Chapter 5

Adrian's POV

I woke up in complete bliss. I look over and see my mate and her child still curled up next to me fast asleep. Last night's events still replay in my mind. The kiss me and Calliope shared last night was fantastic. I couldn't have gone any better. I was more expecting her to pull away as soon as I did it. But she in turn kissed me back ever so gently. Sparks flew all over my body that made me and my wolf gleam. If someone were to be hearing my thoughts right now they would think I'm some type of girl. I was just so happy that not only was she able to share different details about her life with me but the kiss as well.

I carefully get out of the bed and head downstairs and go to the kitchen to start making breakfast. Calliope told me that she most preferred french toast over pancakes, so that's what I made. As I was cooking I saw the back glass in the living room. REmember how Harmony came in and her and CAlliope were fighting. Calliope stood her ground and could've killed her if i wouldn't have stopped them. I had thought about it for a second because harmony has been up my ass talking about being Luna and what not. She hasn't found her mate and neither had i but i wasn't about to make someone who wasn't my mate the Luna.

I had just finished making breakfast when I heard little feet come down the stairs. I'm surprised to see that it was Riley without her mother. "Well good morning Riley." I said to her as she sat down on one of the chairs. "Your mom is still sleeping?" She shook her head, not ready to speak yet. Obviously not a morning person. I then heard Calliope walking down the stairs. SHe had already changed into some jeans and a t-shirt and threw hair up into a ponytail. "Good morning." I greet her as she walks towards the bar. "Whatcha making there Adrian?" I loved it when she said my name. Wait till she's screaming it… My wolf interjects. Shoving the dirty thoughts away. "I made french toast. If I remember correctly you said you preferred that over pancakes. "She gave me a small smile. "You paid attention." she said while her face turned shade of red. "Mommy, can I go watch the princess movies now?" Calliope turned towards Riley and picked her up from the chair. "Of course Angel."

Her and Riley go over to the living room and she turns the tv on and starts playing one of the cinderella movies. Calliope walks back and is just watching her daughter play and watch the TV. "How did you sleep last night?" she asks me slightly, turning in her chair. "Well it was a little hard there was this giant person snoring all night long." I answered back, giving her a smile. Her mouth flies open and turns red. "I did not snore Mr.Alpha you must have heard your own." she smiled back.

We finished eating breakfast and I got ready to go back to the office. When I came back downstairs I saw that Calliope and RIley were still in the living room watching movies and playing. Riley is going back and forth with her talking about which princess is better. "Ri your answer changes everyday about which one is better." She laughs playing with Riley. She looked really happy. I just hope that it stayed that way. Maybe I could talk to her to stay here permanently. "Alright girls, I am headed to the office. I will be sending Logan and Tyler to watch over y'all today to make sure there are no more unwanted visitors." I say to them as I walk out the door. I mind linked Ben and Ryan letting them know that I was headed back to the office adn to come by when they had a chance. I then mind link Logan and Tyler letting them know of their duties. They all respond with a "Yes, Alpha." I drove up to the office and got settled. I was going back to planning on how I needed to prepare for a possible attack at any time from this Ethan guy not wanting to change Calliope and Riley's lives.

Calliope's POV

After Adrian left Riley turned to me and asked "How come Adrian was sleeping with us last night mommy?" I was truly lost for words because I wasn't sure how to explain this to her. "Well baby, me and Adrian are mates. And that's kind of just what mates do." that started even more questions with her. "What are mates?" i sighed "Well mates are two people who are chosen by the Moon Goddess to be together forever. They will love, cherish, and protect each other and their children forever.'' I told her. She got a confused look on her face "So does that mean that Adrian is my dad?" I heard a clear voice. I turned around to see the guys standing there. I push Riley behind me. "Who the hell are yall?" I question letting out a low growl. "Easy Luna, where are the two guards that ADrian sent here. I'm Logan and this is Tyler '' the middle aged man spoke. I calmed a little bit more and let Riley go. "It's ok sweetheart, go back to playing." I turned to Riley. She didn't skip a beat. "Mommy you didn't answer my question." she stated. I gave out a big breath, the curiosity of this girl is going to be the death of me. "No baby, he is not your dad. It is a very long story that is only meant for grown ups." I told her and she just went on to another question. "Can Adrian be my dad?" my face turns multiple shades of red. "I don't know Ri, that is something you will have to ask him another day." This day was going to be full of questions about him. I can tell that already.

Some time had passed and it was already lunch time. Me and Riley had already eaten. I had even tried to offer Logan and Tyler some food but they said they were ok. Riley was still sitting at the bar while I was cleaning up the kitchen. "Mommy?" I had finished with the last dish and put it out to dry and turned the water off. "Yes angel?" I come around to her and pick her up off the chair. "Can we go to that nice park that we saw the other day when we were Adrian?" That's when I looked up towards Logan and tyler. Logan's eyes got cloudy telling me that she was mind linking him to ask. A few moments passed and he nodded his head saying that it was ok. "Yes ma'am we sure can. But you will have to change into some other clothes first." She hollered in joy and ran upstairs me chasing after her. When we got up the stairs I put her in some jeans and a t-shirt and helped with her tennis shoes. I told her that she had to go brush her teeth and that when she got back that i would do her hair. We were both ready to go in about ten minutes and headed back down both Logan and Tyler waiting by the door for us.

We arrived at the park in about 15 minutes and as soon as Riley was out of the car she made a beeline for the slides. There were other children playing too. I let her go and took a seat on one of the benches that was away from the other moms that were out there not wanting to cause a scene. I was watching her for about ten minutes before this woman came and sat next to me. "Hi! Im beta Ben's mate Amelia. Your daughter and my son seem to have hit it off pretty well so far." she said while pointing to the little boy with brown shaggy hair that looked like Ben made over. "Ah, I see. I'm Calliope and that is Riley." I said to her as I pointed at Riley. "It is so wonderful to meet you. I'm so glad that Adrian finally found you. That man was damn miserable and had a terrible temper." she joked. I gave out a small laugh. "Yeah, I have seen the temper a couple of times. He's definitely something."

Me and Amelia carried off in conversation while watching the kids play. I'm not exactly sure how cuh time had passed but the sun was starting to set. I look up and around noticing. "Well sorry to end this wonderful time but it is time for me and Jonathan home." Amelia says "Ben should be home soon as well as Adrian." she added. I nod my head and call Riley over. "Well thank you for keeping me company today." I said to her, "Oh, anytime! We should really set up a playdate for the two of them." she stated as Riley and Jonathan started running over. "Mommy! I made a new friend!" Riley beams to me. "Yes, I see an angel." I hugged her. "Jonathan this is mom, mommy Jonathan." I wave to Jonathan and greet him. I get a hold of Riley's hand and walk back to the car where Logan and Tyler are standing.

We make it back home in just enough time for me to make dinner. "Riley, what would you like for dinner tonight?" Riley thinks about it for a second. "Pizza!" she yells and I give off a laugh. "Ok I can do that." sje goes off to go back and play in the living room as I pull out a pizza to be thrown into the oven. I had just finished putting the pizza in the oven and turning on another movie for Riley when Adrian walks in. He speaks to Logan and Tyler first. "Thank you for staying. You both may be dismissed." He said to them as he started walking through the doorway into the kitchen. "Hey I heard that you two had quite the day." Adrian said to me as he set down his keys on the bar. I give a small smile "Yeah, it was quite nice. I met Ben's mate Amelia and their son Jonathan. Him and Riley seemed to have hit it off pretty well." I tell him as I go around back to the oven to pull the pizza out of the oven. "Well that's good to hear." He states as he goes into the fridge to grab him a soda. Riley comes into the room calling for Adrian. "Adrian! Adrian!Adrian!" she says as she runs up to him. "Well hello to you sweet girl." He says to her as he picks her up and sets her on his lap.

I'm just thinking in my head, please don't ask him. Before I knew it she asked exactly what I didn't want her to do. "Adrian mommy says that you two are mates." she says as he nods. "Does that mean that you get to be my daddy?" I choked on my water. "Riley. I said another day! Not today!" I said to her while a hundred different shades of red came on my face. I went over and picked her from his lap and brought back into the living room. "Baby i understand that you are very excited, but you can't just ask people those types of questions ok?" I said to her, She put her head down. "Yes ma'am." I picked her head so she would look at me. "I'm not a mad baby ok? Just play with your toys and watch TV till I call you for dinner." She nods her head and goes back to playing.

When I get back into the kitchen Adrian has this smirk on his face while mine goes back to being red. "I'm sorry. I didn't think she would ask you that today or any day for that matter. I told her about us being mates today and it has just been a question filled day since.`` I said to him as I turned my back to cut the pizza. He gives off a small chuckle. "It's ok. You just really didn't give me a chance to answer her.'' I turned back and looked at him. "Well i didn't want you to be put into a situation where we haven't actually talked about that type of stuff yet.'' I told him. "I understand that too but we are mates so it really just a matter of time." I stopped what I was doing, trying to process what he just said. He could tell that his statement got my attention. He was just about to say something. "You know what, let's not we haven't even sit down and talk about it yet. I would rather wait and talk about it when I have a chance." I told him. I called Riley telling her that dinner was ready and me and Adrian ate in silence. Only talking when Riley said something to either one of us.

When we got done with dinner I was about to wash the dishes but Adrian said he would take care of it because it was getting late and he knew I had to put Riley to bed. I just nodded my head and told Riley that it was time for bed. I gave her a bath and got her into bed and sang her to sleep. This seems to be our routine now. I kiss her head before I head back down stairs to clean up the living room. When I got down I noticed that ADrian had already gone and was sitting on the couch. He looks like he is waiting for me. I'm not sure if I'm really ready to have this conversation with him just yet. I took a one more deep breath as I went to sit on the other side of the couch. I just sat there quietly not wanting to speak. Adrian cleared his throat and I looked up at him. "I know you may not want to talk about it but we probably should. Especially since you two will be staying. We have other things that we also need to talk about as well." He states and I'm not really sure what to say at this point. Adrian goes to place his drink on the table and leans back into the couch. "I know that you are used to having to watch your back and defend for yourself and what not, but those are things that aren't really necessary anymore. I also know that your feelings for more grow each day and so do mine for you. If safety is your concern then I hope that I can ease that by telling you that the safest option you have is to stay and have the protection of the pack." He says while looking at me. I sigh. "All these things that you're saying are true, but at the same time. I have no idea how to be a Luna dn run a pack. I don't have the best track record when it comes to mate things. And I also that in order for me to even start the whole Luna process you would have to mark me at a minimum and finish the mating process which is something that I am not ready for." I state to him trying to remain calm. He nods his head. "I get it. I am not going to rush you into anything by any means. I know and understand everything you've been through. So that is the last thing that I want to do." I lean back into the couch and close my eyes trying to fight the tears. "I mean is this even what you want Adrian? You are getting a mate that is tainted and has a child with another man. Aren't you in the least bit worried about how that is going to affect you?" I state to him on the verge of breaking. He pulls me from my spot and has me sit down in front of him. I look into his eyes, not being able to fight his gaze. "You are not tainted. And so what if you have a child that isn't mine? I will take care of Riley like she was mine. I honestly could care fucking less about everyone's opinion as long as i have you. YOU are the only one that I want , the only one that I have been waiting for." He says all of these things, his eyes not wavering once to tell me that he's lying. "But what about-" before I could finish he landed his lips on mine. The action sent shocks throughout my whole body. I can feel myself melting in his arms. This was a more passionate kiss, reassuring me that there was nothing else he wanted. I kissed him back full force. He wrapped his arms around my waist and brought me closer to him. I slowly wrapped my hands around his neck. I'm not sure how much longer we were like this. I pulled back slowly once again ending the kiss. "Ok i see your point" I say to him as he smiles against my lips.
