67 Destination? Guild of Magic

Luke finally realised it. The system had been messing with his memories! A cold sensation went through his head as he recalled the memories of the system slipping up, and then erasing his memories.

Shivers went up his spine as he realised that he was fully under the control of the system, which was clearly conscient, and was messing with his mind.

However, something seemed strange.

'For some reason, from the beginning, even before I knew about my system being different, I have been strangely resistant towards the system, continuously trying to oppose it.'

Luke remembered the past few years he had spent in Ultimatum and thought about all the times he did which would normally be considered 'insane' and 'completely illogical' in order to spite the system.

Suddenly, Luke thought of something even more horrific.

Something else was interfering with his mind, and making him oppose the system.

And there could only be one thing like that that Luke knew of, and seemed powerful enough to do something like this.

'The fog…'

This time, the entity made up of rational numbers, and coding scoffed.

"He knows"

"He doesn't! He is only speculating!"

"He knows" repeated the system confidently.

"Tch. It doesn't matter. He had already surrendered to my when he made the contract with me."

"He did not make the contract. You forced him to."

"Kekeke. It was his fault for randomly appearing here out of nowhere. His Luck was bad."

Luke spent some time to Sort through his emotions, and finally calmed down.

'It doesn't matter what the fog's, or the system's goals are. They are currently working to help me, and I can't stop them for now. Let's just focus on living long enough to get the players to figure out my real status.'

Thinking this far, Luke stood up after having been seated in his spot for nearly 2 hours. Lucy, who was busy training her assassin arts after her fighting spirit had been reinvigorated after the embarrassing journey so far, looked over at the calmed yet pale Luke and said,

"You should take care of your health more."

"Don't need to console me. I'm fine. Just an existential crisis, not that you will understand."

"Tch. You always get like this after you calm down from some nonsense that happens to you." She murmured as she got back onto the Lukemobile.

This time round, Luke decided to work on his new training method instead of wasting time, and to stood on the back of the mobile, and used wind pressure to keep his feet firmly on the ground and to prevent his body from swaying and causing the two-wheeler to go off-balance.

Next, he picked up everything behind him and instructed Lucy to set off. Their destination? The nearest Guild of Magic base large enough to hold hundreds of gold in liquid coins. [1]

[1] Sorry. I was studying Business while doing this chapter so I just used a word, and it fits, so I won't change it. Liquid basically means coins which can be in the form of physical coins, or can be turned into physical coins from assets within a short amount of time. If I'm wrong with this definition, then god help me with the exams that are coming up in Jan.
