Chapter 110

We arrived at the salon few minutes later and my wife was looking so beautiful, her hair now looks so perfect and lovely but she was kinda shocked to see me in the car when she opened the door, "you ought to be at home by now or did you go somewhere else?" she asked immediately, "Yes I went to the cinema to watch a movie because going home now would be boring for me, let me enjoy myself a little" I replied with a smile on my face. "Seems you enjoyed yourself then" she replied, "Not really, you won't believe who I met at the cinema" I replied and this stirred up her curosity, "Who did you see?" she asked.

  "I saw Daniel at the cinemas and I could barely recognize him when we were inside due to his dark shades but I saw his full face when he came outside" I replied, my wife's face changed immediately when I mentioned the name Daniel, she once had a serious argument with him some years back and I could remembered the amount of insults she rained on him that day. "That guy makes me angry anytime I hear his name, what does he want this time?" she asked looking so angry, I had to calm her down before saying anything, "Just relax, he said he wants to amend his ways and reconcile with me but the way he started the discussion made me feel he was only there to insult me because he started talking about me forcing Andrew to get married and bear me a grandchild" I replied

"You mean he said that to you and you did nothing?, what's his business by the way and why is he advising you or did you tell him about your condition?" she asked with her eyes wide open, "I didn't tell him anything but he already knows about it because he works in the same hospital that I normally go to treat myself and he only got hold of the information when he hacked into the laboratory system of the same hospital he works in" I replied, she stared at me with surprise. "I think this is a good time to pay him back for the insult he gave me few years back, I would report him but the only problem is that I have no proof" she said with her legs crossed like chicken 

  "I just told you to relax, why would you want to use it against him even if you have proof, just let the young man be and by the way he apologized for everything that happened in the past so I think we are good now" I replied, we however got home few minutes later and I quickly went to my room while my wife walked around to look for Andrew and her sister,  on getting to my room, I saw the maid arranging my bed and looking at the floor, I found out that she has mopped it clean from every form of dirt. "Good afternoon sir, guess you had a wonderful outing today" she asked with a smile

I barely pay attention to my maids because I'm just the kind of man who barely notices anything unless it's important to me but looking at this beautiful girl right now made me realize that my house is filled with beautiful maids, "It was okay and how did you know that I went out of the house, I thought you were on kitchen duties today?" I asked, "That's actually true but I switched positions with the maid who is going to clean up your room, I just feel the urge to clean up your room today and that's why I'm here" she replied. "Alright then, you can carry on with your duties" I replied and laid down on my bed.

  She kept on cleaning the other parts of the room but I noticed that she was stylishly staring at me and smiling all the time, hope this girl is not having a crush on me because I'm way too old for this right now and my wife would skin her alive if she should find out about this. "Is anything the problem?" I asked when I couldn't cope with the way she was staring at me every seven mine, "I'm so sorry sir, just that when I look at your face, I always remember how you offered me a job when I came to you with nothing to prove my worth and working with this family has brought so many opportunities to me as I can now take care of my mother and my siblings without even shaking or thinking on how I will be able to refill the place I took the money from" she replied

What she said made me remember how she walked up to me that day with tears in her eyes, she kept on begging for a chance to work as a maid in the house, and I just had to give her a chance and she really impressed me with her work. She once told me that she cares so much for her mother and two younger brothers who are in high school after her father died but she didn't tell me the cause of her father's death though. "It's nothing, hope your mother and your siblings are doing fine?" I asked with a smile, "Yes, they are doing great and my younger siblings are going to graduate from high school soon, that means they will be going to college next year" she replied with a smile.

    I was really pleased with what she just said but I wonder why she didn't go to school despite her extraordinary beauty and perfect body shape, "That's great, but I would like to ask you one question" I replied and this made her stay silent for some minutes before opening her mouth to give me a reply, "Alright sir, I'm all ears" she replied as she dropped the mop stick by the door so that she could hear my question without being distracted, "Why didn't you to school when you were much more younger?, I didn't remember to ask you this question when you came for a job in the house but I feel now is the right time to ask you because each of the maid here have all told me the reason why they are currently working as maids in my house and I have even helped some achieve their dreams by sending them to part-time college and the last one who graduated last year is now working as a nurse all thanks to my investment in her life so I would like to hear yours" I replied

Tears rolled down her eyes slowly and I started feeling that I might have triggered some sad memories, maybe I shouldn't have asked her this question now but I really need to know because the others have told me theirs expect her and I have even forgotten her name, "Is there anything wrong, why are you crying?" I asked looking so confused about the whole thing. "I'm sorry but anytime people ask me this question, I always shed tears because it's really painful when I try to go back to the past I ran away from" she replied with tears in her eyes, I simply went to meet her where she stood and ushered her to sit down in the bed this time I wasn't worried about my wife walking into the room to meet us talking, because I do need to be close to my workers.

  "You can tell me all about it, I won't judge you, I have never judged any of my workers because I understand that all fingers in life aren't equal and that's why the world is not balanced, free yourself and tell me so that I will know how to help you" I replied with a smile, "Alright, most people often think I'm the one who refused to go to college but they don't have a single clue about what truly happened, few years ago, I was the star student in my class but things went bad in my life and this started when my dad was diagnosed of cancer, he was the bread winner of our family because my mother had no job so he worked hard to make sure that his family received the best.

But one day, he came back home looking so sad with tears in his eyes, we didn't understand what was happening because we haven't seen him in that kind of state before. That evening, he confessed that he was diagnosed of cancer and that was the same day he lost his job as a banker because the bank couldn't cope with their staff having cancer and that was how our suffering began, my mother met all her friends but they turned her down for one reason or the other and that was how my father died due to lack of funds to take him to the hospital to treat him properly.

  Things became extremely difficult when my school started demanding that I and my siblings should pay up our fees because we're seriously owing them but my mom however tried her best to meet up with the fees but she begged me to look for a job after I finished from high school so that she could train my two brothers with her grocery business and that is how I ended up here" she replied while cleaning the tears off her eyes, i felt pity for her after I heard her story, this young girl has suffered so much at such a young age and this not good at all. "What would like to study in college?" I asked with a smile but she looked at me which shock, she didn't expect me to say that at all

"I would love to study Medicine and surgery in college but I guess that won't be possible because if I divert my funds to school, I won't be able to continue my duties which means I will have to stop and that would make me run short of cash" she replied with a frown, "What if I'm willing to sponsor you throughout your college days and also provide for your family too, I will make sure your brothers stay in school and you won't have to work as a maid, that can be suspended till you are done with college" I replied

   She jumped up with joy and hugged me so tight that I felt her breast touching my chest and this was giving a little erection and at the moment, my wife walked in and was shocked to see the maid hugging me in this manner but she kept staring at us without even saying a single word, "Can someone tell me what is happening here?" she asked looking a bit curious to see what is actually going on between the both of us, "Good afternoon ma'am, your husband has given me the opportunity to study my dream course in college and he is willing to sponsor me and provide for my family as well, what greater joy can exceed this?" she replied and hugged my wife with so much happiness in her eyes, I have never seen her this happy before seems this little kindness of mine has uplighted her soul to an unimaginable height.

"Really, that's great news, seems we have a future doctor in the house" my wife replied looking pleased with my actions, "Thank you so much ma, let me return to my duties now" she replied and made her way out of the room but I quickly called her back because she hasn't told me her name yet, "Please what's your name, I have forgotten it, perhaps you told me before" I called out to her. "My name is Elena" she replied with a smile.

  "That's a beautiful name by the way, you can get back to your duties now and I will get back to you later" I replied as my wife made her way to the toilet to urinate. I laid down on my bed thinking about what Elena just revealed to me right now, she has no idea that I would likely die like her father in few months time, "Are you really going to sponsor her in school?" my wife asked after she finished from the toilet, "Yes of course, I have been sponsoring most of the maids in this house through their college degrees" I replied, my wife was however shocked but she quickly regained herself, seems she doesn't even know 

"Are you surprised?" I asked when I noticed some signs of confusion in her face, "Yeah, I'm just hearing this for the first time, I never knew you were the one paying for the college fees for most of the maids working for us and they didn't even bother to tell me" she replied. "Why would they tell you?, you are not the one paying the fees right, so you shouldn't expect them to just open up to you when they are not gossipers" I replied. She was kinda angry with what I just said but I didn't care at all because it is the truth, "Alright then, but something is really bothering me and I don't really know how to tell you" she said after taking her clothes off 

  She walked into the bathroom to freshen up and I followed her too so that we could bath together, "What is bothering you again?" I asked. "I feel like we should look for a good girl for Andrew, I don't want him to make the wrong decision, you know your son is not ready for this" she replied, what she said does makes sense but interfering with Andrew's choice would seem dangerous, "I don't think it's necessary" I replied

She stared at me for a while to confirm if I was actually serious with what I said and when she noticed I didn't say anything, she dropped her sponge and made me look at her in the eyes, "What did you just say, so you want Andrew to end up with any girl out there?" she replied looking a bit angry, "What do you want me to do Mariam, we have already pushed the boy too much and now he is looking so depressed because of me, because of the decisions I have made him take, I don't want to interfere with his choice of wife because he won't forgive me for life if anything should go wrong.

  It would be far more better for us to watch and see the lady he brings home for marriage before we can take any other action, we can only recommend a good lady for him but we can't force him same way you can't force a donkey to drink water. And mind you, I will only recommend a lady for him after he has made his choice, I won't want to mess up things" I replied and walked out of the bathroom to clean myself up, this woman gives me troubles at times and there is no telling what she can actually do to see her decisions come into play, "That's okay, let's see how it goes but I surely know we will need to choose for him" she replied with a smile
