Who am I?

Was the question I would ask myself looking into the mirror.

What is reality?

Was the question I would ask myself walking to college.

why do I feel so empty?

Was the question I asked myself before going to sleep.

These questions haunted me for what seemed like forever...

Yet here I am looking into the mirror with shock, the hope that I had held on too blurred with my vision. I felt myself fall; the emotions I thought I had long lost blasted through me...

When I awoke everything was pitch black.

...am I dead? I thought as a soothing and floating feeling flooded me.

In this moment the timeless questions no longer mattered.

If I wanted to feel again, I had to live.

As if in response the emptiness shrunk back and an overwhelming energy filled my body, it was like I was becoming...something else, something...other worldly. I could feel my organs and veins moving about. Then a sense of freedom washed over me but just as I relaxed a vigorous aching clambered over me, burning my insides and making me gasp for air.

But just when I couldn't bear the pain any longer a soft voice transmitted, "Welcome child, you have re-entered the life cycle," as the voice spoke I felt my body shake and then shackle into place.

The voice continued undeterred, "you have a magic soul which requires you to use magic daily in order to be able to function physically and mentally. Normally your soul would of been immediately transferred to a magic world, but since the world you were born in had no magic whatsoever you were unable to cause even a slighted spark to ignite the activation of this process. Otherwise known as awakening. And so we didn't notice the irregularity. For not noticing your unfortunate suffering sooner I am truly sorry and so to make it up to you I am giving you the choice of what or where you want to go."

The transmitted words left me worried but excited about what this meant. I also regained my emotions which comforted me in this dark place.

"This opportunity is one you can choose yourself. To summarise: You have regained your emotions fully and I will give you a new body, this body will be based on how well you coped. But since your coping is different from most I'm not sure how it will manifest?," pausing with uncertainty they continued:

"One) you can go back to your original world and try to function.

Magic is nonexistent in that world so it's better to avoid this.

Two) you can reincarnate into another world.

Three) you can go to hell to train your physical body and mentality.

However, it's very harsh so I don't recommend it.

Those are your three main options, You will also get options inside of these three."

"what do you mean by awaken?", I thought, and the transmitted voice replied,

"awakening is where you sense mana or energy and is something only souls above common grade can do. You can awaken magic or superpowers and have the possibility to learn skills and spells. People have different superpowers, skills and spells depending on their element or magic attribute."

"what is an element?", I contemplated and once again the transmitted voice replied,

"elements are fire, water, wind and earth but these are only the general ones. Also magic, superpowers and skills can also have more than one element, however for this to be the case the soul would have to be over rare grade... I think that you might be a rare soul which would explain your need for mana, however it still doesn't make sense for it make you so unstable….hhhhah."

" I see...I can only move on then, thank you for the advice, I'll go with number two."

The transmitted voice: " it's only right, it is my duty as creator. Now that you have decided you can choose what the type of magic the world focuses on. There are only five different ones I can send you to:

One) is a world with martial arts and activates using skills.

Two) a world similar to your own just with a more advanced technology. Again activated with skills.

Three) a world of superpowers and a stronger physical body

Four) a world with varying degrees of creation magic. Depending on your element or elements you can create things and you have an inventory and status screen. This is activated by magic, superpower and skills; which if I am honest is very chaotic.

kind of like Minecraft, I thought.

Five) element cultivation where you use an element or elements to evolve. There's also element crafting where you can create element weapons and armour. You can learn spells to help you understand how to evolve and fight.

"I will go with five.", I immediately thought and the transmitted voice uttered,

"alright. As your body will need to get used to magic you will be reincarnated as a newborn."

"where will I be born?", I questioned and the transmitted voice grumbled,

"unfortunately I have no control over that ."

I then thought in reply, "I see, thank you for this opportunity."

Numbers then appeared in front of me as the transmitted voice recited them.
