Stay here.

Chapter 50: Stay here.

Igris didn't seem to mind the fact that Kalon had raised a hand towards him and even praised him for the attack. But Kalon still didn't trust him. When Igris stopped messing with Kalon's hair, he took his hand back and looked over at Roah, who was still waiting to talk with him.

"There is also something else. Do you mind if we go somewhere private to talk?" Roah asked before awaiting a reply from both Aria and Igris. They both looked at each other with weary eyes before Aria nodded her head in approval.

"Sure, We can go out back and talk. I have a private room that I use for tea parties." Aria smiled as she grabbed Roah's hand with excitement to show off her tea room. But before she could be dragged along by Aria, Roah turned her head and glanced back at Kalon.

"Do you mind waiting here? I can't really share this information with you." Roah said with a little bit of regret in her voice. It sounded like she was too worried to leave Kalon by himself, but he had repeatedly shown that he was responsible. So she thought that there wouldn't be an issue with doing so.

Kalon looked up at Roah to see that she was serious about not telling him what was going on and felt a little hurt by it. After all the time they had spent together, he felt like he could tell her anything. Well, anything apart from being a spy from the Sylton empire. But the more he thought about it, the more that he saw that he was the same.

There were things that he couldn't tell her, so it seemed only natural that there were things that she couldn't tell him. He reluctantly nodded his head.

"Okay," He said in a soft tone before looking down at his feet.

"Thank you," Roah smiled before letting Aria drag her away.

"Well, it was nice meeting you, kid. Try not to get into too much trouble while you're alone out here." Igris ruffled Kalon's hair once again, getting past his defence before he had the chance to react and then laughing before following behind and walking back through the wooden door behind the bar.

"Can I get you anything, young man?" The bartender who had been serving people as he arrived with Roah approached Kalon and asked as he sat still.

"No, I'm fine, thanks." Kalon politely declined her offer and then looked up to see that she had a frown drawn across her lips.

"Aww, come on, I insist. It's on the house. You can have anything you want no matter how expensive it is." The woman smiled weakly as she looked at Kalon, thinking that it would be hard to convince him as a cool breeze entered through the open doorway.

"Anything I want?" Kalon asked to make sure that she was willing to keep her word after saying that he could have whatever he wanted.

"Sure," The woman spoke now with her eyebrows raised slightly as she tried to guess what he had in mind by the way he had asked her if she was sure. She thought that it might be something sinister, but given his innocent looks, she figured that it would be something stupid, yet she still agreed.

"Then watch my belongings. I will be back soon." Kalon said before shuffling forwards from the stool and sliding down to the floor before running out of the front door, where the breeze had just come from. He wanted to take a closer look at the buildings since he couldn't get over the fact that they seemed to be protected by a blue coloured barrier.

"Wait! You were told to stay here." The woman shouted and thought about chasing after him. But she knew that she would be in more trouble if she left the bar to chase after a kid, so she decided to stay put and hope that he wouldn't get lost.

"Woah, this seems to be a kind of technique. My senses tell me that it is Qi, but I can't seem to absorb it for some reason, and I can actually touch it." Kalon said to himself as he placed his hand against the wall of one of the houses outside. He then slapped the barrier that surrounded the wall and watched it wobble and distort slightly upon impact.

"It seemed pretty durable. I wonder how much it can take?" He asked himself before pulling his fist back behind his head and punching that wall as hard as he could. A loud bang rang out, but nothing happened to the wall at all.

'Hm, maybe if I try using Qi?' Kalon thought to himself before trying again but this time wrapping his fist in a layer of Qi while hoping for a different outcome. But as his hand contacted the wall, the same thing happened. His hand stopped immediately, and there was no damage at all to the barrier.

Suddenly the sound of creaking wood shot into Kalon's ears as he looked up to see a balcony above him as a middle-aged man stepped out and looked down.

"Stop banging on that god damned wall! Or else I will come down there and bang on your head!" The man shouted out while staring at Kalon since he was the person closest to the wall.

Kalon froze on the spot. He had never been in a confrontation with a human before, and he didn't know how to react. He knew that humans didn't tend to think of each other as lesser creatures, so he felt that apologising would be wrong. So instead of saying anything, he ran in the opposite direction of the bar.

He didn't want the man to see him go back to the bar just inc case he decided to follow him and report what happened to Roah, so Kalon ran as far away as he could.

But it proved to be the wrong choice as he tried to escape the angry man on the balcony he paid no attention to the fact that he didn't know the layout of the city and became lost within a sea of people as he walked into a crowd of adults and no longer being able to see where he was going.

Kalon has knocked around as people didn't see him due to his small size, and he found himself bumping into many people and getting looks of disapproval from everyone around him. Even within a city of humans, he still felt like an alien.

'What's going on? I can't move,' Kalon thought to himself as it seemed as though every time he took a step forward, he was forced back by someone's hip hitting him in the chest and pushing him back to where he started.

After a few minutes of feeling like a salmon trying to swim upstream, the crowd soon thinned out, and he was able to walk again. Suddenly it became dark, and it seemed like everyone around him had vanished. The street grew dim, and the sound from the bustling city sounded muted as the sounds of shoes clacking against the cobblestone road echoed around him.
