The Rumors We Share

Nate

It's sadly back to school after the week is over, but there are MANY things going around. As I ponder through the halls each passing period there's a bunch of murmurs. Not the first time... As Xavier, Mina, and I enter the cafeteria during lunchtime, the murmurs are twice as loud. Maybe it isn't even murmuring at this point. "So childish... Keep talking everyone, it's not like it'll get you somewhere in life. Whatever it is you're taking about is most likely not true. Go get a life." I say. I make my way to Brooklyn's table. She stands up and we share a kiss. One longer than the last. As we kiss, everyone gasps and takes out their phones. Not surprising. Almost nothing is at this point. It's like we're living in a book, or a movie. I take a seat and so does Xavier and Mina. "Did you find out what it is yet?" I ask Brooklyn. "People are saying that you got Mina pregnant... Nate..." She says. "Ok that is NOT fair! When I'm on my period and I just get bloated." Mina explains. "I hear my name as well, what do I have in this?" Xavier asks. "They think that you're dealing with Nate." Brooklyn answers. I've gotten through something close to this, but now I'm the cause of TWO problems that are extremely false. There wouldn't be a day in hell where I'd sleep with a girl like Mina.

Brooklyn

This hurts... Having to look like another one of Nate Miller's hook up victims. But I know I'm not. I'm not even myself without Nate. These past few days I've been the closest I've ever been with Nate. I'd hate for that to slip away so easily. To the side, Xavier and Mina are fighting again, til Mina storms out.

We are all at Xavier and Mina's place trying to think of a plan. Mina is in her pajamas in her room, while the rest of us are at the kitchen area. Nate is sitting at the counter, Xaviers on the couch watching TV, and so Is Zayne. I don't know where the hell Alice is, but it's usual for her to skip. I'm pacing back in forth between the living room and kitchen panicking. "This is horrible. This is just— Just TERRIBLE." I stop for a second. "Ok, calm your heels down before I break your glasses. It's not the end of all of us." Xavier points out. "There's no way to fix this. No LOGICAL way at least." I say. "Well, There HAS to be." Nate says. "Well, Brookie does have a point there." Xavier says. "There is a way if you could maybe use your mind, Brooklyn. There's a reason why people call you the brains." Nate says. "Why can you just be on my side here?" I ask, walking towards Nate. "Brooklyn is right, Nate. We can't tell people it's not true cause it's not like they'll even listen." Xavier reasons, starting to switch channels. "See, why can't you stand with me like Xavier?" I ask, sitting on the seat next to Nate. "Ok, well Brooklyn. Why don't you just go date Xavier then huh?" Nate says. "Brooklyn, What has gotten into you? Let's just go and calm Mina down, ok?" Nate quickly adds. "Well why don't YOU date Mina? Always in and out of relationships, right?" My tone seems way harsh than I intended. "If that's the game you wanna play, I don't wanna be in it." Nate gets up and goes into Mina's room. "That was a scene." Zayne says, shoving his face with popcorn. "At this point I don't even know if we're together..." I confess, laying my head down on the counter. "So what if you aren't?" Zayne adds. "I like Nate. He makes me feel different in many ways when I'm with him." I say, feeling guilty of the words that had to come out of my mouth talking to Nate. I wish I could just find the source to what made me say it... Wait, a source! "Guys. I have an idea." I say, rushing over to the boys on the couch. "Well go tell Nate and Mina!" Zayne says, he seems very exited.

I walk into Mina's room and... They don't notice me come in. It looks like he's pulling away from a kiss. "God, I'm so glad you're here for me, Nate." Mina says. "I always am, you're more than a friend to me.. You're like my-"

"Oh my god Nate. In and out of relationships, like always." I say and storm out of the room. "Brooklyn, wait!" He chases after me. I go to the living room as Xavier gets up and goes in Mina's room. "I should have known better than to ever be with you." I cry.

"Brooklyn, you're overreacting." He says in a harsh tone.

"Well then why did you replace me so quickly, huh?" I ask, crossing my arms in denial.

"What? Brook, I would never replace you!" He puts both his hands on my shoulders.

"Well then why did you?? I saw you with Mina in her room..." I confess. I'm just so heartbroken right now...

"Ugh, Brooklyn, Mina and I were just talking. Before YOU interrupted, I was gonna tell her she was like a sister to me. I was only trying to help. Now trust me when I say this. It's your choice to believe me, or not." He reasons. I love him... So I make my decision.

"I do. Only because I really like you Nate. And my biggest fear is losing you." I say. He pulls me in for a hug. As we hug, he wraps his arms around my waist.

Xavier

"Care to tell me anything?" I ask. "What do you think, Xavier?" She says. Her face being solemn as she gives me a pretty cold stare. It's funny seeing her mad sometimes. It's almost cute. "Look, if you could maybe listen to Brook instead of stealing her boyfriend, we can get you out of this," I say. "Speaking by the silence, I'm pretty positive that Nate killed Brooklyn, Brooklyn dumped his ass, or they made up." I get up from sitting on the bed with her, and put a hand out. "Come on." I say. She takes my hand and I get her out of bed. We come out to Nate and Brooklyn hugging. A good sign. "So you all are cool, great. Now what's the plan big brain?" I ask Brooklyn.

"We all need to do some digging. We find the source to this all and maybe dig deep down on them by some relations with other people knowing people and so on. When we find dirt, we use it against them to forfeit." Brooklyn explains, standing in front of Nate, his arms around her waist. I'll say, I'm not against this couple.

Mina

We all go to the library and do some digging. I walk in on Nate and Brooklyn making out, great way to third wheel as soon as you get in. "Oh my god, Really? We're you two just-"

"Yes, we were, now let's just um, wait for Xavier." Brooklyn clears her throat. I hear a door open behind me and it's Xavier. We all take our seats and start. "Wait, who else would have known about Nate and Mina from vacation..?" Brooklyn asks. "There's Zayne and Alice, who never showed up." Xavier points out. "And maybe she put that all up because she always sees me with Zayne." I say. "Well, we have our culprit. But how does she know about Me and Nina in the room?" Nate asks. "I called Alice," Brooklyn confesses. Great. "I told her about you and Mina, but I never knew she'd go this far with it... I'm so sorry, to the both of you." She apologizes. "Cases solved, but what now?" Xavier asks.

"We hunt her down." Brooklyn simply says, leaning a bit more toward.
