0006 - 6 Months of Training and our first trial

Its been six months since I began training with Yi-Holmbe, and in this time, I have grown much.

I could beat all of my peers in a spar and was even nearing the point of a standstill when sparing with Yi-Holmbe.

My only problem so far is that Yi-Holmbe is still much stronger and faster than me.

The only reason I am nearing a standstill is that I have been training with him for six months. So I know the way he fights, moves, and thinks.

But on the first day of the sixth month of training, Yi-Holmbe gathered us all before him.

"It's been six months since I began training you Younglings, and I believe now is the time for the first trial. I will only allow at most five of you to take on this trial, and if you survive, you will rise to the rank of an Un-Blooded, but be warned, this trial will not be easy."

"You will be stripped of all of your tools and weapons and forced to survive in a hostile environment for an additional six months, and you will have to hunt for your food, build your shelters, and defend yourselves against the local wildlife, do you understand?" Yi-Holmbe asked.

From our training, Yi-Holmbe quite literally beat the arrogant, aggressiveness, and pride most of the younglings had, so after we all nodded in understanding and Yi-Holmbe asked who of us wished to take on this trial, only three of us raised our hands.

"Are you three sure? If you have second thoughts, now is the time."

Seeing that none of us refused, Yi-Holmbe sighed, "Fine, no backing out now, follow me."

He led us out of the training room and escorted us through the ship and to the bridge.

At the bridge, we found the Clan Leader waiting for us.

"Eolde, Nalibe, Vaichi, you three have decided to take on the Un-Blooded trial. You three know this trial can be fatal?" The Clan Leader questioned us.

"Yes, Clan Leader!" We answered.

"Good, we will reach the training grounds soon. While we may be a Nomadic Clan, we have a few dedicated training planets, and we will reach one soon. Once we reach there, we will take everything off of you besides some basic clothing, from there we will return to the planet six months later, you will have to survive for six months by yourselves, each of you will be dropped at an isolated part of the world, are you three ready? This will be a difficult trial. Some of you may not survive. Such is the way of life."

And just as the Clan Leader said, a few minutes later, we reached upon a beautiful looking planet covered in life and water.

"Do note that this planet makes it a little harder to breathe, so you will have difficulty hunting and overall surviving on this planet," The Clan Leader informed us as he brought the ship down towards the planet.

Without much care, I volunteered to be the first to be dropped off.

So, after taking off everything on my person besides some basic clothes and my wire mesh undersuit, they loaded me onto a small ship where the pilot dropped me off planetside by a waterfall in the middle of a jungle.

Immediately after that, however, they left, leaving me in silence and the freedom to explore this new world I would be in for the next six months.

Sure, I would have to hunt for food and the like, but I will now have free time to do as I wish.

For example, finally, use the Unknown Dungeon key I have had for a while now.

But I will ignore that for now. Besides, I do not want to enter the dungeon until I have a decent enough weapon to fight with.

Now that I was alone, I got to work.

After all, shelter won't build itself.

The first thing I did was make myself a simple stone hatchet.

Sharpening a stone by the river for around an hour, I used the sharpened stone to chop down a small tree and then used the small trunk of the tree to shape the handle for my hatchet.

Carving out a small hole at the top of the branch, then using fire to harden the wood around the hole, I began hammering the sharpened stone into the hole before wrapping some simple rope I fashioned from some plants around the rock to keep it in place.

I used the sharpened stone axe to chop down more trees and make a temporary thatch hut, which took another two hours of my time.

When that was done, I made myself an uncomfortable but usable thatch bed to sleep on, then began scouting out the area for some food.

Since I already had the river and waterfall nearby, I did not worry about finding more water.

Nearby I was lucky to find some strange plants that grew fruit and made sure they were not poisonous by smearing the juice on my arm and waiting a while.

Now that I had some food to last me a couple of days, I went back to work on my hut for the rest of the day.

Making a simple clay mud oven to keep my hut warm, I then went to sleep for the night.

Luckily not being attacked by anything during the night, I went back to work changing my simple thatch hut, or I should say thatch ceiling on four wooden poles, into a mud clay hut.

So much work to do. Luckily, I have six months on my hands!
