The man looked at Rainn with deep scrutinizing eyes. It was as if those eyes pierced into his soul and wanted to skin his entire body.
Rainn, who felt uncomfortable, stared back intently. To the man, Rainn's gazes looked like resistance.
But he understood. The man realized that he was looking at him too intensely.
"I'm sorry," said the man. "I feel too excited when I see a new person who can use magic. Hahahaha!"
The man laughed. But Rainn just sighed at his behavior. Beside him, Vyra also laughed. Rainn feels like he can't stand this extraordinary family anymore.
"Sorry sorry." The man stopped laughing. Maybe because he saw Rainn who had been waiting impatiently. "Let me introduce myself. My name is Zarone. You must know that I am Vyra's father."
"My name is Rainn." Rainn introduced himself briefly.
"Hmm," Zarone glanced at Vyra with a meaningful look. Meanwhile, Vyra only grimaced and showed facial expressions that indicated to her father he have to understand that behavior.
"You can use magic," said Zarone. "What kind of magic can you do?"
Rainn did not immediately answer because he was also confused about the answer. What kind of magic can he actually do? Rainn didn't know because he only got it from Systema. Tut didn't give any clues either.
After Rainn thought, Tut wasn't helping him much.
"It's okay if you don't know. After all, you don't have a mentor to teach you, do you?" Zarone said.
Rainn breathed a silent sigh of relief. He was grateful that he didn't have to think much to find a reasonable excuse.
"You know, when Vyra first realized that she had magical talent, she destroyed half of our house. Hahaha!"
In Rainn's mind, Zarone is a talkative guy.
"Father!" said Vyra. "Just start the practice right away."
"A-Ah, right. I guess I laughed too much." Zarone said. "Let's get started. First, you should know what your magic ability is. Follow me."
Rainn followed Zarone to the west corner of the practice room. Rainn saw that there was a clear crystal ball about one meter in diameter, then under the crystal ball was a pentagon-shaped stone.
As Rainn approached, he realized the stone had a jet black surface. It was almost the same as the surface of the wall of the secret cave chamber he used to enter.
"Put your hand up here," Zarone said, pointing at the black pentagon stone. Rainn immediately complied. He placed his palm on the surface of the stone and realized that there was something on the rock. Rainn felt a kind of soft wave tickle his skin.
"You noticed it?" Zarone asked with a meaningful smile.
"Hmm." Rain nodded. "There is a gentle wave on this stone."
"Wow! You turned out to be pretty good!" Zarone patted Rainn's shoulder hard. Making Rainn's body gets pushed forward.
"The black pentagon-shaped stone and the clear crystal ball are paired. It is used to detect a person's magic attributes." Zarone said.
It wasn't long before the crystal ball started to glow. At first, the crystal glowed red and revealed the shape of a fire blazing within.
"Oh, fire! Good, good! Well the-"
Before Zarone could finish his sentence, the appearance inside the crystal ball changed. This time the flames were side by side with flashes of lightning.
Zarone's eyes widened. Then the appearance inside the crystal ball changed again. This time white sparks appeared and started to fill the entire contents of the crystal ball.
"Whoa, what happened?" Rainn asked, confused.
Zarone who seemed to wake up from his shock told Rainn to withdraw his hand.
"That's enough. Now you can get your hands off of there."
Rainn complied. When he looked back at Zarone, he saw the man's face change. There was no longer the laughter and joking face he had earlier. Now his face turned serious. Very serious.
"What happened?" Rain asked.
"Hm? What do you mean?" Zarone asked back.
Rainn chose to ignore it, "Never mind."
"All right. Now it's practice time."
The two of them returned to where Vyra was waiting.
"So, what kind of magic does he have?" Vyra asked her father with an enthusiastic look on her face.
"He has the attributes of fire and lightning," replied Zarone. "One of them suits you very well with the wind attribute."
"Wow! You have two elemental attributes?" Vyra asked while looking at Rainn with a surprised face.
Rainn thought, 'Maybe it's because I have Pyrokinesis and Lightning Bolt skills.'
"Well, I guess so," Rainn replied.
Then Zarone told Vyra and Rainn to line up. Zarone took a small remote control from his trouser pocket and pressed a button. After that from under the floor of the practice room in front of them appeared a black tube one meter high.
"For starters, it's simple. Vyra has done this before. Just hit the target with your fire magic," Zarone said to Rainn.
Rainn nodded curtly in response.
'This test is too easy. I've killed with this power before.' thought Rain. But, he won't say much.
"You're ready. Just concentrate your mind to create fire in your hand. Like this," Vyra raised one hand and a small wind vortex appeared above her palm. "For a definite start, this is a difficult thing. But believe me, you will get used to it. It just takes a lot of practice."
Rainn tried hard to hold back a smile.
"Okay," said Rainn. Maybe a little bit of show-off won't hurt him.
[ Skill activated: Pyrokinesis (Lv.3) ]
In Rainn's hand instantly a flame was created. Then Rainn immediately threw it at the training target.
"BOOM!"
A huge explosion was heard. Zarone and Vyra widened their eyes.
"That's so powerful! Have you ever practiced it before?!" Vyra asked in a surprised tone.
"Actually I've practiced a few times," Rainn replied.
They both continued to practice. On the other hand, Zarone looked at Rainn. His eyes were calculating as if he was looking at someone dangerous and full of mystery.
Unexpectedly, this boy turned out to bring many surprises. He has two elemental attributes magic. But not only that, Zarone saw that many other sparks appeared. That means he still has other undetected magic attributes.
In his entire life, Zarone had only ever come across five people who possessed more than one elemental magic attribute that could overcome their power. The five of them are the leaders of the five strongest supernatural hunter guilds in Al'Modred city.
Rainn didn't seem to have any trouble using his fire magic. When he should have gone mad from that power. There's a reason why magic is a lost and forbidden power. It was because it was a dangerous power.
Vyra was lucky because she was born into the Brynelle family which is a family of trained supernatural hunters. There have been many magic users in this family from generation to generation. So Vyra can be directly trained properly.
However, this boy of unclear origin displayed greater potential than he had ever seen in a child of his age. No, even the potential can be much greater than most adults.
Rainn, who noticed that Zarone had been watching him for a long time, suddenly turned his head. And seeing Zarone's reaction, he actually felt surprised.
Rainn wonders what Zarone thinks of him. Did the test reveal anything else that Rainn didn't know?
"You're pretty good at magic. Did you train yourself?" Asked Zarone.
"Yes. I practiced alone," Rainn replied.
Zarone nodded. "Would you like to spar with me?"
Rain frowned.
"Father, why are you challenging him? You're an adult," Vyra said.
"Vyra, this friend of yours is no ordinary young man. I just wanted to test him for a bit. There's no need to worry." Zarone replied.
"Okay. I'm ready," Rainn replied.
Zarone smiled "Good."
