38. Cruel Verdict

Whoosh…

The shinobi, who deflected the kunai, quickly approaches Yuji's unconscious body. The figure removes her mask to reveal her identity as the kind caretaker Miina.

"Yuji-kun!"

She grits her teeth at Yuji's serious condition. She quickly tears a portion of her robe to tie Yuji's wounds. Her makeshift bandage temporarily prevents bleeding.

"I have to quickly take him to the hospital."

She picks him in her arms and flickers towards the Konoha Hospital.

"It's my fault. I shouldn't have let him return alone after, despite being aware of the missing cases." She blames herself.

Whoosh…

Miina's figure turns blurry. She increases her speed to limit to quickly admit him to the hospital.

"Emergency! It's an emergency. Medics!" She quickly reaches the hospital and creates a ruckus in the hospital.

The medic-nins immediately take action after noticing the serious condition of Yuji.

A group of medics picks up Yuji from Miina's embrace and lays him down on a stretcher. They hurriedly pull him into the emergency ward.

Soon, a middle-aged senior medic with white eyes enters the emergency ward. He brings his index finger in front of his eyes.

"Byakugan!"

He makes a tiger seal to activate his Dojutsu. Due to the increased blood and chakra flow, the veins near the temples of the eye bulge slightly. The medic-nin quickly diagnoses Yuji's condition.

"A blunt strike at the sternum, breaking it into multiple fragments. Seven broken ribs punctured the right lung. Hemothorax at the space between the wall of chest and lung due to heavy internal bleeding."

One of the attendants by his side quickly records everything on a notepad. The medic ignores him and continues the diagnosis.

His eye moves around Yuji's body.

Hmm…

"Stimulation nerve rupture at the position of the left hand and the two legs. Did he do it on purpose to reduce the pain?"

His gaze turns to Yuji's right hand.

"A dislocated shoulder blade… several nerves have snapped in this area." His gaze moves along the right arm.

"A compound fracture in the elbow and…"

The medic's eyes widen to the core.

"Www… what is this? Wwww… what am I looking at? How is this possible?"

The medic is lost for words as he gazes at the traces of lingering chakra in the entirety of Yuji's right hand.

Since he is a medic-nin, he knows the principle behind the chakra-enhanced strength and the fine chakra control required to do it. But the sight in front of him gives him the biggest shock of his life. He even began to doubt his years of career as a medic.

"This shouldn't be possible. This doesn't make any sense." The medic continues to chant these words.

"Umm… sensei… what's the matter?" Looking at the exaggerated expression of the senior medic, the attendant beside him asks with slight hesitation.

"There are traces of chakra concentration in the muscles, skin, bones, blood vessels, and even the nerves of his right arm. This is similar to the chakra-enhanced strength where the user coats their muscles with chakra and skin to strengthen them and protect them from the reactive force of their attack. However, how… how do his bones, blood vessels, and even the ultra-thin web of nerves have traces of the chakra-enhanced strength technique?

This isn't humanly possible. Just the perfect chakra control and high mental strength aren't enough to achieve such a feat. The senior medic stares at Yuji's body in fascination.

"His chakra signature is abnormal compared to a regular shinobi. It's highly dense, almost thrice as dense as regular shinobi and hmm… there seems to be something else mixed within his chakra. Though I can't see through the nature of this foreign substance in chakra. But this foreign substance is well-mixed with his chakra. Huh! What could it be… what could it be?"

The medic's eyes glare holes through Yuji's body. He attempts to decipher the secret present in Yuji's body.

Tap… tap…

Some footsteps echo in the hall, but the medic-nin is too engrossed in the research that he ignores them. The attendant turns around and notices the newcomer. He quickly bows and turns aside.

"Hmm… not that I take a closer look at him, this flow of chakra…"

Ahem…

The newcomer clears his throat, but the senior medic ignores everything.

"Umm… sensei…"

The attendant calls out to the medic-nin.

"Don't disturb me. I am in the middle of discovering something new. Hmm… where was I… yes, this weird chakra flow… perhaps this could be a new type of Kekkei Genkai?"

Tch…

The newcomer figure clicks its tongue.

BAM…

A heavy force acts upon the senior medic's body and rudely lifts him from his place and throws him aside.

"Get your filthy hands away from my student!" Tsunade's roar gives a rude awakening to the senior medic.

"Ah… what?" The medic snaps back to reality and glares at Tsunade.

"Even though you are the daughter of Lord Hashirama and the student of Lord Hokage, it doesn't give you enough right to disrupt someone during a serious medical procedure." The senior medic harrumphs at him.

"What serious medical procedure? What I see is just the rambling of a mindless idiot when the life of the patient is under threat?" Tsunade chides him and uses her mystic palm technique to slowly treat the shallow wounds on his body.

"Hmph… what life under threat? This kid is already beyond saving. As a 'budding medic-nin', I am sure you can see the state of his brain. I am not sure how… but he has suffered a serious injury to his spirit, disrupting the balance between his body and mind. Currently, he is nothing more than a husk, with no sentient mind. Perhaps a mushed vegetable is a better word for him.

However, his body is unique. It's a treasure trove of new knowledge. We can learn lots of things from his body if we carefully dissect his body and research it." The senior medic harrumphs at Tsunade's words as he announces his cruel verdict.

"He is still living and breathing. That's more than enough to give a hope to save his life. How can we medics can think of giving up on a patient even without trying?" Tsunade retorts.

"Humph… naïve thoughts!"

The senior medic turns around and leaves.

"A waste of such a fine research subject! This kid only belongs to a research lab or a morgue!" He mutters in an unpleasant tone and exits the room. The attendant helplessly follows him.

Tsunade pays no heed to his words.

"Assistant! I need an assistant." She shouts. But none of the medics makes a move, afraid of the senior medic.

The senior medic, a member of the Hyuga clan, is currently one of the best medic-nin in the shinobi world. He even partook in the first shinobi war alongside the second Hokage as his aide.

During the war, he saved countless lives and made a significant contribution. Even the current Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, owes his life to him.

As a result, he holds a much higher reputation and authority in the village. He even holds the position of a village elder as a representative of the Konoha medical facility.

The other medics are afraid of the consequences of offending such a big shot.

"Tsunade-sama, I will assist you."

A young girl with brown hair and black eyes comes to Tsunade's aid.

"You are a member of the Senju clan!"

"Mm…" The girl weakly nods.

"Good! Now fetch me some fresh towels, cotton rolls, and warm water. Also, don't forget to sterilize the medical tools and equipment." Tsunade issues a bunch of orders to her while unclogging the blood vessels of his left arm and legs with her chakra scalpels.

"Yes, Tsunade-sama!"

The Senju girl quickly rushes out of the emergency ward.

While treating his minor wounds, Tsunade grumbles to herself.

"This guy… why is he such a trouble magnet? This is the first time I have seen someone so bold and reckless. I just returned from my mission and was about to return home to pick up a few things from the hospital and yet here you are… sigh…"

She sighs and disinfects other wounds with spirit alcohol. She wipes the blood with cotton swabs.

"You have lost a large amount of blood. Thankfully, you have the same blood type as me."

Tsunade picks up a nearby blood-collecting bag. She infuses some chakra into her finger and shapes it into a needle. Tsunade pokes a vein near the elbow on her left arm. She fills the collecting bag with blood.

Tch…

"One bag isn't enough." She heals the wound, picks up another collecting bag, and pokes her arm again to collect blood in another bag. Each collecting bag is around a pint and Tsunade fills four such bags.

"This should be enough to sustain the blood circulation in his body."

Tsunade skin turns pale and anemic after the huge loss of blood.
