Chapter 57: All Hands on Deck

Adalee's face appeared on the video chat with a few other faces that Carter recognized as the marketing and design teams. He swallowed hard, as he waited for Adalee to talk with the mute button control in his palm. He grazed his thumb along the button as he waited for Adalee to talk.

His gaze flickered over to the box that suddenly popped up with a blushing Ariana in it, and he knew that she wasn't fairing well across from him. He slowly peered up and over his laptop screen at her, not saying a word. Her cheeks were flushed and her hair was still damp, yet it would be hard for anyone to notice with it pulled up in a bun. He licked his lips as she caught his gaze and flushed a deeper rose.

Her foot grazed up his calf and along his thigh and he cleared his throat, causing her to drop her foot back to the ground. He held the remote to where she could see it and clicked the mute button with emphasis. She suddenly jumped and hit mute.
