment or so she thought. Suddenly Skye heard a thud. It was the sound of an arrow hitting its target only this time Skye happened to be the target.
"Some get help!"
"Quickly the General has been hit"
"Oh, my gods what happened?"
Skye heard many voices calling out but she didn't really pay attention, all she knew was her shoulder was in a lot of pain. Next thing she knew she had collapsed on the training field. She looked down at her shoulder, to her surprise there really was an arrow sticking out of it.
"Don't worry General, Isaac is on his way, he will be here shortly just hang in there." One of her experienced student's name Edmond said with a scared look written all over his face.
"Oh this, this is nothing," Skye said confidently even though on the inside she was still nervous.
Skye knew that the arrows they used for training weren't laced with poison, she also knew that the tip of the arrow wasn't as strong as the battle arrows. That was why the arrow hadn't penetrated all the way through.
"Edmond grab me a scrap of leather" Skye ordered the elf through clenched teeth.
"Yes, General" the elf disappeared
"Where is Isaac?" one of the students yelled
"Does anyone know who shot the arrow?" another asked
At that moment everyone looked around trying to find the perpetrator. All eyes suddenly feel on the Corporal. She was standing quietly saying nothing, still holding the bow.
"Someone grab her"
Every available elf surrounded the corporal. She was cuffed and dragged toward the General.
"General, your orders of execution." said one of her Captains.
"Captain take the corporal to a holding cell until I decide," Skye said while gritting through the pain.
"Yes, Ma'am" The Capitan saluted and then dragged the prisoner away.
Suddenly Edmond appeared before Skye with a scrap of leather.
"Thank you"
Skye grabbed the scrap and placed it in her mouth and bit down. She knew if she waited too much longer to remove the arrow that it could cause nerve damage. Even with healing magic, it took months to fix nerve damage and she would not let this take away her ability to shot.
"Ma'am, please wait for Isaac don't do this" Edmond pleaded
In the next instant, Skye took the arrow and shoved it the rest of the way through her shoulder until it reached a point she couldn't shove anymore.
"Edmond do it" Skye ordered
He took the side of the arrow that had already passed through her and he pulled. Edmond was surprised, the woman in front of him didn't make a sound.
"Is it out?"
"Yes Ma'am"
"Good"
Skye suddenly collapsed, Edmond quickly caught her. He looked at her face with shock and admiration. He sat there holding the woman who looked so at peace. He gently moved a strand of hair from her face.
"I'm here, where is Skye? What happened?" Isaac said panting after running the 4 miles between the training field and the auxiliary field that he was training on.
Isaac looked down at the woman resting in Edmond's lap and the arrow beside them.
"Oh gods, please tell me she didn't pull it out," Issac said with great concern.
"No, she pushed it through, by herself," Edmond said finally looking up from the girl.
"Okay, good."
Isaac knelt down and quickly started to heal her. "Why did this have to happen? Why did you send me away? I'm the one who is supposed to protect you" all these thoughts were running through his head as he looked down at Skye.
She was quite pale she had lost a lot of blood in the amount of time it took him to get there.
"Don't you dare leave me!" Isaac said holding back his tears.
Even though he knew it wasn't a major injury he was still scared. He was especially scared that he would never shot again.
"Never" Skye mumbled
