Superintendent Brayden Jones hurried into the district police station.
As soon as he stepped through the main entrance, he bumped into a junior officer holding some documents.
"Superintendent Jones, what brings you here? The district staff meeting isn't until tomorrow, did you get the dates mixed up?"
Upon hearing this, Jones stopped in his tracks and squeezed out a smile, "No. The custody cells at my station are nearly full, so I planned to clear out the suspects and transfer them all together to the Magistrates' Court.
It just so happened that I was passing by the district station today, so I thought I'd check if you have any suspects here. If so, I might as well take them with me."
The junior officer said with a smile, "Superintendent Jones, you really are thoughtful. I won't hide it from you; we just arrested someone this morning, and he's sitting inside right now."
"Good, gather his charging documents and hand them over to me."
