Chapter 7: Small Green Creature

Gael and the others are now in front of a beautiful and spacious garden inside the Palace, while the Crown Prince and Marcus are in front of them Behind the Prince and Marcus there is a big cloth covering something rectangular, they can hear various sounds and noise coming from the thing covered behind the Prince and Marcus.

Gael and the others are not fools, from the moment they saw the thing being covered they already know, that behind the cover are monsters.

They stared at it with great anticipation they started to gulp and swallow their saliva.

" It seems like you guys can't wait anymore, oh well " the Crown Prince, looked at Marcus, he then removed the blanket and what welcomed Gael and the other's gazes is a different kind of Monsters, they are young monsters that are still in their immature phase since it is easier to tame them and training them from a young age is much more beneficial than Taming and training mature monsters since there will be no more room for growth and that their potential is already used up, so it is a waste to tame and train an adult monster.

There is at least fifteen monster cage in front of them with different young monsters, that vary in size and shape, they made loud noises when the cloth covering them was removed.

Gael and the others gazed at the monsters with great anticipation and awe.

" the monsters in front of you are provided by us, they range from D rank to B rank monsters they are obtained through great difficulty but we managed to get them at an expensive price so you must make the most of them and do your jobs well," Marcus said in a mild tone.

" you can now take your pick, but remember to pick the one most suitable for you, just because it has a higher rank doesn't mean you can take advantage of it, at the end of the day the overall strength of a Tamer is still depended on how well they can work together with their familiar, keep that in mind " after Marcus finished his words, Gael and the others approached the cages containing monsters, there are wolf type monsters, flying type monsters, serpents, there are some elementals among the monsters.

Gael started to appraise the monsters, most of them are at D rank, and there are five C rank and Three B rank monsters among them, his gaze stays the most on the B rank monsters, they are the Orc, Hellhound, and the Wind Sprite.

" this Orc is great, it can increase my strength and defense but the problem is the speed " he started to weigh the monster's pros and cons, the Orc is a great choice but his fighting style lean towards speed making the Orc's lack of speed the deal breaker.

" Hellhound, it has great speed and destructive strength plus it can produce and control flames, it would be great if I could learn that skill, but I don't think a beast type familiar suits me " Gael also didn't choose the Hellhound despite its strength.

" The Wind Sprite is great, it can attack from long range and because of its wind attributes it will greatly boost my speed, it will be a valuable familiar but I specialize in melee fighting with swords, I would prefer a monster that is also a melee fighter " the Wind Sprite also didn't fit Gael's standard, since there are only three B rank monsters, he can only move on to the C and D ranks, Gael hopes that he can find a suitable monster at C rank.

He moved towards the cages that house the C rank monsters, while the others move on to the B rank monster.

" I choose this one!" while most of them are busy inspecting every monster, a loud and excited voice filled the garden.

When they look over the source of the voice they saw a bald and muscular man standing in front of one of the cages that contains a B rank monster, it was Vice General Balmor, he is now promoted as a Vice General, it is the reward given by the Crown Prince to the former commander for his great performance defending one of the Kingdom's territory.

He chose the young Orc as his familiar, when everyone learned about his choice they are not surprised the image of such a strong and domineering monster suits the Vice General.

Gael imagined Vice General Balmor standing on the battlefield alongside his Orc, they will ravage the battlefield until the whole land is dyed red, that is the image Gael pictured in his mind.

" great choice Vice General, this young Orc suits you, I expect great things from you " the Crown Prince voiced out his compliment towards Vice General Balmor.

" thank you, your highness, I will not disappoint you " Vice General Balmor expressed his gratitude towards the Crown Prince.

" Let us wait for the others before we proceed, " said the Crown Prince.

Gael and the others continued inspecting the monsters to find the suitable one for them, while he was looking at the monsters from the D ranks, he saw a small green creature among the cages of the D rank monsters, he quickly approached the cage to see the green creature and to his surprise, it is a humanoid monster.

Gael quickly inspected the small green humanoid creature, and after having a closer look he found the identity of the green creature, it is a young Goblin.

Goblins are D-rank humanoid monsters, they are bipedal and most of their body parts resemble those of humans, they have green-colored skin, they have long ears and not-so-welcoming faces, they have sharp long teeth that they use to tear off meat from their prey, they are mischievous, greedy and naughty creatures, they have a lot of similarities with Orcs, the only difference is that the Orcs are much bigger and stronger, though Goblins and Orcs have a lot of similarities physically they belong to different species of monsters, there are also times where Orcs prey on the small Goblins.

Despite the Goblin's nasty personality, they have great speed and agility they are also one of the few monsters that can wield weapons, they are smarter than other monsters since they can build settlements and they have a concept of family.

The moment Gael landed his sight towards the small Goblin he immediately got attracted to the small green creature.

He started to inspect the Goblin and noticed that it is quiet and timid for mischievous and naughty monsters, and it greatly ignites his curiosity, after a few minutes of contemplating Gael made the decision to take the small Giblin as his familiar.

" I choose this little Goblin right here "

The others turned their heads toward his position in surprise, most humans hate Goblins because they raid and attack villages from time to time to steal food and kill people, most monster attacks are from Goblin tribes, and when they attack a village they leave quite the destruction and blood, though they have small bodies and individually weak, once they attack with great numbers they are nearly unstoppable.

" Are you sure about you're decision? Goblins are weak fighters individually " Marcus said, he reminded Gael about one of the greatest weaknesses of a Goblin.

" I am sure, I took the Goblin's weaknesses into consideration before I made my decision and out of the monsters here it is the most suitable for me " Gael explained the reason why he chose the Goblin.

" if that is your choice " Marcus smiled towards Gael.

After a few more minutes everyone finished choosing the monsters they want to be as their familiars, they are now standing in front of the cage that contains the monster they chose.

Amon Vega chose the Hellhound as his familiar, the Oswald twins Kali and Kalisto chose the Light and Dark Serpent, Melchor Malkin chose the Red Falcon, and Lily Augurn chose the Wind Sprite, and Wency Walker chose the Gale Wolf.

Both Amon and Lily chose the remaining B-rank monsters, while the rest chose C-rank monsters except for Gael who chose a D rank Goblin and the Oswald twins, the Dark Serpent and Light Serpent are both D-rank monsters but they still decided to choose them as their familiar despite their low rank.

While standing in front of the cages of their monsters the old butler Nicholas walked in front of them.

" Nicholas here is one of the Tamers under my command, he will teach you guys how to tame your monsters and make a connection with them " the Crown Prince revealed the old butler's real identity.

'so he is not just a normal butler, but he's also a Tamer, no wonder I feel like Nicholas is somewhat strange so he's a Tamer after all '

' if Nicholas is a Tamer, how about Old man Alastor?' Gael came up with a sudden realization.

" if Old man Alastor is a Tamer, his level must be high, since he feels more dangerous and mysterious than Nicholas" Gael mumbled.

The others were shocked by the sudden revelation of the Crown Prince, they always thought that the old man is just a simple butler.

Their mouths are wide open while Nicholas just stood in front of the unmoving, waiting for them to snap back to reality.
