Fin the Blacksmith

The man frowned, "Elemental Gem?"

"Yes," Rainn said.

The man looked Rainn up and down then back again.

"You don't look like someone who needs Elemental Gems," assumed the man.

Rainn didn't understand what he meant.

"What do people who need Elemental Gems look like?" Rain asked.

"Well," the man exited through the small door next to the table. "They are usually supernatural hunters."

"Oh, guess what? I'm a supernatural hunter."

"You?" The man looked at Rainn in disbelief. Then he laughed.

Rainn exhaled. Then speak, "You have it or not?"

The man stops his laugh. "Yes, of course, we have. You've come to the right place. Follow me."

Rainn followed the man through the gray curtains and walked through the narrow corridor. The sound of loud objects and swearing grew louder and louder.

Then they entered through the metal door. At that moment Rainn could feel the heat on his face. He saw many people doing their jobs.

Sparks from the hot metal being hit spread out along with the heat. The people who work here wear plastic goggles and leather aprons.

Their arm muscles also look bigger because they are often used to swing hammers.

"Just so you know, I'm not very familiar with things like Elemental Gems," the man said in a loud voice to overcome the noise in here. "I'll take you to someone who understands."

Rainn just nodded in response. They walked again past the many workers until they came to the back of the building which was an unroofed courtyard.

A woman was wearing a black bandana on her head. She was smoking a cigarette with a cup of coffee on the table. The woman turned to them. Rainn could see from her face that she wasn't too far from his age.

"This is Fin," the man spoke while looking at Rainn. "If you want to talk about Elemental Gems, she's the right person."

The woman named Fin turned her head, "Why did you bring a boy here, Cig?"

Cig shrugged his shoulders, "He's a supernatural hunter looking for Elemental Gems. At least that's what he says."

Fin looked at Rainn uncertainly, "You're looking for an Elemental Gem?"

Rain nodded.

"What for?"

"To buy it."

The woman was silent and just stared at Rainn. Meanwhile, Cig just sighed and then walked away without a word.

"So you're a supernatural hunter?" Fin asked.

"Yeah. Why doesn't everyone here seem to not believe it?" Rainn was getting irritated.

"Because you're just a kid," Fin replied. Rainn looked at her disapprovingly. How dare she look down on him like that.

"You're not much older than me," Rainn said. "And you think I chose this profession myself? If my parents didn't die when I was little, I wouldn't want to be a monster-hunting idiot!"

Fin blinked a few times in surprise at the way Rainn answered him.

"Uhh, sorry." Fin felt guilty.

Rainn exhaled, "Whatever. Just show me the Elemental Gem."

Fin felt that this situation had become awkward. But she decided to move on because it could make them forget what happened earlier.

"Uhh, yeah, Follow me."

Rainn followed Fin back into the room. Then they headed for a door next to the combustion engine. When the door is closed the sound from outside is completely gone.

Fin walked behind her desk and motioned for Rainn to sit down.

"Where's that thing?" asked the impatient Rainn.

"Just a minute," Fin told him. "First, what do you need Elemental Gems for? Depending on the use I can give you different Gems."

Rainn didn't know that there were many kinds of Gems.

"Something that can fit into a weapon."

When she heard Rainn's answer, Fin widened her eyes. "Where did you get that weapon from?"

"I have it anyway. You don't need to know where," Rainn answered quickly.

"Alright alright," Fin sighed and gave up on finding out.

"Where's the weapon? You'll have to wait two days to a week before the Gem is attached to the weapon.

"One to two weeks?!"

"Yeah," Fin nodded. "You look surprised. Have you never had business with a blacksmith before?"

Rainn didn't think it would take that long for the bow to be finished. He would probably need the bow ready when fighting the murderous Vampire. And only two days left for his Main Quest.

"Just a minute. I need some time to think," Rainn said.

"Suit yourself." Fin was waiting with her arms folded in front of her chest.

Suddenly Fin's phone rang. Seeing Rainn who was still busy thinking on his own, Fin picked it up.

Rainn called out to Tut in his mind.

'Yes?' Tut answered immediately.

'Can't I install the Elemental Gem myself?' asked Rain.

'Not possible. At least with your current level. There is a skill that can make you get blacksmithing skills. But that skill is not available at your current level.'

'At what level is the skill available?'

'Seventeen.'

Rainn let out a sigh of clear frustration from his mouth. At the same time Fin has finished the phone call.

Rainn's sigh took Fin by surprise but she didn't say anything.

"I'll bring it soon. How much do I have to pay?"

"You don't have to pay. Think of it as a bonus for new customers," said Fin.

Rainn wasn't sure about that answer. But he would not refuse any fortune he received.

"Okay. I'll wait a moment." Rainn stood up from the chair and then exited Adam's Blacksmith building.

When he was some distance away, Rainn retrieved the Shortbow from the Inventory with instructions from Tut. The shortbow appeared in his hand as soon as Rainn will it.

He returned to Adam's Blacksmith and reentered Fin's room. He placed a bow on Fin's desk.

"You're fast," said Fin, somewhat surprised.

"I put it not far from here," Rainn answered casually.

Fin studied the bow. This bow is one meter long was made of fine wood. The color is plain brown wood and very smooth as if made by an expert. The bowstring also looks strong.

Overall this bow has very good quality. The fact that this bow also has a slot for placing Elemental Gems makes it even more valuable.

"Do it as fast as you can," Rainn said.

"I'll try. Leave your number. I'll call when this bow is ready."

Rainn wrote his number on a book that was on the table.

"Then I'll take my leave for now," said Rainn. Rainn left the room. Leaving Fin still holding the bow.

Fin looked at the bow in her hand with thoughtful eyes. Seen from anywhere this bow has a very good quality. To create wood that could absorb the power of Elemental Gems was the job of a master.

In all her life Fin had only seen someone capable of that. That is his father.

The one who called him just now was Mr. Zarone Brynelle. A hunter who has become a regular in this place. When he said that he would be the one to pay the fees for a hunter named Rainn, Fin was a bit surprised. Why would Mr. Brynelle pay for the boy?

But Fin shrugged his shoulders. There's no point in continuing to question it. He'd better get to work because if that kid also had a connection with Mr. Brynelle, then she had to serve him well.
