Spear Art: Level up

Bruce said, as he raised the wooden cane in his hands, making Ainz stare at him with trepidation, when Bruce saw his expression he couldn't help but shake his head.

'And here I thought the kid was fearless, I guess he still has some fear in him, huh?'

He thought shortly, and then held the wooden cane a bit tighter.

"Come and attack me."

He stared at Bruce for a moment, compared to before he was more confident and was sure if he fought with everything he had not including his main techniques but just his normal attributes, he would be able to land a successful hit on him.

Especially since his spear art had leveled up and had become intermediate rank, but that would be showing too fast of a progress which might lead to suspicion, no matter how common the spear art was, Ainz doubted that any kid his age would have reached intermediate level.

So this time, he would place a limit on himself to not exceed beginner rank on the spear art, while he thought he directly charged at Bruce with the spear pointing at him.

THUD!

The tip of the cane suddenly hit Ainz at the back of his head, and he fell to the ground crouching his head. Feeling such extreme pain at the back of his head, he nearly cursed out, although he could see where the attack was coming from he could not dodge it, because his body reaction was a tad slower, and could not keep up.

"If you had crouched your body like that from the very beginning, your dumbass wouldn't have gotten hit and would have had the chance to avoid my cane. Besides, stop pretending, and get up. Have heard you endure more beating than this, am sure this much is nothing to you!"

Bruce said, shaking his head as he stared at him with a poker expression, when Ainz heard what he said, he glared at him he was sure the bastard was having a smug look behind his poker expression.

Ainz got up once more but didn't charge immediately, replaying what Bruce said and what happened in his head, he stared at the cane and then his arm, and charged forward this time following his master's advice.

THUD!

As soon as he noticed the cane was not aiming towards him directly but at his shoulders, Ainz struck the spear forward but was pushed back by the force of the cane, Ainz couldn't help but curse under his breath, with such force it was no wonder why when he was hit it felt painful.

"Good, but kid put some strength in those arms of yours, I heard you eat way more meat than your age. How can a kid who eats like that, not be able to handle such force? If you can eat more then I am sure you can fight more, don't let those youthful energy go to waste."

'Youthful energy my ass.' Ainz thought, before he charged at him once more, the same thing repeated itself, but this time Ainz was on guard, and deflected the cane, before striking at him with the spear.

Yet, just as he was about to strike he suddenly felt something was coming from behind him with his mana sense, and that was when he heard Bruce's voice behind his ears.

"That wasn't bad, kid, but for now let's try a different form."

Bruce said from behind him, he had somehow vanished from his field of vision that if it wasn't for mana sense, which barely detected him he wouldn't have noticed someone was behind him.

He looked at the small figure in front of him, and smiled. Not only was the kid extremely good with the spear, he was also good at taking beatens, looking at Bruce who was smiling he suppressed the urge to give him the middle finger.

Just like this, they kept training as the morning soon passed by with Bruce perfecting Ainz's technique, it was the toughest and most intense training they had since they began to spar.

"We have had a nice training session, see you again next week kid, don't forget to eat enough meat, like I said don't waste that youthful energy."

Ainz glared at him, at this moment he was quite in a pitiful state, however, on his lips was a smile no one noticed, before their training session finished, he suddenly received a notification message regarding the spear art.

[Intermediate spear art, has leveled up]

[Spear art has become advanced level]

When he saw the notification message he almost jumped in excitement, although he knew sparring with someone like Bruce would help him, he hadn't expected even being beaten would also help him this much, especially since he was not just using sparring with him.

He was also using him to grind his techniques, but he simply did not expect the intermediate-level spear art to level up this quickly, his thought was that it might take a week more but thanks to being beaten by Bruce it had speedened the process.

At this point, he was really grateful for being beaten by Bruce, at the same time he was beginning to wonder how much he would improve if he were to be beaten by Bruce every week? He couldn't wait for the following week to be beaten by Bruce!
