Synopsis

After a mysterious gas was released into the planet's atmosphere, the population suddenly found themselves with mystical powers. Ranging from superhero abilities known only in comics, to incredibly specific and hardly practical. When your worth is now decided by birth, how does one live? When talent merely becomes a word to explain a fortunate ability, how do you stand out? Heroes, Villains, Vigilantes. Stories and myths of such beings became commonplace. Governments requiring powerful abilities to keep order. The Hero Association attempting to keep its influence through monetization. Villain groups abusing their powers. Vigilantes attempting to fight against such tyranny and unfairness. Corruption rampant as always. Like stated, these stories are commonplace. Mass produced even. So what about a narrower focus? A lawless city ruled by an order of Street Gangs. This isn't the story of a selfless uprising Hero, or a Villain who wreaks destruction, or even a Vigilante who wants a better world. Rather it's a story of the struggle of the strong. People who gather others underneath them, and fight against rivals. All to rise to the top and rule this city. Would you care to join? This isn't a grand story, it might not be to your taste. Can you stand beside those who struggle, without a guarantee for a satisfying end? As they fight to stand at the top, or be consumed? If so, allow me to tell you this story. (WARNING: THIS VOLUME CONTAINS VIOLENCE AND STRONG LANGUAGE. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED)

Chapter 1Prologue

"Sir, we received intel on the target's location."

"Damn time, spending way too long chasing these fuckers down."

"Should we request backup?"

"Backup? As if. I'll be handling this alone. There's not a person on this planet who can defeat me."

"You're among the top of S rank sir. . ."

S rank Heroes. A typical method of ranking strength. Letter classed individuals who act only to stop those who use their abilities to harm others. One such hero was named Irak. With an ability that had no equal in strength or durability. This ability was ranked as a top threat, and was given the name Hercules.

Strength, speed, durability, enough power to overthrow a government alone. Missiles proved ineffective, guns even more pointless. This S class hero was estimated to be invincible, invulnerable. A man with no equal.

The sound of a helicopter grew louder. Ivak stretched his rippling muscle and looked towards the one speaking at him, "It's just those fuckers right? Nothing unexpected I should be worried about?"

"We have the area surrounded and monitored. It's just them."

"Great, they've been flying under our radar for far too long."

Ivak was a tall muscular man, with bronze shiny skin covering those muscles. Long flowing brown hair rested upon his head. It only began to flutter about as the helicopter landed in front of him. Stepping onto the helicopter caused it to lean to one side. As if it was unable to handle the weight of Ivak.

A pair of headphones was handed to him. Responding with a sneer he flicked them, which caused it to shatter to pieces. Not bothering to speak he instead jerked his head to the side. A motion meant to indicate he was ready for takeoff.

The pilots looked at each other before one nodded. No words were spoken as the helicopter rose off the ground. Ivak's long hair waved about as he stared beneath him. This chase had been long since coming. Two traitors have managed to escape one too many times. Such a thing was not to be left unpunished.

The helicopter slowed to a stop over a simple building. It was located in the middle of a rogue city. One that avoided the gaze of heroes and governments. An unsuspecting place. Ivak grinned, "Gotcha, no more running."

Leaping off the helicopter he fell like a rock. Landing on the roof and smashing through it and the second floor. Landing in an office room located on the first floor he immediately found one of his targets. The target, a middle aged man with sunken eyes and dark bags under them stammered, "I-Ivak?!"

"Yo, long time no see Hammond. You traitorous bastard."

"Ivak it's not like that! You know the hero foundation isn't as honorable as they seem!"

"As if I give a fuck! What you did damn near ruined everything I built up! I trusted you, and you go stab my back?!"

"This isn't what your sister would have wanted-"

Ivak's arm moved at a blinding speed. Gripping the throat of Hammond, "You don't speak her name. If you even mention my sister one more time I'll break this pathetic twig you call a neck."

Hammond struggled to breathe, "Ivak. . . please."

"You're more villainous than anyone I've ever fought. At least those bastards had the spine to fight for whatever pathetic ass reason they did. But you went and betrayed everyone who called you friend, and then ran away!"

"They wouldn't have left us to live!"

"Neither am I. So tell me, where's your other rotten half?"

A door swung open, revealing a frail blonde woman, "Hammond? What was that-"

She froze upon seeing Ivak's massive frame, "I. . . Ivak?"

"Wondrous, you are both here. Great, since I once considered you friends I'm gonna give you the only bit of mercy you bastards deserve. You get to die in each other's arms. Isn't that romantic?"

The woman's legs failed to keep her upright, "Ivak. . . please!"

"Too late!"

Throwing Hammond towards the woman the two slammed into each other and into the hallway. The only thing cushioning them was a wooden stand put against the hall. Although it only caused more pain and filled them with splinters.

There was no way they could resist Ivak's sheer power. The damage they sustained from that one move proved fatal, and blood was pouring from their lips as they struggled to form a breath. Ivak walked through the doorway, his massive frame bigger than it. Not bothering to squeeze through he instead continued walking forward, breaking past the doorway and leaving an imprint the size of him in its remembrance.

"Here ends your story. A damn shame."

Ivak stepped on the two, crushing the remaining life out of their bodies. With a disgusted look he turned his head, greeted by the only thing that surprised him today.

A young boy, watching on in horror. Ivak spat, "So much for the intel, they said these two were the only ones here. They didn't tell me about a fucking kid!"

Shaking his head he walked towards the boy, "I'm not one who approves killing kids. Nor do I believe in the lame excuse of the 'parent's sins'. Guess you're a lucky one aren't you? I'm sure the cleanup crew will figure out what to do with you."

Crouching down to the boy he reached and grabbed the kid's shoulder, "Now, it would be best if you forgot what you saw here. Don't hold onto any ideas of revenge, because I can promise you one thing. If you try, you'll end up just like them."

Ivak stood up and walked outside. Not bothering to use a door he instead walked through a wall like it was made of paper. Loose brick scattering across the floor. He felt good, now leaving behind a mess created years ago. Perhaps today was truly his day.

A now tied up loose end wasn't the only thing he left behind however. In the dust of rubble, and the pooling blood, a young boy watched Ivak's every step. Hatred and sadness burned in his heart, while the picture of Ivak remained ingrained in his sight.

No tears fell, no cries were wept. Instead a third person's blood fell onto the ground. Caused by the young boy biting his lip to the point of bleeding.
